    Love your videos on the 425 and 500’s. Tried to work on one about 10 years ago and there didn’t seem to be any information online about these, so I am glad to find your channel. Curious if you might could help me on my latest project of restoring an old 95 425 Magnum. 4x4.
    1.) It had an overheating issue a couple year back before I had put it up in the barn for a few years. I had replaced the head gasket because it was losing some fluid, but at the time I didn’t check for flatness of the head and I didn’t know it could have been the water pump. Figured it could probably stand to have the water pump seals and impeller replaced anyways, but curious if you think a pressure test would tell my if my head is warped or should I take it off and measure myself while I have the engine out?
    2.) The valve lash adjustment nuts on the rocker assembly had come off somehow. When I was fixing this I notice that my rocker arms are able to slide along the rocker shaft (port to starboard)a little bit. Is this normal or is something worn? (Exhaust cam is good btw).
    3.) This is an old ATV. Curious if you would recommend replacing the piston and rings (or just rings) while I have the engine out? Compression seemed fair enough for her age last time it was running. If so, which kit would your recommend? They don’t seem to common on a 425.

      Glad you like the channel. I would go with a new piston. I use Namura.

    Can I use a 500 carb engine to swap out with a 500 efi engine. Will the cam sensor bolt on?

    Quick question, can I use a 500 carb engine and swap it with a efi model engine?

    Hey love the videos they have helped me a lot.. But I cant seem to find any videos on how to change a water pump on the 500 ho engines

      Thankyou. I have noticed that too. I was thinking of making a video of a mechanical water pump seal replacement. There is no easy way to do it unless you split the case or cut it out. I've used a wood screw and a drill to pull out the seal behind it. it works well.

      @@TitaniummanGarage thanks for the info.. Also I had was fearing that you had to split the case.

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 3 lety +1

      It can be done without splitting the case. But you have to use a tip snips to cut mechanical water pump out.

    I have found water in gas will cause popping, backfiring at around 1/3 to 1/2 throttle.

    I have a 2001 sportsman 500 HO with an over heating problem. I replaced a bunch of parts and was going to do the water pump today. When I took off the cover I discovered thar the impeller could be turned by hand. I fired it up for a second and the impeller is not turning.

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 2 lety

      I would buy a aluminum impeller. You can get them off ebay.

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 2 lety

      Is the shaft the impeller is on turning?

    • @tomembriani1367
      @tomembriani1367 Před 2 lety

      I can turn the impeller by hand when engine is not running and when the engine is running it won’t turn at all.

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 2 lety

      That's bizarre. I have heard of the impeller stripping out and not spinning like you described. I just wanted to make sure the shaft the impeller sits on spins while running. If so. Replace impeller. If the shaft doesn't spin with the motor running you have a bad oil pump.

    why dont you do videos on how you clean these parts

    • @TitaniummanGarage
      @TitaniummanGarage  Před 3 lety

      I had thought about it. But thought it would be a boring video. I take a gun with a wire wheel on it for the heavy stuff. Spray it with engine cleaner or sometimes soak it in gas if I have old stuff laying around. Then blow it all out with an air gun
