Unpopular opinion : the Tissot Gentleman is better than the prx with a timeless design and higher quality movement while staying under 1k.
@@vokso11 especially a preowned. I snagged a Gentleman 18k gold bezel and black dial for $700 on eBay. It looks amazing in person.
I reckon the Gentleman as a one watch because it has a standard bracelet and looks really good on other straps so you can dress it up or down while a PRX with several watches because it’s more unique with that sporty integrated bracelet look.

The Tissot’s are my favorites. I’ve had a Tissot PRC 200 for about 20 years and I wear that watch the most. I have a steel Sub,A Santos and a Omega but the Tissot is my daily

I love the Alpinist... only issue is that it's a bit chunky but works well on the whole. Good watch for the price.

For less than $1k happen to like vintage Longines, vintage Zodiac and the venerable Vostok Amphibia once I upgrade the bezel to a ceramic insert and change the band.

Timex and Casio have some decent watches around there; for example the Timex Weekender and Casio Duro can be found for under $50. You could cop one of those and/or save up a bit more ($100-200) for something like an Orient Bambino or a Seiko 5.

Wait, don't quartz watches last 3 years before you have to change the battery? What's up with the Seiko Speedtimer???
Solar powered, so the capacitor lasts months and not years since it's not a battery. But you can give it a nice bath in the sun for a few hours every other month to keep it running. I own the speed timer.
Keeping time is also quite useful, which my Seiko 5 does not do.
I love my Galaxy watch 6. It has way more features

Have you ever held a Tissot PRX in your hand? The wristband and case have extremely sharp edges. Nothing is deburred. There are better watches from Certina with a better automatic movement. No escapement components made of plastic. And at a similar price to Tissot. Like the DS-7 Powermatic C043.407.22.091.00. Costs €895 in Germany. Waterproof. Better quality of movement and much better workmanship. The PRX costs a little over €100 less than the Certina. But the quality is much better.

The PRX PM 80 movement is impossible to adjust... such a weird setup. Citizen has released similar models for under $500, even with titanium cases and bracelets.

I only got 1 watch. Bought in 1981 it is a $12 Casio. I only change the batteries. Why do I need another watch? I use watch to tell time and nothing else.

I must be an old dude.. I remember as a kid, that Seiko's were dirt cheap... Just a regular, robust work-a-day brand.. I guess times change & brands try to move up the pecking order.
Dont get the Tissot PRX powermatic 80. I love the Tissot PRX but the automatic movement has so many plastic components which basically makes servicing it more expensive than just buying an entire new movement. Just buy the Quartz, its cheaper looks better. And if you want an automatic one just spend like 200 more and get a MAEN manhattan 37, or a baltic

Christopher ward, farer, wise, brew have a lot of time pieces that are way in quality than seiko 5s. Should expand your horizon.
