- Where the tropical ocean meets the sea, a peculiar kind of plant thrives in shallow, salty water. These mangrove plants are incredibly important for shoreline protection and baby fish habitats. Jonathan investigates life in mangroves by visiting both Caribbean and Pacific mangroves.
JONATHAN BIRD'S BLUE WORLD is an Emmy Award-winning underwater science/adventure program.

Wow. I almost felt sentimentally treated by how you presented such fair reaches of the mangrove trees and par-eco systems.
Thank you.
This explains all of it.. Thanks mr. Jonathan!!!
Mangroves are awesome !!!
i remember watching this in 2012 on my slow desktop laptop wow this is my childhood

@Marino does dumb stuff lol
same, this is my childhood
@Marino the g70 guy I MEANT THE CHANNEL PEOPLE NOT THIS SPECIFIC VIDEO LOL
Very interesting the adaptations of mangrove trees, in particular how they deal with the salinity of the water.
This video is awesome!! When something floats or is stuck in the water, under water its a amazing view!!
This is the first time I’ve seen the vid, thanks for reupload!!!!
This is perhaps one of the best explanations I have ever seen in 23 years ! In my school we used to learn these statements but were never told the reason behind .
Example 1 - Mangroves act as a buffer zone between Ocean and Shore . Why do they act as Buffer Zone was never explained . Today I learnt that the roots hold the shoreline together preventing erosion , thereby attenuating the tides .
Example 2 - They act as a home for Invertebrates . But why ? I got the answer today . The vast mesh of roots protect the small fish and invertebrates from predators . They also provide them the food which is flown out to ocean during receding tide .
Excellent Videography . I would just like Mr. Jonathan Bird to notice this comment of mine and feel good how his videos have been affecting lives of many .
Love from India .

Lol, I just saw your great barrier reef video. I feel stupid... 😂
Need mangrove police I guess because developers don't give a poop about anything other than money. Humans...grrrr. I didn't know about the mangroves and their importance to the land...wow and wow. Thanks, Jonathan!! So very very much...and to your TEAM!
I think only the Red Mangrove has seeds that develop a stem while on the plant. Some other species of mangroves (different genera) grow slightly more inland.
Yes
I went from "AAAAAH, don't lick the leave!" to "He's gonna lick it, isn't he?" to "Ah, yes. He licked it. What an oddball.
Hello Jonathan, I don't know if you remember me, but a couple years ago I told you I wanted to get scuba certified. But, to get to the point... Don't lemon sharks live in mangroves? And you should totally do a video on coral reefs, like the great barrier reef! And, don't listen to the haters, they are just jealous that you're smart and they aren't! 😊😉
In my place mangrove forest is not a place that we dare to go because of the dangerous animal there such as crocodile and snake. You could get attack from nowhere. But today I learn something new and the importance of mangrove plants.
Where do you live??
BlueWorldTV Sarawak (Malaysia part of Borneo)
Soon 200,000! Good luck on your road Jonathan!

Would you know if you can graft Sonneratia Alba onto existing Rootstock?
Wow, that's a very specific question way beyond my level of knowledge!!!
In the intro, there is a excerpt with hundreds of barracudas. What video is that from?
I think sea turtles but I forget!
BlueWorldTV Oh it’s fine if you forgot. I’ve seen the Sea Turtles video about a hundred times because they were my favorite animal for a while (before I discovered how many amazing animals there are in the ocean with this channel and couldn’t decide between the others). I don’t remember if it’s that video or not. Thank though!
healthy biodiversity saves from huricane impact on coastal shore.
Is this spot over the coast of Belize City?
This was shot partially in Mexico around Riviera Maya and in Yap, which is Micronesia (Pacific).

Hi
Can u please tell me what is your divine mask brand? I want to buy it. Thanks!
The one I have been wearing for the last few years is the Oceanic Mini Shadow. But the one I was wearing in this video was a Tusa.
Really awesome channel . Just don't get why it gets less subs
We are growing slowly, but I agree....I do not understand why it is taking so long with the amazingly high quality content we create. I don't know of any other CZcams program that produces content at such a production level.
You can find mud crabs squeezing among the roots on mangroves
Jonathan, do you know about the Machineel Tree? Looks like mangrove and gets into the mix, so I've read. TOUCHING the tree is dangerous, or sitting beneath...definitely eating any part of the tree is pretty much a horrible death. Just FYI?
I'll try to not lick any of those!!
@@BlueWorldTV Exactly the moment I thought of this tree! LOL
In which country its located
Keep trying to find more things
Hi Jonathan, im going to do a presentation on sharks and i was wondering if you have any tips

Do a video of lookin for Megalodon fossils
We just got back from filming a segment on that in the Cooper River, SC. It will be released in December.
Hello Sir, from Philippine, I have also a video featuring the Importance of Mangrove Forest
What sunglasses?
Am I tripping or were those platies and swordtails swimming by the mangroves
Close! They are mollies, if I'm right the sailfin molly. Mollyfish are like elongated platies. Mollies, being part of the same family and livebearing, can crossbreed with platies, swordtails, and in rare cases, guppies and mosquitofish.
2nd i feel sad im not the first :c
Half of my islad is full with magroves
Nahil Nazim woah u have an island
