Installing the Pedal Commander on My 3RD Generation TOYOA TACOMA!! *BIG GAINS!*

  • Time for a power modification for the Tacoma!!! In today's video I install the pedal commander on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma!! This is one of the simplest mods to install and takes about 1 minute. Simply disconnect the connection behind the gas pedal and install the new wiring and that's it! There are 4 different settings with each one having 9 different modes!
    In this video I just get my initials impressions of the system between off and on, and already what a difference!! It turns the "sluggish" Tacoma into something with a lot more throttle response! I can't wait to test this out daily driving and get back to you with those results in a week!!
    Adding the Pedal Commander is a must have modification to the Toyota Tacoma!! I can't believe I didn't do this sooner on the Tacoma! While it doesn't actually add any horsepower or torque, it makes the power more usable since throttle response is now instant vs being super laggy. If you have a Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner or other similar vehicles, I'd highly recommend adding a Pedal Commander! TacomaBeast has them available!

    Cool video and all, but the pedal commander doesn’t actually add any power. It simply changes the linearity of your throttle input, so it gives it more throttle with less push.

    I recommend trying out the Banks Pedal Monster because the Banks Pedal Monster is the only throttle booster that turns off when you put the vehicle in reverse which is A much safer option. It also gets its power from the OBD port so you will never get dead pedal because if it were to ever malfunction it automatically turns off and goes back to stock.

    Pedal Commander is on my upgrade list. Thanks for the video. I’m not a fan of K&N air filters, especially for anything that goes off pavement. My personal experience is that a lot of fine dust flows straight thru them. Yes, performance might be slightly better, but that flow thru dust will take its toll after a while. Is there a difference between the pedal commander and ECT power?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 3 lety +3

      The ECT button from what I have seen is mainly used for towing, it holds the rpm in a higher range so you can use a lower gear at that higher rpm to get up hills and things like that or slight inclines on the highway. The pedal commander controls the throttle input and basically allows you to use less of the pedal with it providing more acceleration. It tricks the system to think you are using more pedal than you are. So those two things are completely different!

      I mean, you can't fault someone for wanting you improve the driving experience of their vehicle, weather it be a Tacoma or a Mustang, most cars/trucks made in the past 15 years suffer from a lazy unresponsive throttle input because that's just the nature of the computer controlled fly by wire systems, installing something like this just improves your day to day drive ability and there's nothing wrong with that, you're not going to set the 1/4 mile on fire with your Tacoma just because you have this no, but it'll be more fun to drive which is what counts for daily drivers.

    I wasn't able to watch the whole video (will later) but from the first 10 minutes Ive seen...why not regear? While you don't have huge tires, you have bigger tires and regearing helps with the sluggish/searching of gears. This just helps with acceleration. This doesn't provide anymore power to the truck. While I don't fault you for wanting better acceleration, eve though its a truck, this doesn't seem to make much sense...

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 4 lety

      In all honesty having the sharper throttle response just makes the truck lighter on its toes and better to drive. I'll be doing some tests off road with it, and I think that will help out a lot with the slow speed crawling. Its annoying to have to floor the gas pedal all the time just to get some response. It doesn't add any power, but it moves the power band lower to make it more usable.

      I'm not really sure, maybe an alarm, but I haven't seen or heard any issues!

      I'm guessing that's the mic for when you use bluetooth in your phone, might not be a good idea to put it there if you want your mic to hear you clearly

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed it's where the automatic temperature sensor is located . if you have a manual temperature control covering it is ok.

    🤣 I was skeptic at first and then took the plunge on my Corolla. What a difference it made!
    Then I decided to put one on my Highlander (2008 sport) and holy spit!
    I can’t even put it on Sport+ cause it will spin out 1st gear. The throttle response is almost too touchy.
    It’s been several months since install, and it NEVER gets old!!
    But, because of that, I find myself spending more time at the gas station 🤣
    Wonder if they make one for the Supra 😳

      Oh wow, I'm sure thats super nice on the Corolla! Supra is fast enough without it lol

      Did pedal commander make your Corolla dust v6 sedans?

    It does nothing for Hp and Tq it just handles throttle response.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 4 lety

      True, but I did notice some quicker times on the acclerations so you have more usable power at lower rpm's.
