      And even worse, we are supposed to buy that all that Vulture said is just a heap of demagogical lies. And yet, I couldnt help myself but to agree with all he said. And of course, it is easily to judge from "moral high" perspective, when you judge a person that had a choice of either becoming criminal outlaw or sentece himself and all he cared for to misserable life as homeless beggars under bridge. Peter should probably go preaching about "It is wrong..." to his beloved Tony Stark, a greedy jerk that cornered and pushed another person to path of crime just to get more income to his already gargantuan heap of wealth. Greed is good, I guess, eh Peter?

      @@mausolus8466 No, what he said was true, but he’s also being a hypocrite. He transcended from a poorer class to one of power, I mean, have you seen his house? And yet, despite criticizing Stark for what he did, he continues along the same path, creating the same potential for destruction.

    • @mausolus8466
      @mausolus8466 Před 3 lety +56

      @@lukesewell8294 There are some distinct differences however 1) Vulture was truly forced into becoming arms dealer (it is easy to preach about morality of "greater good" when welfare of your loved ones isnt at stake) by Stark. Vulture turned from common honest working family man to criminal family men, while Stark turned from grade-A a**hole to slightly less grade-A a**hole 2) motivation. Vultures motivation to turn into arms dealing was to secure his family and protect them from becoming homeless. Stark on the other hand jus wanted a few more numbers on his already gargantuan account. Vulture is a criminal outlaw that deeply cares about those he loves and shows that theres no limit he would go to protect them. Stark is arrogant narcisst full of himself that causes so much harm and colateral damage around himself just for his vanity and ignorance, yet due to his PR team funded by his inherited gargantuan wealth and his connections in goverment, he manages to come out as noble hero. So yes, I have a bias here.

      @@mausolus8466 so what your saying is that iron man saved the world for a paycheck. I completely understand your vulture point, but I don't understand your stark point at all, yes he is narcissistic, but it does not take away from the fact that he is trying to be a hero. For one, he doesn't get paid to save the world at all, all of his money comes from his inventions and tech, that's it, in fact, no superheroes in the mcu get paid at all for their superhero work. Stark has already proved himself a proper hero in endgame when he sacrificed himself to save the universe, yes iron man is heavily flawed, but that's what makes him great.

    I really like the fact that Michael Keaton and Tom Holland play their roles with depth to it, its not just a superhero/villain conversation, they add the age, experience, status and background of every person we watch in this movie, sometimes the heroes are blinded by their own justice, act on what was right but they never knew what the outcome will become, the best example of this is Iron man movie trilogies, and sometimes the villain just had enough to take the path that makes them look bad with a great reason by doing it and when confronted by heroes they cannot go back and continue doing so, even the great Capt America is willing to take the criminal path just for Bucky, im not saying Capt is a villain but atleast Capt have the understanding of where some villains come from and why they're doing it which makes Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr great by portrying their roles like it was them, Iron man is a rich and spoiled kid with everything in plate, unlike Capt A with nothing even a body, 2 different paths that lead the same way and see what the others cannot see, which leads to Civil War, i mean even the small detail Marvel does if you think about it, its what they do with the big details and make it to greater heights which leads them to Thanos, Thanos may be a villain in comics but in MCU, if you think how Thanos thinks, his right, the universe is over populated and the resources are limited, the first thing i think when i heard this line was my country, the goverment cannot feed all its people coz of over population and it makes a solid impact when pandemic hits in global scale, its the dark truth we dont wanna see even though we knew it all along, Marvel is doing a great job at portraying a dark truth behind a Disney friendly movie

He says the rich people only care about themselves, yet he doesn't care about the people who died because of him. A Neutral person does right by them and their immediate concerns - friends, family and what have you - but is largely apathetic to those outside of that circle.
      Very few people are truly altruistic to the extreme or selfish to the extreme. Everyone else has variously different sized "circles" that their attention and care extends to. It could be as small as one other person, as large as a whole nation and more, but it varies from person to person.

    Villain Has a Point: When the government agency "Damage Control" took over Toomes' contract and forced him off the cleanup site, they inflicted financial hardship on him and jeopardized his ability to support his family. Toomes points out to Peter that he's young and doesn't understand that the "rich and powerful, they do whatever they want" and just don't care about "guys like us". He even points out that Tony Stark himself first made his fortune as a weapons manufacturer and ultimately claims that everything he has done has been to secure his family's future. Peter, driven by his high moral standards points that selling weapons to criminals is still wrong and while he doesn't relent in stopping Toomes' plans, it does appear some part of what he said resonated with Peter as reflected in his decision to turn down Stark's offer to join the Avengers and remain someone "to look out for the little guy".

      That is honestly what I think the Nostalgia Critic didn't understand in this movie during his review of it during Disneycember, and I also think that a lot of people completely missed the lesson that was being told in this movie. The Small Things Matter. Small crimes are still crimes, the reason the vulture was able to operate was because he operated under the radar, the avengers get so caught in trying to stop global level threats, they forget the problems that are right in their own backyard *Cough Daredevil universe* also what makes Spider-Man so great wasn't because he wasn't fighting off intergalactic villains, or trying to save the world. He was just going after mugger and criminals who didn't want to destroy the planet, most of them were either just trying to get rich, or become powerful crime figures. Plus what made him relatable in the '60s was that he was a teenager, it wasn't just about the suit and trying to save the day, it was about the school problems, the girl problems. To quote Green Arrow from Justice League Unlimited
      "I don't belong here fighting monsters and supervillains, I just help the little guy, and in a club like this you tend to forget about them."

    Toomes was just a normal man wanting to support his family. His normality is well portrayed throughout the show. Another thing you get from this, in conjunction to the "Dad Talk", is that he genuinely *didn't* want Peter to be his enemy. He knew Pete would be a great boyfriend for his daughter and he admired him. I really get the sense that right until Toomes realized Peter would never give up, he would have spared him. Even in the final battle of the film, Toomes still has a moment when he chooses to spare Peter's life.

    Vulture doesn’t have some God Complex, trying to erase half of all life, starts genocide, or or thinks he would be better at being God. Vulture isn't out for petty revenge, he doesn't even want fame, fortune, or even a legacy for historians to live forever.
    All he wants is enough income so that his family will be alright. He's very thorough to not get any unwarranted attention. He stayed under the radar because he is not some Avengers threat because he doesn’t want to. He does the dirty work and makes the hard choices so that his family sleeps soundly at night.

He's represents the working class that the higher society doesn't care for. He became a criminal to revolt against the high class. Mysterio, on the other hand, was an unstable genius, who believed the world was out to get him. He may have created great technology, but he was dangerous, and he only cared about using his tech for himself as a way of getting him more popular and more attention.

Adrian has time to explain himself to Peter. Yes, he is doing “evil”, but for reasons that he feels are justifiable; and he is only doing it to people he considers to be evil. 0:38 It’s a really nice detail how Adrian ignores everything Peter says at first, until Peter mentions Liz. His priority really is on his family and providing for them, which wouldn’t be a bad thing if he didn’t resort to dealing weapons to accomplish it.

    Am I weird for actually preferring this suit? There's something appealing about how simple it is. It just feels right for the character opposed to the overly technical suit with needless enhancements. It feels like it was designed for Terry McGinnis, not Spider-man.

Normally they're either psychos or megalomaniacs but you completely understand Vulture and even sympathise with him to a point, without them making him soft. Plus Keaton is just such a brilliant actor. It's also well worth seeing him in The Founder.
