Minecraft’s Best Update…

- The Minecraft 1.21 update just came out and I must say it is incredibly impressive! I can't wait to start playing it! However there is one more, VERY cool update in the form of the Distant Horizons mod! So if you've ever wondered how this mod works, here is the main principle!

“Remember when Minecraft ran well on your pc? Yeah Me-“
*famous last words*
Yeah Me- Oh- My- P-C!!!
The number of mods that drastically improve the game’s performance brings into question just what the hell the people in charge of optimizing at Mojang are doing
Designing, coding, and implementing 4 mobs that take about a month max to finish and then having y'all vote to only release one, even though all of them are fully game ready to make it seem like they give y'all something you want and throwing out the rest or banking them so they can offer you crumbs next vote.
@@Daf__XLthey just have some random intern make three sketches and ideas and then hire someone to make the animations for the CZcams channel, they don’t make the mobvote mobs in game!
@@Daf__XLAlso if you look at each weeks changelog, you can see that they made around 50 bugfixes on both bedrock and Java or added lots of technical changes or added lots of new things. I’ll send a list of all features 1.21 brings, these are a lot!
@@Daf__XLThis update brings a new structure with randomly generated rooms that themselves have variations.
It brings the trial spawner and vault, it brings the breeze and bogged. It brings lots of new commands and datapack changes, hundreds of bug fixes on both versions and specific devices.
It brings the ominous trial chamber a hard mode of the already pretty hard trial chamber, it brings new sherds, banner paterns, armour trims, music discs, the breeze rods, the heavy core and the mace.
It brings twenty new paintings.
It brings new copper blocks and tuff blocks. It brings the copper bulb, autocrafter, ominous potion, better Redstone drop rates for witches and wind charges.
For Bedrock it is brings spectator and hardcore mode alongside better built in shaders.
(It kinda brings the armadillo and wolf variants even tho they released earlier.)
That’s a lot of features even though the main job of the game-designers of Mojang is fixing bugs and optimising the game (which they did a lot in 1.21)
@@Daf__XLthis update also brings a lot of bugfixes, if you look at each weeks bedrock and Java changelog, you can see that they made lots of technical and datapack improvements for mod and research pack developers of fixed around fifty bugs on both platforms or added lots of new features.
Also most employees of Minecraft aren’t coders they work on sound design, art design, marketing, managing, other games, etc.
All too often do people forget that 1.15 was almost entirely dedicated to updating and optimizing the games old code, making it run significantly better on both java and bedrock.
And all too often people don’t realise that the game is still horrendously poorly optimised to the point where bedrock has performance issues on previous gen consoles. It doesn’t need a performance update, it needs a full rebuild.
@@christopherpittaway8902 All I said was that the dev team has put effort into updating old code. I never said they fixed the problem, just that they addressed it and made steps toward fixing it. There’s no need to get up in arms.
@@christopherpittaway8902 wasn't windows 10 edition supposed to be the full rebuild 😭😭
It’s not just that, it’s also simulation distance. Even if you can see it, nothing can happen there unless you move closer
Simulation distance is already a vanilla feature
@@miliIguess I think most of us know that, I was just providing extra context
My notification sound is the legend of zelda tune jingle so whenever i watch these i think i got a message
How do you set custom notification sounds? I have a Galaxy S22 and I can't figure it out
@@hyliastone286 I think there's a place where you can find tutorials about everything, let me think... Oh yeah ! CZcams :D
@@hyliastone286 I got a s23 ultra and have the Sonic ring collect sound effect as mine
Don’t forget that it doesn’t work unless you also install the Fredrick mod.
Peakdotkom covering both my favorite Minecraft mod and also how the bad code hurts vanilla java
This actually also is used in totk
It's used in nearly everything. Minecraft is actually the only one I can think of that doesn't do this.
@@aspookyladmusic4954 ya fr
@@aspookyladmusic4954 Seriously. Mario 64 used LODs, for example. It's been standard that long.
Everyone does it, Minecraft is the only one who doesn't
That sucks
I know it's a meme at this point, but Minecraft 2 would go so hard right now. We need a major engine update.
@@dexterity494 I kind of hope we don't get a Minecraft 2. Because I know for sure that if they ever make a new game like that, there will not be a Java edition. And seeing how Mojang and Microsoft are quietly making modding Bedrock addition (unless you get their tool kit specifically made for just the add-ons in the store) pretty much impossible.
We all know that a Minecraft 2 would absolutely be Micro transaction heavy, with no real modding scene.
@@NotTheDragon837
> There will not be a Java edition... Bedrock has limited modding
Part of that actually has to do with the platforms they're on. Java edition is so easily moddable because it's on PC, not because it's Java edition. If they made "Java" edition 2 through unity or unreal (neither of which are java languages), it would still be a breeze to mod, because it's on PC rather than console.
@@dexterity494 I just said that if they made a Minecraft 2, they likely wouldn't bother with a Java edition at all. No Unity or Unreal, it would just be the one new "Bedrock" edition. And that's why I wouldn't want them to make a new game
He explained something like this when explaining loading the whole world for botw and totk
I'm 99%sure they've been untangling the code since 1.12, when they cimpletely overhauled how the background works. Every time they add a new game rule it's because they managed to put together all the spaghetti code that controls it
Mario Galaxy 2 music my beloved
Salt update: adds sodium
I’ve actually noticed that in specific cases having distant horizons can actually make Minecraft much laggier than normal
I know performance has gotten worse over the last few years, but I have noticed more and more performance improvements. Like the lighting engine rewrite in 1.20, and it even feels like they improved memory usage a little in 1.21 along with vastly improving world creation speed.
*installs Distant Horizons*
I heard Minecraft.
*_CBSMP?_*
PLEASE
And you see, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet do the opposite of this. You actually have to be right next to something for it to look good! Its so unique!
Very cool!! If I remember right the games Legend of Zelda BOTW and TOTK have a similar thing to this and that’s why they look beautiful with little lag(at least in my experience I see little lag).
Literally every modern to semi modern game has LOD
Gotta love how the switch runs at 2 frames a second in the trial chambers 😢
It’s more realistic too because in real life if you see stuff far away it’s gonna be a bit blurry aswell
GIVE ME CHICKEN BURGER REBOOT NOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW
You mean CHICKEN SANDWICH?!
Now i have to finish xenoblade 3
Breath of the Wild (and Tears of the Kingdom) utilized lower detail in the distance SO MUCH which is why you can see across the entire map and still run well. Distant trees in BotW and TotK are literally swapped out for flat PNG versions of trees, and you can't even tell the difference. Genius.
Dude I get 180 fps on an rtx 3060 laptop gpu on vanilla lmfao, I am running on a realm with some friends so that helps but 16 chunks of render distance is really super livable
I think the next best thing to improve with the mod would be if a block is magnified by a spyglass the quality would improve?
Got the same keyboard, amazing choice
I don't remember when minecraft ran well on my pc, mainly because i got minecraft, but i just had so many issues trying to get the couple of quality of life mods working, that i just gave up, & haven't even loaded into a world on pc yet
PEAK DELTARUNE SONG
"Without dying" yeaaah about that, from what i've heard from friends and tested, DH does actually sometimes tank your performance, most of my friends and me can't run dh without loosing 80% of performance given by sodium.
And now all of a sudden when i want to test it again, dh straight up won't work even if mc boots up correctly and dh is active
I gave my friend a mod pack to play with me and he added the distant horizon mods he also told me about it and now i use it every time I play
10/10 Xenoblade mentioned
Don't forget about Nvidium, steady frame-rates + never losing quality over distance . ( The only downside is that it needs an rtx card i think 3070 or above, smtg like that )
Bobby, sodium and nvidium allows skipping distant horizons entirely!
Distance horizon actually destroys my fps from 10-20 to 5-10😂
I just want distant horizons 1.21
Also make sure to change the amount of ram it uses in the launcher
They also killed modding bedrock btw
because microsoft doesn't have enough money already and just *needs* more
Kirby’s air ride music!?!?
By the way the distant horizons mod works a million times better on a server that doesn't have the mod installed because it doesn't constantly generate more and more distant chunks and just saves the chunks you've been at so you're able to get up to 2048 blocks of distance without a single drop of frames
I wish they made it so single player could also do that so that it doesn't lag out your system trying to make your distant horizons bigger and bigger
But it is 100% worth it when you get to the end and you're able to see every single end city you've already been to
Just out in the distance
The original Spyro trilogy used this as well so they wouldn't have to use fog
Tbh, as I’m a console player frame rate has never really been a problem unless someone drops about 20+ lingering potions
Actually recently Mojang has updated the code for stuff like the lighting engine and other things so that it runs better and now lighting engine optimization mods aren't that effective anymore
I LOVE DISTANT HORIZONS WITH IRIS
Honestly that should be in the base game
I think the funniest part about this is that this is one of the things that makes Java different from bedrock different cause bedrock already has this
Minecraft runs well on my PC despite it being a I3, or something bad around it, and it can even run mods, for a Intel prebuilt it runs really well
I would recommend Sodium with it, since it makes performance so good my potato of a pc can run Minecraft of max settings with 120 fps
Bro after like 3 hours I finally got the mace
This is one of the main reasons I play bedrock, cuz it has that in the base game
It doesn't actually
Micraft runs perfect on consol
All I wish is to have shaders on the ps5 version
Xenoblade 3 referenced. Based.exe loaded. I love it,
It runs well… on 10 chunks of render distance. Although I usually play with mods so that’s probably not helping 😂
Honestly it’s weird but pre-1.21 my computer STRUGGLED to play without the optimization mods.
Now? In 1.21 it runs as smooth as butter. Literally reaching 300+ fps where before i’d be lucky to get 60. I think they did a lot of optimization in this update, at least for java.
Sodium joined the chat
i had to download a fabric modpack to play vanilla 1.21 (that could also be because my laptop is just too bad)
Sodium mod 😍
Bed rock is clucked you go to piller and you fall to your death because the block flickers in and out of existence making you fall in and get pushed out to your death
I wish LODs were a thing in Minecraft like it was in literally every other game I know
easy solution : get a 3k rig to brute force everything with ray tracing included. remember kids 4090 are for studying.
Bruh my PC is kinda old (2015-2019 specs) and runs Minecraft perfectly
I have to set my game to like, 3 chunks
Lego worlds also does this by making farther away things be built from bigger bricks
PEAKNOBLADE YOU WON A SUB MY GUY
you know what they say.
"OH MY 𝙿 𝙲- "
Is that not what MipMap levels are for?
Ah yes, mahjong doing it's best job to optimize their game
They really need to just have another update like 1.15 where it doesn’t add too much but makes the game more playable. Also for bedrock edition they really need to improve the switch version in some way because it should not be as bad as it is.
The major versions as they are like checkpoints of getting what you want but still having the game run are
1.20
1.16
1.12
1.8
1.7
And before that is unnecessary unless you just want to go back for nostalgia or something
Dog my villager raid was so broken that I had to cheat in pillagers to finish it and no hero of the village for me
i downloaded fabulously optimized and my fps went from 300 to 1600
OPTIFINE WHEEEEEENNNNN AAAHHHHHHH
Me with 400 fps at 32 chunks:
I have DiD so xenoblade 2 will always be peak
You also have Nvidium which is like Distant Horizons BUT all blocks are displayed at full quality and.iz exclusive to Nvidia cards cause it uses some Nvidia card exclusive Mesh Shader stuff
😮😮😮 PEAKNOBLADE 3 LETS GOOO
Minecraft is a quite cpu bound game
LAGva moment
alternative for older computers that run windows ME and below: classicube
XENOBLADE 3 MENTIONED 🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️
Xenoblade chronicles 3 mentioned
One Word: sodium
But thid is just an ad for distant horizons not a solition to the lag... nice
Ive noticed on my ps4 if i go high enough some surrounding blocks look less good mabye thats how bedrock gets away with having a big render distance
laughs ins tf2
Mine runs at 240 fps locked
Since when did it run well on any pc
Before 1.13 it was really good quality without any mods like optifine or (the better one) sodium
I love mods but its unoptimized as hell
imagine getting low fps, im running 1600 at 32 render distance
I realy want the Japanese version of your keyboard lol
From what I can tell a similar *effect* is created in real life.
But it’s only an illusion.
Which is why it works so well here
Think that’s what Bedrock already does too, which is why their allowed render distance is so high
Ah ha. Distant horizons absolutely destroys my framerate
New update install shaders without Optfine or mods.
I literally downloaded a pack of TWENTY THREE mods today (fabulously optimised) JUST so 1.21 can be playable. Crazy how you go from 40fps in the core game, to 160+ with mods!
Tip #2: get sodium.
nessecary - got me 60fps to 200
Tip #3: get nvidium if possible
@@Axolotlaxe21 very true
Got me from 118 to 119
I love spending 4k on a PC just for 200fps at 1080p
Who the hell spends 4K on a pc?
