These apps work really well with both iOS and Mac, making it a seamless experience to have all your documents available easily.
Editing photos and videos, you aren't gonna get professional-grade software without putting up a good chunk of money

Glenn the apps that come with you Mac are included. The notes, numbers are full compatible with ms office the keynote is also so so with PowerPoint. Photo does a nice job plus all can get converted native to pdf if needed all with out buying anything. I use it every day and works perfect

What if you've got a Macbook pro, can you get the same results with display and using the the display as a hub (minus charging) from a USB C/Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 1&2 adapter? I know they're pretty new. Star tech just started making a few

Yes it is a feature as long as the mac is plugged in charging it will output only to the seperate display.

Actually you can do it with a windows machine. I use a similar setup as the one in this video, running off an HP laptop. Under Power Options in Control Panel, you can change the setting for what the computer will do when the lid is closed. Change that option to "stay on", and the laptop will continue to run closed.

How do you have the MacBook closed and it's still working and connected to the monitor?
when it is powered the macbook can be closed and used with external display of course you need a keyboard and a mouse cause you have the mac closed.

i have a 2012 macbook pro and connected it to a monitor using a display port to thunderbolt. now i can close it and still use the monitor but the wifi doesn't work unless i open it. HOW CAN I FIX THIS?!?

XaznwarriorsX No way. FCPX gives me a warning when I edit on my iMac, saying it might work slow or something. No way you can get 4K video, smoothly, on 1.1ghz macbook.

Apple's old Thunderbolt Display was $1000 and doesn't even have USB-C or HDMI.
This Acer monitor is a total steal for $500.

The only thing that is holding me back from switching to MacBook 12" as my main and only work machine is the lack of 4K support. I LOVE how crispy is 4K monitor when hooked up to a MacBook Pro and not willing to give that up.

Not a fan of Mac, but I definitely love this video and makes me want to be a Mac laptop owner. It'd make sense for me to become utilize the tools in this video since I am in college and need a laptop for portability, but also necessitate the use of a desktop for productivity.
