To anyone watching this. DON'T DO IT! Some issues with this video include the joint not being soldered, a western union splice would be much better, the red shrink tube being too large, the entire splice not being shrink tubed, but most of all, if you need to replace a plug just go out and buy a replacement plug. They aren't difficult to find. Oh, and one more thing. Stripping stranded wire with a scissors will most likely cut several of the strands leaving you with a weaker wire. There's a reason wire strippers exist.

Thanks for the advice! You’re right about the importance of soldering, using the right splice and shrink tubing, and wire strippers. Buying a replacement plug is often the best solution. Your tips will definitely help others!

And this is why we have such stringent Health & Safety rules in the UK, because they make people MUCH safer. If i ever saw that plug at my place of work it would visually fail a PAT test then it would be cut up and immediately binned. I can only guess this bloke has found my bin and taken the contents home to "fix".

The author doesn't even know how to use duct tape. It is rolled with stretching and finally it is not cut, but stretched until it becomes very thin and breaks. In fact, this can be repaired with Suguru or some similar finger-formable silicone adhesive.

This is dangerous. Throw the cord away and get a new one!
