    This scene and season always make me choke up. Coach Taylor's relationship with Vince in the last two seasons is something that always drives me back to coaching. I'd love to make an impact in young people's lives the same way Coach Taylor does.

      The part that always brings me back to coaching is a few years you might have Jason with everything it takes, and end up with a Matt with no experience. Then a few years later your rebuilding with all all new kids. From one coach to another learning how to teach these kids more than X's & O's is what brings us back, despite the kids situation.

    This is the perfect encapsulation for Coach Taylor in this show. He was a true father figure to Vince, Smash, Riggins, and Saracen. All of their fathers for different reasons weren't very present for them during high school. Even while trying to win games at a high pressure job, he was always giving his all to support his players like they were his children.

  • @greggoldsmith996
    @greggoldsmith996 Před 2 lety +40

    In the end it worked out for coach Taylor. Yes it sucked his program got canceled, but to it made the decision way easier (at least in my opinion) to move to Philly so his wife could become the dean of admissions at a great college up there and for him to coach college ball. Considering how West Dillon treated him in the final year of his contract in season 3 etc. Coach taylor was too good for West Dillon and they never deserved to have him back. They messed up big time

    • @jayzee7538
      @jayzee7538 Před rokem +1

      Good points, but the West Dillon treating him bad was more on the McCoys. When the McCoys weren't around West Dillon was Taylor's kingdom. McCoys thankfully left. If he would've went back to West Dillon it would've been like Seasons 1&2 Panthers.

      @@jayzee7538 for sure, but those people should've told McCoy to back off instead of siding with him. But they did it because he was powerful and was wealthy. Buddy was the only one who saw through McCoy's b.s. It took him a while but eventually he started to figure it out and was the only one loyal to coach out of all the boosters.

      It was bad writing. In reality, the cancellation decision would've been held off a month after the State Championship Game. One month because it allows the emotions from the game (win or lose) to wear off and then you announce the cancellation.

    East Dillon players, fans and alumni really had nothing to be ashamed of at this point, in just two years they beat the panthers which in turn eliminated them from the playoffs & the following year they beat them again and won state, imo they could hang their hats on that knowing they went out on top.
