My 2000 Ford F350 drw 4wd is really starting to show her age I bought a new Ford F250 crewcab Lariat ultimate I couldn't part with the old girl I kept it as a plow truck the 7.3 powerstroke still runs good the 6.7 powerstroke seems really quiet compared to the 7 .3
I’m gonna swap tailgates now that I’ve seen this, It looks like it came Factory and gives it a nice updated look. Definitely cool that the lines match the height of the brake light lenses. Keep Rockin Nick, I dig your videos!
That "soft opening tailgate" is for when you open it the tailgate isn't as heavy as the one with no soft opening system it ain't actually a soft opening system , that's like a torsion bar
The new tailgate looks really nice. I like it better, without that Prius sticker too. Super Duty F-350’s are big, tough, masculine type trucks. A Prius should not be even remotely associated with this truck in any way!🙂👍🏻
That's just a torsion bar inside to make it easier to lift, not soft drop/open as you found out. You can also swap your key cylinder to the new one (if you still have access to it) or I have the internals to rekey it. Mines quite a bit heavier than my 05 gate was, I have a 15 gate with step and I put a 10-ish handle on it for the camera in the handle. In the newer gates they moved the camera to the gaudy emblem. On mine that torsion bar doesnt seem to really do anything, I've yet to see about messing with it, much more important things to do in daily life than mess with the tailgate spring, at least at this point and time. If/when I see a facebook post on this I'll try and put my tailgate up.
It looks great man and you made me want my own f350 6 speed 4wd dually and I finally bought one sadly mine is a extended cab lol 😂 I’m curious are you going to in the future out on the 11-16 fenders or rock the 99-10 fenders with the 11-16 tailgate and taillights

Yea agree the F150 tailgate didn’t flow with the truck at all, and I can’t believe ford used F150 gate in F250 trucks, well I can’t reuse the sticker need new one hha
That new tailgate looks clean! That's the way to get a newer truck, just add it on one piece at a time. The project really is looking great.

For your hose clamps you should round off the outside and strip the inside so nobody can take it off quickly even with the correct tools
The 1st revision is 08-12, 13-16 has the added body line
Thanks for the great video. A little tip. Pop the tail light out and you can easily spray the back sides of those bracket bolts with penetrating oil.
