That unwinding of the quarter-turn per link was incredibly satisfying, I always thought those flat linked braclets and necklaces had the links made in that shape from the start. I had no idea they were actually circular rings at the beginning

My late grandad turned 14k, 16k, 18k and higher into 24k pure gold. Many steps before it completed the process. Amazing me was that when all step done, the gold was changed its metallic shape into dark brown dust but much heavy than normal dust. With high degree of heat, then it turned into gold. When it was solid and cool to touch, it bright shinning 24K.

When they’re hand made! Most chains are made by machines these days. Hand made jewelry is expensive

Not gonna lie it did look actually just easy lol. The hardest parts seem to be the twisting, because it’d probably be easy to over twist it, and the making of the clasp seemed a little difficult. The other steps look kinda hard to mess up really.
Jeweller here. This process is very easy. The most difficult part is getting a consistent and even filing when profiling (filing done around the 9:00 minute mark). Otherwise it is just drawing/rolling out (making thinner) the metal.

Don’t be fooled. The people who actually make the pieces get next to nothing compared with the final price of the products. There’s usually multiple middle men that make a profit, until it reaches the consumer that will pay a really high price for no reason (because he doesn’t know any better)

This brings back memories…5 years ago I sold my half inch gold herringbone bracelet and necklace to pay for my sons books & lab fees at college. I still wish I hadn’t had to do it but he came first. It was worth it though because he now teaches autistic kids. Watching you is very relaxing.
