- Our first Staff Cars update since PPC went to CZcams. Charlie Broomfield has taken his mammoth 27-litre V12 Meteor tank engine out of his Rover SD1. Why? In search of more power and that elusive 200mph.
Will finally drags his Merc C126 out of the barn after much badgering, Ben gets rid of his own barn find Merc and decides to go back in time.

Literally wet myself when Charlie said the Trolleys are only a quid each!!! Brilliant!!! As for the 205... Honda K20!
This is exactly what the doctor ordered! Just the right length and exactly what I'd hoped. Thanks very much chaps - looking forward to this as a regular feature.
Love Charlie, he is a character "trolly only cost a quid!!" Great to see Will's Merc again and I think Ben should stick a MI16 in the 205.
Good luck Javid!
“they are only a quid each”
lidl has joined the chat 👺
🤣🤣🤣
Great vid guys! There’s a guy stuck a Volkswagen 1.9 pd engine in a 205 and it runs some serious power! Might be worth considering
Always loved the C/W126 "Road House" SEC, still looks in pretty good nick for being shut up for 5 or 6 years. Great update guys.
Yup, it was certainly a relief to say the least!
500 merc is class 👌 and Charlie's SD1 is as interesting as it always has been
Great stuff guys, keep it coming 👍
Glad you enjoyed 😎
Nice to see the 500SEC alive and kicking! Charlie doesn't half faff around, does he! Took me several weekends to remove a speed six from my TVR that's only a quarter the size of a Merlin, if that.
Enjoyed the episode. I'll pull my finger out now, head over to patreon and become a patron.
Oh, and get your merchandise shop up and running! The PPC logo is so great, I'd buy big stickers like you had on the Rolls Royce, mugs, hoodies and t-shirts!
Send a PPC sticker to SuperfastMatt and he'll stick it to his salt flat racer.
Thanks for the comments Bernard. Yes indeed, we are planning on getting some merchandise going before too long 😁
Now this is PRACTICAL performance.
You know it 😁
The rusty W115 is a bit like dropping the child's Kinder egg , "bit crumbly on the outside, but the toy is mint" 😅
It's a thing of beauty. Obviously Ben bought it blind. He's a bit impulsive 🤣
Another brilliant video, thanks. As for the 205 GTi, how about fitting a PSA 1.6 THP engine? I know they've got a bad reputation however I've had two now (156 and 208 THP) and they've been great, plenty of torque/power and extremely reliable (in my experience over 100k now). They're also cheap to buy and keeping a PSA mill seems right somehow.
Charlie FTW
Superb efforts all round. Gangster coupe a runner and looking great. Charlie bonkers as ever. Trollies only a quid each. Ha ha. Red merc hopefully getting a heap of bodyshop time thrown at it by the sounds of it.
I suppose the engineless 205 needs a tuned fiat 500 / punto abarth engine, as they seem to be on the right side of the cost / horsepower/ weight thing at the moment. K20 turbo obvious choice but hellishly expensive.
Ive still got the 4x4 turbo anglia that was in the mag back in the day. Hasnt been on the road in 17 years.....
We'll have to pay you a visit when you get it back on the road 😁
@@ppcmagazine that would be cool. It shares barn space with a couple of other misfits as well. A 340 volvo with a 480 turbo engine, and a rear wheel drive mondeo eurocar spaceframe from the 90's with a 300hp saab b204 in. And a mk2 zodiac with a mk2 capri roof on it.
This was a good pace, great reinvention of staff car sagas from the printed era. On the fixed pieces - car restarts, underbonnet stuff, you need to invest in a multiple camera set up. Keep it up though!
Oh yeah, we definitely do. We've got a lot more kit now. Onwards and upwards - and glad you enjoyed it!
Since we're talking about old PPC cars, whatever happened to the Turbo Rolls-Royce you had? The last time I saw it, it had its roof cut off.
It's still around! We're in touch with the owner. A visit will be happening at some point 😁
Charlie got the Meteor engine out of a Military scrapyard for 1k
The "scrubbing" nozzle for the jetwash is intended for patios & driveways not car bodywork!
The paintwork had so much dirt on it that it was starting to resemble a patio 😄
There only a quid each 😂😂😂😂😂
Stick a V8 in it!
Put a Hayabusa engine in your GTI!
Tempting!
Overweight transit 😂
