Yes, I switched from a newer KTM 500. EXC that I had euro tune installed, racetech gold valves and complete suspension set for me and my riding style, lowered 40mm added a Rekluse DDX and left hand rear brake, tubliss front and rear and Scott stabilization. I thought that it would be the perfect off road enduro weapon, a little heavy but not bad. Then I purchased a 2021 300xc KTM with air forks. This stock 300 was in every way so much better than my heavily modded 4stroke. It was lighter, easier to ride, never stalls, (no Rekluse, no left hand rear brake needed on this bike), and so much easier to ride fast in the woods, you can lug up steep rooted, rocky hillclimbs, so easy and just makes me smile and want to ride so much more than the 4 Stroke. I am also 64 years old and regularly ride with some of the hard enduro riders here in Northern California. They convinced me to get back on a 2stroke. I exclusively rode 2 Strokes before the 500, my last 2 stroke was a KX 250 before moving to the 500, I really liked the KX, but it was not an easy bike to ride in the real tough enduro terrain. So as I was getting older I thought I should try a 4stroke to make it easier to keep up with my younger riding buddies, what a mistake.
Another aspect to consider is being able to buy a new 2 stroke, period! We're lucky they exist, they'll be banned soon and then they'll come after the 4 strokes. Want to ride, it'll be an Electric.
I live in Sydney Australia and I recently swapped from a 17 Yamaha WR450f to a 19 Sherco 300se factory and I love the bike. it's so fun to ride. It's so light and Chuck-able and it has a very linear and progressive type power. Once you get it into the high RPM it does like to sing like a typical two-stroke but if you put it in the rain map the power is very smooth and progressive and is fantastic in the wet muddy and slippery conditions. One of the things I like most about the bike is how well it lugs up hills. The engine can be so low in the rpm but the bike just keeps on ticking over and lugging up any snotty steep hill. Don't get me wrong I loved my WR 450 and I had heaps of fun on that bike. But for my skill level it's just too much bike for me. So I will sum up saying modern two-strokes are awesome! If anyone is considering swapping from a 4-stroke, I would highly recommend taking one for a test ride. Happy riding!! 😁 P.s. awesome video and awesome review thanks mate!

Used to ride 4 stroke when younger XR600/XR350/XR200 plus had 2 Strokes KDX200/KTM 360 then when older (now in fifties) DRZ400 with FMF Pipe(way better that way but still heavy as - what was I thinking) now have a Husaberg TE300 2014 and what a bike - love it to bits wished I had a 2 Stroke like this when I was younger. Was always kinda scared of 2 Strokes for some reason but love them now, super smooth but still aggressive if you want and need to get that way. Favourite all time bikes XR600 and the Husaberg both an absolute blast - but need to be young and stronger for the heavy 4 stroke - that's my 2 cents worth. Great video Manuel :)
Ciao Manuel! Loved the video! Sono un mezzo italiano qui in San Diego, California. I have a Ducati Multistrada as my adventure bike and 2 KTM's as my dirt bikes. I own a 2020 Beta RR300 and a 2019 Beta RR350 Race edition. Both are great bikes with nice engine characteristics. The 300 2-stroke is more versatile. I'm happy to ride it in any scenario. For classic enduro I might prefer the 350 a little bit better, but when the terrain gets slow and technical you can really feel the extra weight and the engine characteristics aren't the best for that type of riding. I leave my 300 in the rain map all the time. I mainly enjoy riding technical hard enduro terrain. The sunny map feels too aggressive for that type of riding. I'm very impressed with the torque and traction of this bike. It's amazing how easily it climbs really steep and loose hills in the 1st gear.
the 300 seems to be the all around perfect bike. i have a 2009 ktm 400 xcw and love it but still want that 2 stroke. Im really impressed with the beta vs big factory name bikes. beta is really paying attention to rider wants. absolutley going beta for new 2 stroke !
Hope to test it asap against my 2021 ! I ever run sun map on rocks and hard single track to help raise the front wheel, and only use rain map on speed slippery road to help go out of turn with more traction.
I switched this year from a 285cc 4T to a 250cc 2T, I ride tight, technical New England trails. Without a doubt the 2T has gobbs more power everywhere and its much less finicky to "torque around" technical stuff, the 2T is better for my riding and terrain... But there is something I miss about the little 4T I had....It was a fun bike to play with, I could crank on it without worry that it would rip away or do anything too nuts. This Husky TE I now ride needs my constant attention and focus, its a wild animal I can't play with... Thanks for the review, I'm always keeping an eye out for what I want to ride next.
Love my 2021 Beta 300 r r! Fully agree with the rain setting on the mapping switch. It makes the bike very tractable. I like running in sun mode as the bike responds quicker when wishing to loft the front wheel over a log or in a rock garden when a blip of the throttle is needed to keep the speed right. Did I say I love the bike? LOL. Great test video
Hello, I am considering buying a 2022 300rr. I am curious about the vibration, does the counterbalance work well? Also, are gas consumption and exhaust pipe leaks problems? I saw a review from a 2020 complaining about these things
I'm about to go from a 2012 KTM SX-F 450 to a 2022 300RR Beta and this video helped settle my mind about the decision. I ride single track in southeast Idaho.
Thanks for the video. I ride a 2021 beta 300 racing and I love it, so smooth and alot of power when I want. I am happy that Beta keeps improving and i believe its the best enduro 2 stroke bike you can get now. I also ride 4 stroke 501 and a 450 husaberg which i enjoy just as much but in different terrain and style. As you say the new 2 strokes 300 is just amazing when it comes to torque and low down power. I use my beta for technical stuff and log, pipes, rock riding and practicing. The only thing I found abit weird with the beta was the big turning radius at first (compared to ktm) but as the speed increases it really help the bike to keep stable. Keep up the good work and nice riding!!
@@saddrums I also did that first of :) But cant really steer more than maximum... So I put them back just to stop the forks hitting the radiator. I did a test with my husqvarna and the beta, full steering lock. The husky/ktm has a tighter steering radius... But that makes the Beta more stable instead.
How far you can or can’t turn the handle bars doesn’t effect how stable the bike is. It’s the geometry: steering angle, rake, and trail along with wheel base and suspension tuning. Ride two bikes that are the same and adjust the steering stops going to feel the same at speed except one will not be as good in slow tech because it can’t turn as tight to maintain balance.
I recently purchased this bike coming from a 2016 KTM 350excf. I was also after the mellow torque from the newer 300s with map switches. What sold me on the Beta was Price the new stroke/bore sizing and the clutch lever feel I also liked the look compared to the KTM. I knew the stock ZF forks where going to need attention the rear shock does respond well to the clickers which surprised me. I also noticed the rear brake does need some time getting used to and the seat is firm and slippery. I thought the counter balance would be better and that is really the only let down of this bike if you ride fire trails at speed and have a firm boot sole you really feel the vibrations through the pegs similar to pre counter balance KTM etc but on slow 2nd and 3rd gear singles I don't notice it much. The problem in Australia is all the 300cc bikes are back order so to buy a new bike you really just have to make the call and put a deposit down months out from delivery.
Hi I have 2022 RR 300, I rode it about 200km classic trail and little bit hardenduro tracks, the suspension especially the fork is stiffer no need extra oil, engine is lively and more torque than 2021 model, overall the whole bike is more playful and stable than 2021 model
I have the 300 RX motocross variant. I'm 180lbs. The shock needs to have a 5mm spacer put in to reduce the stroke, so it can get 105mm sag rather than 110sag to achieve the proper rear ride height. The front, you almost have to slide the forks up til the front wheel almost hits the pipe, then stop. Fork springs are a little soft. Do those and it's a good base to go from there, I THINK but I'll have more seat time tomorrow.
Great video bro keep it up 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Really i like your channel for review bikes Nice bike nice person nice speach 👍 Am confused between beta rr300 race edition 2021 and normal rr300 2022 I will see my dealer in qatar what he have And well get beta rr300 2 strock and thank again and again
Depends on the type of terrain you ride If you ride in the desert, go for the racing version because the kyb are stiffer and will feel better in the faster stuff If you ride extreme enduro go for the standard version, becuase the forks have really good sensibility in the first part of the stroke
For years, I had 4 strokes (350) enduro bikes because I've liked the traction due to great torque and the power is very manageable. But I am getting older (57) , have progressed a bit in my riding, and now ride (almost) the single tracks I used to ride with my trial bike. I felt like i had to change and consider a 2 stroke as I ride in the french alps with lot of technical terrains. But, so far, 2 strokes was impressing me and i was afraid of the power. Especially after trying Tpi/Tei's friends. I thought a good alternative choice would be a beta 300 X Trainer. It appeared to me to be the perfect transition bike between 4 strokes and 2 strokes as the power is pretty much linear and the bikes is lighter and more nimble. After a few rides, I have started to love the XT because it gives you confidence pretty fast. I have started to do things with this bike !i would not dare to do with any others. But at one stage, especially when I need power to get momentum before a steep hill climb or when riding fast on wide open tracke, i have felt a little lack of power. A few days ago, without changing the jettings I installed the RR exhaust. And finally I got the bike I was looking for. Low torque is still there but mid and high revs make the XT much more fun and more efficient. When I am completly fed up with the XT, I might consider buying the 2022 RR model.Any way thanks for the great video and greetings from France
Merci d'avance!
I never use the map switch (always sunny), clutch is great with the beehive spring. Counter balance engine is smooth and lugs great. New skid plate, bark busters with solid mounts, FMF spark arrester, Fastway pegs, disc gaurds and new seat make this a perfect bike for me.
a friend has the 20 250 rr 2t, decent bike but the swing arm caved in from a small end flop, 15004 to replace.. I ave switched from 4t 450 to a 2t yz250x 234lb full of gas, its fast light responsive and eats the competition for breakfast..lol... the betas look nice tho, id love to try a 300rr
No mention of the 300s change to 73 x 69.9mm bore and stroke, where for years 300s of all colours have been bored out 250s : to 72 x 72mm. It's a pretty important change - the shorter stroke may help with over rev, and the flattening of the top end that 300s tend to do, as against 250s. thus, "the limiter has been pushed forward" . " Fat Sausage / Hot Dog on a Bike"? - that's a Good one, by the way. The Beta 250 has retained the 66.4 x 72mm bore and stroke for 2022. By the way, a couple of mates travelled with you at the W.A Safari, one, Mick on another 'Berg, the other, Murf, pitting. They had some good tales to tell........
And another interesting thing I noticed that 2022 RR has the same left valve spacer as Xtrainer has. Maybe it's done to gain another portion of more linear delivery. Xtrainer owners often took it off to get some more power.
Got a 390 RR 4-stroke from 2018 and just about to selling it, considering the 300 2-stroke. I’m not the best rider as started off-road a year ago. But I’m annoyed of the 4stks stalling that easy, especially in challenging terrain. However, the 390 is super to ride and very forgiving. It’s like a tractor up the hill and downhill I’m still greatfull for the engine break😂
love your review I just put a down payment on the 2021 250RR non race edition , I'm so excited I am armature rider looking to improve and a fellow sausage over 200 lbs do you think i should upgrade the front forks with the new insert they have ? as i will use it in woods and on mx track as well thanks for any input
Hi Manuel. Great review, thanks. Who makes the Beta motor? It looks just like a KTM unit. The Beta looks like an interesting bike but not available here in South Africa. I currently ride a Gas Gas 300 EC 2021. Brilliant bike, I bought it after owning 7 successive KTM 300XCW's. I love the 300's, definitely the best 2 stroke displacement for hard/extreme enduro and I find they are getting progressively easier to ride as the years pass. I've spoken to to few people looking to get into the sport who are reluctant to look at a 300 because they have a reputation for producing big power that can get you into trouble. I always tell them they are actually very docile bikes that are easy to manage on the power, particularly with some of the mapping options now available. But when you need power, they produce in a big way.
Hey Craig totally agree with you! The Beta engine use to be Ktm many years ago now Beta actually develops and manufactures its own engine here in Italy :)
Excellent review, Manuel! You clearly explain what most reviewers never mention: how the bike feels and responds to the rider. Beta has improved the bike where needed, such as lightening the clutch pull to match that of the DDS clutch. A little more information about fueling would be appreciated. Does this bike have a carb? Does it have oil injection? Have Beta solved the main bearing issue? Thanks!
Manuel, is there any kit you would recommend to switch from the carb to TBI? Yes, I know that a well tuned carb is better; yet since I often make rides with noticeable altitude changes, the constant stops to fine tune the carb have become unnerving (and, let´s be honest, I am nowhere good enough to tune it well in minutes). Thanks in advance!
No. You'll still need to shave down, swap out or use washers to shim down the lock nut to just before hitting the radiators and it's still not as tight as the others. Not a deal breaker for me. Just gotta get my pivot turns on point.
I've got the 2020 rr300 with oil injection (same bike and engine as this 2022) and i must say fuel economy very much depends on your carb settings. Since yesterday i had my bike running quite rich and it was very thirsty of fuel, yesterday i changed the needle settings and now it's better. Nevertheless, it's not very economical, but if you lean it out a bit (from the factory they are set pretty rich) it's definitely better
Man, no comments about the main upgrade of 2022 bike? It's the new clutch, which allows for better control, especially for hard enduro riders! This is a great update, every rider who has owned a Beta knows what I'm talking about! You should be telling us more about this: how light the clutch feels, how easy is to feather it, when needed etc. That is the kind of info people are expecting, not some info for nerds - look, Beta, has put labels all over the bike for you! I own a 2020 300rr RE bike and my biggest problem with the bike was the clutch I cannot feather it as precisely as I used to do with my former bike, a KTM. With the new dds-like clutch I would definitely consider staying with Beta!
@@MerkeR__ He briefly mentioned it, that is all he said about it. You may not appreciate how important the clutch is and how problematic it was in previous Beta models, compared to competition. If there was one thing making me to consider switching back to KTM family was the poor clutch control on Beta. For me it was too on-off, with very little degree of maniability when trying to feather it. Plus the smell of burnt clutch/oil. Considering how little time the reviewer gives to this topic as compared to the issue of labeling for instance, I was sincerely disappointed.
@@lisimahus I do own a beta i know how the clutch feels, i dont personally see any problems with the clutch. this might be just an overcritical analysis on your behalf.
@@susanhoughton8500 you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not talking about classic enduro or recreational trips in the wood, but proper hard enduro. Lightening the clutch, besides, solves half of the problem, supossing that you don’t have then a problem with clutch slipping. Feathering the clutch is very very important and Beta’s clutch was not very good at it until now. So stop passing advice from other youtube sources. We are proper riders, not keyboard heros here.
if you're riding let's say classic enduro or super fast cross country races 4t may be better than 2t. but if you are going to ride hard enduro stuff, making zik zaks, rivers with huge stones etc 2t is the best option. in catalogues tou may have the same kgs 4t to 2t. but feeling the real weight of the bike is totally different. you can feel in first river that 4t is just a fat cow comparing to 2t
New 2-strokes feels more like a 4-stroke because of more torque in the mid range, that's my opinion after trying injected 300 bikes. The Beta looks like it still uses a traditional carburetor?
@@freschi_2308 Nah they just need to be refined. The dirtbike makers just dont have mastered it yet. FI has been common in 2-stroke snowmobiles for decades already and they work great. They are extremely reliable and they operate in much harsher condition than dirtbikes. (Get thrown around a lot, typical temperature outside when riding is from -5 celcius to -30 celcius) Snowmobiles just overall are extremely reliable. I'm sure we will get there with the 2-stroke dirtbikes too.
Love this bike and want one so bad... but it stills uses a carb. NO WAY. I ride in so many different elevations and am so sick of carbs. Beta is WAY behind if they are still using a carb. Once the go FI I will buy. Maybe next year. So bummed.... was already looking for a dealer here and then saw that.... dang it.
It depends on your needs. If you ride at a constant elevation i definitely prefere carb, i just feel it is more reliable and safer if something goes wrong.
Well, I picked up a 2023 KTM 300XCW TPI. I already regret it. Been tearing it down and doing a bunch of mods that I would NOT have to do had I have gone for the Beta. After seeing all the parts and electronics and relocating the injector too TBi I wish I stuck with a Carb. There is so much to go wrong on the KTM. I'm never going to feel comfortable riding alone or going for super long rides. I'm not done with it yet and have not ridden it. Maybe I will feel different then. Waiting to heal from shoulder surgery, another 2 months before I can ride. But I've had my new KTM almost down to the frame. I always do this to new bikes. Everything that should be greased has so far been bone dry. I NEVER ride my new bikes from the showroom. Time to take them apart it when they are new and clean. Anyway.... just LOTS of moving parts with a full injection system. My bad for not realizing how complicated it makes. amotorcycle. Be MUCH easier to just change jetting.

I have a 2021 RR300, I will ride the 22 model in Romania next week and let you know!
Nice bike. I'd love to try one.
Hi I have 2022 RR 300, I rode it about 200km classic trail and little bit hardenduro tracks, the suspension especially the fork is stiffer no need extra oil, engine is lively and more torque than 2021 model, overall the whole bike is more playful and stable than 2021 model
Merci mec !👍
I agree about 2T's becoming more "user friendly". I am going from a 2T to a 4T because I'm getting older and want more relaxed ride
Great video bro keep it up 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Really i like your channel for review bikes
Nice bike nice person nice speach 👍
Am confused between beta rr300 race edition 2021 and normal rr300 2022
I will see my dealer in qatar what he have
And well get beta rr300 2 strock and thank again and again
Depends on the type of terrain you ride
If you ride in the desert, go for the racing version because the kyb are stiffer and will feel better in the faster stuff
If you ride extreme enduro go for the standard version, becuase the forks have really good sensibility in the first part of the stroke
When I get done with my 2023 KTM XCW build I might just sell it and get the 2023 Beta. I WANT A CARB!!!!
I’m in the process of buying a spanking new 2024 rr300 right now.
I never use the map switch (always sunny), clutch is great with the beehive spring. Counter balance engine is smooth and lugs great. New skid plate, bark busters with solid mounts, FMF spark arrester, Fastway pegs, disc gaurds and new seat make this a perfect bike for me.
Thanks for the review. How is the vibration? Does the counterbalance work?
Good lookin machince
a friend has the 20 250 rr 2t, decent bike but the swing arm caved in from a small end flop, 15004 to replace..
I'm a fat sausage on the motorbike...lol I know its not that important, but I like the brightly painted frame color. looks like a nice bike.
love your review I just put a down payment on the 2021 250RR non race edition , I'm so excited I am armature rider looking to improve and a fellow sausage over 200 lbs do you think i should upgrade the front forks with the new insert they have ? as i will use it in woods and on mx track as well thanks for any input
Personally I would put stiffer springs both on front and rear
Thanks!
yes, Yes and Yes.
Thanks in advance!
i like Beta it's a perfect brand
Did they give the bike a tighter turning radius? Great review. Thank you.
No. You'll still need to shave down, swap out or use washers to shim down the lock nut to just before hitting the radiators and it's still not as tight as the others. Not a deal breaker for me. Just gotta get my pivot turns on point.
I lika this video. I thinka I might getta Betta because it isa gooda bike and a nica clutcha.
Daniel Alves , do Barcelona para as trilhas. O cara é fd.
Una bomba
What's fuel economy like on this bike? Any mods you feel are needed on the carb set up?
I've got the 2020 rr300 with oil injection (same bike and engine as this 2022) and i must say fuel economy very much depends on your carb settings. Since yesterday i had my bike running quite rich and it was very thirsty of fuel, yesterday i changed the needle settings and now it's better. Nevertheless, it's not very economical, but if you lean it out a bit (from the factory they are set pretty rich) it's definitely better
100-110 km per tank aprox
Im in the market for a 300 soon, what would u recommend beta, sherco, gas gas, TM, ktm or husky
TM😁😁😁
Pick a color...man, we live in great times!
@@davidlinstrom3532 gonna go the gas gas🤟
Beta 300cc To Stok How Much US Dollar ?
I am from Pakistan nice boy Nice Bike
color scheme Beautiful
Your video made me consider a Beta
He did talk about it, he said how it has a lighter clutch feel and gives less arm pump. What more can you say about a lighter clutch
@@lisimahus I do own a beta i know how the clutch feels, i dont personally see any problems with the clutch. this might be just an overcritical analysis on your behalf.
very easy to lighten the clutch on Beta's, see you tube.
I'm Sold, only if I can get the better half to agree on it
if you're riding let's say classic enduro or super fast cross country races 4t may be better than 2t. but if you are going to ride hard enduro stuff, making zik zaks, rivers with huge stones etc 2t is the best option. in catalogues tou may have the same kgs 4t to 2t. but feeling the real weight of the bike is totally different. you can feel in first river that 4t is just a fat cow comparing to 2t
Carb or tpi?! Help me decide peeps
Tpi=💩. Inyectors just of 4 stroke
New 2-strokes feels more like a 4-stroke because of more torque in the mid range, that's my opinion after trying injected 300 bikes. The Beta looks like it still uses a traditional carburetor?
Yes they still run carburetor!
Carburator with much more power than any injection model
kawasaki,honda,suzuki,yamaha,ktm:welcome to the competence BETA....
I'm a fat sausage also and love to ride
Why beta is still not FI?
because fi is not a reliable thing on 2 strokes, for example, tm has fi engines but they are very fragile
"I am a fat sausage on a motor bike"
After beta told their customers to sod off after having main bearing issues I will happily take my money else where.
That’s not the story here in the States. Beta USA took care of every bike owner. Always do. Best customer service in all of moto.

There insanely hard to get in America tho and that’s sad
Hell in s.w PA we have a dealer that sells beta sherco ktm Husqvarna rieju and gas gas
