    I came across your channel and love all the useful info. I will look for a video on this topic on your channel, but just in case, I have a question.
    When buying gold, platinum, etc., how trustworthy is the metal stamp? Is there some law regulating that only certain pieces can carry that '10K', '14K' stamp, or is it an arbitrary thing that can be added to any piece? And, does this mean that even if it's gold plated, it can still carry the stamp, or is it only allowed on solid gold pieces?

    We usually wear 22 karat gold jewellery, but there are some less wearable but mandatory to have designs. Hence I was thinking to make this time in 18k.
    I want to know does it change color over time ? And how does large designs come out in 18k vs 22k ? Because anyways getting any Indian heritage jewellery made is a huge investment and I wanna save some bucks from being dead money

    what is differences between 18k white gold and 9k white gold?.. should i go for 18k because i can get higher price if i want to sell it. or should i buy 9k because of its durability but 9k white gold would become dull over the year and even blackish in colour not white anymore. any suggestion from you?

  • @Odat

    Having grown up my whole life in the Middle East around all kinds of gold, 18k is plenty rugged and strong. Never had an issue with 18k jewelers my whole life. 14k is nothing but a BS scheme to sell you watered down gold. 14k gold here in the Middle East is not even considered gold. Must be marked as costume jewelry. Buy 18k…the perfect balance between beauty and durability. Trust me!!

      first the purity 18k has 75% of pure gold also called 750 and the alloy for exemple to give the rose gold color it require copper to give that rose gold colors then 14k has 58.5 % of gold 14k is called 585 stamped that about the difference between the two one is more durable throughout the time 14k and 18k is more prestigious and course more pricey

    • @potatoyes246
      @potatoyes246 Před rokem +1

      15g of 21kt = 13.125g of pure gold x $62 per gram = $813.75 of gold value.
      $813.75/$1150= 0.707

    • @argentummoonjewellery3503
      @argentummoonjewellery3503 Před 5 lety +10

      Kanye West don’t worry! The softness of 18k is very much overestimated. It’s true that 14k will be MUCH harder to deform, but 18k has very high tensile strength, (meaning it is also very hard to deform) 18k is actually about 2-3 times harder than sterling silver (softest allowable jewellery metal) and sterling tends to hold up fine.

    • @powerplay4real174
      @powerplay4real174 Před 4 lety

      It's not that soft I have seen link chains that hold up very well and you cannot clean those 18k and up chains and rings with most jewelry cleaners , and usually it just take mild soap and water and wipe dry quickly to clean it.

      @@argentummoonjewellery3503 yeah 18k is very good for chains ,not the best for setting stones in ,but for standard link and rope chains it's very good and looks deeply rich and is healthy because some people are allergic to alloys in some 14k , no one allergic to gold but some people can be allergic to the alloys used in some gold even 14k , that's how come many Indian people, especially women wear 18k to 24k only.

    • @argentummoonjewellery3503
      @argentummoonjewellery3503 Před 3 lety

      @@tyler116 no. 18K is very tough. Most suppliers usually make 18K with a hardness of 100-155 Vickers and 14K at 130-145.
      So 14K is usually a little harder (and can be much harder, but such alloys usually have terrible working properties and are prone to cracking. Jewellers don’t use them), but 18K can actually be harder then some 14K alloys.
      If you go to a family jeweller, he should be able to do a custom allow for you or at least help you choose the hardest alloy.
