I agree with your statement about generalizations, that is the core point I’m trying to get across. It doesn’t matter if the generalization is about skin color or their beliefs. If you start thinking you are better than whole groups of people, specific regions, or voters - then you are no different than the monsters under the bed.

@@kevinathans4191 if all morality is relative then yes. All the points I made about judging entire groups or regions of people carry absolutely no meaning (depending on who reads the statements). I Think religion does a great deal of good, but as you said it comes with flaws (because it is run by people) and we don’t place any failsafe in the system like we do for government (I.e. term limits.. but government still sucks).
I have two intellectual points of pushback I would provide on my end. The first is your assessment of religion and it’s lack of tolerance. I believe that would have been a spot on point to make if we were talking about most American religious institutions from 10-15 years ago. Like you mentioned morality is a bit more “flexible” these days because you can pick and choose like a Buffett which part religion you like. I would argue that this ‘pick and choose’ type of Christianity is the reason why institutions have become so tolerant. And I would even go so far as to say it is more acceptable to be gay than it is to be that stereotypical MAGA hat wearing Christian in 2021.
The second topic I differ in opinion on and I wanted to revisit was about carrying prejudice views on southerners. (1) i mainly take issue with the fact that the statement was a generalization, (2) I don’t believe voting patterns are a reliable method to determine whether southern Americans are actually more racist, (3) i can just as easily provide data to illustrate that the north is actually more racist/ prejudice than southern America.. doesn’t mean it’s actually true.
Anyways, I appreciate the intellectual conversation. It’s always good to find others who are willing to both share and listen to different ideas. Here is the link below I mentioned in my third point.

Nothing wrong with not seeing a star wars movie. I've seen them all, and I will say it- I don't think most of them are even very good. Some of them are alright, but that's about it.
However, a lot of the stuff on the SIDE is really good. The animated shows, the Mandalorian, etc....fantastic. Even burr has admitted he genuinely likes Mandalorian.

We in the audience at that time -- 1977 -- were going, "Oh, my God" and rolling our eyes between laughs. It was a lark. No one -- least of all George Lucas -- thought it would become a phenomenon. It was just innocent fun. At that level, you might enjoy it.
From a Star Wars fan I can tell you you're making the right decision in not wanting to watch it. The first two movies that came out in the 70s are good everything after is complete shit or soulless mass marketed drivel after the disney takeover
