  • In this video, I show you how to brew a Belgian Pale Ale. This video covers the recipe, the brew, fermentation and the final tasting. Belgian Pale Ales, also known as Singles (Singels) or Belgian Table Beers, have been brewed by Belgian Monks for centuries. These beers are typically made from the second runnings from the mash for a Tripel or Quadruppel and are characteristically low ABV, easy drinking and exceptionally balanced. My attempt at the style tasted fantastic, but was plagued by chill haze, which takes away from what the beer could have been. This style is supposed to be clear, not hazy. Overall the final result was 5.3% ABV with 22 IBUs.
Update: The chill haze was gone after about a week and a half at serving temp in the keg!!

It's so awesome haha, really cuts down on all that time spent bottling. Part of why I made this channel was to document the process improvements made along the way, glad you're enjoying the channel!

Great video! I’ve actually learned a lot from your channel! Great job! I currently have a 2 Row Smash in primary utilizing Ekuanot as the hop. It’s being fermented by omega Hornindal Kveik, awesome yeast.

Actually, for me personally, a little haze in belgians makes it more aligned with the yeast ester flavors.
It just doesn't taste the same when it's too clear...

Great vid man. Tip for the transfer if u have hops or spices, get a bazooka screen for your kettle. Rad keezer man. Now I just have to start negotiating with my wife about me getting a keezer. :)

Thanks! That's a good idea. I'm thinking about getting a false bottom screen for my kettle so I can do some more involved mashes. Think that would work?

4.5-5% abv is just a standard beer. Table beers should be 1-2% abv.
