Practical Performance Car
United Kingdom
Registrace 19. 10. 2007
Practical Performance Car is the home of performance cars and tuning for grown-ups. Originally launched as a print magazine in 2004, PPC has now evolved into a fully fledged CZcams channel featuring a fusion of all things automotive.
Focusing on classic cars that enthusiasts can (and do) build on their drive/garage/shed/living room floor, PPC is hosted by magazine founder and editor, Will Holman, and long-term contributor, Ben Allen.
Will and Ben are both petrolheads with an unhealthy obsession about buying/fixing/destroying/hoarding old cars. Cars with personality, cars with soul, cars for the love of (cool) cars.

German power meets 60s British? This Husky is far from traditional - but the one behind it really is
PPC's Will Holman discovers Dom and Andy's chalk and cheese Hillman Huskies. One is a beautifully restored and standard(ish) and the other is hiding a BMW bike engine under the boot floor - as well as many other goodies. How does it sound? Rather tasty if we do say so ourselves.

Engine swapped Fiat Panda sleeper terrorizes the countryside. Daily use supercar chaser? Obviously.

PPC's Will Holman has a terrifying experience riding in Barry's rather nuts Fiat Panda that's powered by a twin cam 16 valve Fiat engine. From a glacial 40 horsepower to well into three figures, this Italian fridge weighs basically nothing and surprises a lot of people - and Barry isn't shy to let it rip. Buy us a pint, please. How? I always prefer the coupe of this Jaguar..Absolutely stunning.
Dom and Andy...love;ly guys !
The Tartan , although "Golf"..is also a nod to Linwood ! Love it
Series 2. I adore these jags. It's quite the special, I'd be happy with a Coupe in the six.
It sounds absolutely fantastic. I have owned a Panda myself and loved it - great little car.
A guy here has a Mini with a WRX engine in it and its a ripper
Love the Linden tree in the back ground and of course the car
A Honda Goldwing flat 6 could go well in one of those. 1800cc, plenty of torque and 100hp.
One word: sandles 😬
Barry , a legend , top bloke
Hi Dom, I new if it was an IMP feature you'd be involved.
Totally spoilt by the music - it's the exhaust that everyone wants to hear.
It sounds awful!!
Brilliant! This car should have a profile in the dictionary under “sleeper”. The cars were genius to start with, really only lacking power.
Tartan interior fits with cars Scotish routes!
I had a BMW K1200r bike and I believe the bhp was 163
Bring on the (Practical Performers!) keep up the good work the Tube channel is growing, I’m one of the old school followers just waiting In anticipation of what the actual… is coming next .
My first 2 cars were panda 4x4’s . All ways loved fiats after being in a 131 when I was a kid. I have the limited edition stilo no 13 now, will never sell it.
I once seen a hill imp (sunbeam stiletto). With a vw camper gearbox and a subaru 2.2 engine. Looked amazing.
BRAKES! Why would you more than double the power but keep the brakes standard???
Phwoar... bloody lovely
The match between the engine and the car is spot on. Great thinking.
Gotta love the Imp platform, but man that front wheel camber looks stupid in the extreme.
Drove an unmodified 2CV to Andorra and back from UK once, 4 people and camping gear. The fascinating thing about the original engine is, it's absolutely fine just to leave your foot flat on the throttle the entire time. Made it there and back without the slightest incident. The car is so basic and direct, some things really make you smile, like the design of the front air vent. It couldn't be simpler (or more prone to rust, see also the boot hinge)
I am totally into square design in cars. I drove Simca 1000 times 3 at the time. A Volvo 245 was always my dream car. I wasn’t aware of the existence of these at the time. I really REALLY like the looks of them. I would not have mined them being not the fastest.
The Fiat Panda. A car that has charm, charisma and character that today's cars sadly lack. Long live the Panda!
New cars are so ugly and boring.
@@tadficuscactus I agree. Don't get me started on the BMW iX and Tesla Model 3!
The original imp motors where a complete disaster.
Sounded so cool going through the viaduct ! 😁👍👍👍
Old Fiats LOVE too RUST!! wolf in sheeps clothing 🤣🤣 reminds me of the FXGT Corolla's ( i test drove one, boy it went well i did not buy it, i wanted my licence, 4th gear 3000rpm 100kph it would go up to 7000rpm + 5th gear to go!! )
On the motorway and a standard looking 2cv blows by you in your modern car 🤣🤣
Holy cow 🎉
Did I see this parked in Preston Candover the other day? It’s brilliant by the way.
Quite possibly!
Your front negative camber looks silly !!!!
Fantastic! I wish Imps had been a thing here in the states. They’re both aweesome , but I would be especially overjoyed to have one with the BMW engine! Does Andy(?) have any of his conversions in America?
With a gut that size now we know why he needed more power!
Add a few extra earth straps. If ones gone others probally need replacing.
SUPER !TOLLE AUTOS !!! GRÜSSE AUS BAYERN!! SERVUS!!☑☑☑
I concur with the owner - It stays too low, seeming over-weight - so a raise should give better ground clearance, and make it look unaltered & lighter .
Always giggling every time i saw a ridiculous little car like this 🤣🤣🤣
Very interesting. However, I saw "Husky" and immediately thought of the old Hillman Husky which was a variant of the the MInx, and the van version, the Commer Cob. I suppose, thinking about it they were 1950's not 60's. Back in the 70's my next door neighbour had a Hillman Husky, it had an old side valve engine if I remember rightly. Which I don't do very often at my age!
Is that Digswell Viaduct ?
Harringworth Viaduct!
My first car was a husky way back in 1973 loved that car. So wish I still had it. Great to see two fine examples still on the road.
The red one looks a bit odd from the front, though I can't say exactly why. I once helped my girlfriend upgrade her standard saloon by fitting most of the interior trim from the Singer fastback variant.
It's great to see how car enthusiasts are dedicated and creative. Great car !
I've always fancied a bike engined imp. I REALLY want one now!
Dom's your man if you need any advice 😁
I can sell you one Malcolm with a Honda Blackbird engine in the back. Dom does a great job with the BMW conversions in Imps and his Clan. 👌
I remember the Imp but neve seen one like this, some nice Imps to
That bike engine seems like a great idea. Less than quarter of the cost of doing a 100bhp imp unit. But sounds the same with out the rebuild costs that occur far to often.
Loads of fun for little money. His engine is the same as the new panda 100hp. It's the same core unit I've started with I'm currently building a Punto 188 sporting for the hills, originally a 1250 75hp as they all were. Ratios in the 6 speed box are still too high and stuck on 148 bhp from the now 1397cc motor. Needs bigger valves but at £68 per valve x 16, just can't justify it for another 15-20 hp. Club motorsport as it's always been🙂
Lower the white one, would look so much better !
Fond memories of the van.
