Labour MP Naz Shah responds to a viral video of her being confronted by a Bradford West resident while out campaigning for the general election.
In the video, the unidentified man calls Shah a “genocide supporter” and a “Zionist” for refusing to stand down from the Labour Party amid criticism over comments its leader Keir Starmer made in support of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Shah has been outspoken on Palestinian issues in the past, and in November resigned from her position on the Labour shadow cabinet to vote for a ceasefire, breaking away from her party’s line. She is now standing as a Labour candidate in the Bradford West seat she’s held since 2015.
In an interview with The Big Picture Podcast, she says that she believes the anger over Gaza was felt by many in her community, but the attacks on her and other Labour candidates were unfair and counterproductive.

Didn’t Naz Shah refuse to call it a genocide? I’m looking for any of her speeches where she has mentioned the words genocide, the apartheid, ethnic cleansing and war crimes of Israel or called for sanctions and charges to be brought forward? Between her teary statements about children of Gaza and broken dreams of Palestinian children becoming astronauts and other fluff I failed to see any meaningful words of condemnation coming from this MP. What’s the point if you can’t say what needs to be said?

Reading your "about" section I see I am not the demographic you are primarily targeting, but I have been subscribed for a while as all world news interests & concerns me. I don't condone this MP's family origins being used in a derogatory manner, though if a person's background is relevant to a subject being discussed or promoted then I think it's fair game. However I don't understand how this woman squares representing the political party that she does, with empathy & support for the Palestinian people. Her party have done less than the bare minimum to in anyway support the Palestinians. I believe she (or anyone else) should at the very least be embarrassed by their leadership, so I don't buy into her self pity here.
The reference to ‘dirty Pakistani politics’ was actually very relevant and not racist considering it was said by a Pakistani with a British sounding accent.
In Pakistan we had an actual independent leader called Imran Khan that said ‘absolutely not’ to continue American drone bombings. He said in a rallying speech that ‘we are not your slaves’ (to the west). This led to an intervention by Americans whereby the Prime Minister of Pakistan was illegitimately ousted and replaced with a puppet whose motto is ‘beggars can’t be choosers’ as they take their bundles of fake Monopoly money from the yanks 💰 💵
