I still don't understand how these fires start all the time!

I remember driving from Santa Barbara to San Diego through a massive fire on both sides of the grapevine back in the early 2000s. Whole streets of homes on fire, swirling smoke, crazy winds. I was terrified the whole way through.

Gorman is not on the grapvine. It's about 4 miles from the top end. Also said fire is moving Southeast (away from grapevine).

All in California ( former Cali here) know that it is part of the hwy N of Los Angeles. It is a switchback like format of going up or down the pass.
