Honda CR250 Full Restoration - Part 12 - Its Almost Time!

- Another week and another huge step closer to having the CR250R fully restored and ready to ride.
In todays video its mainly about bolting new and restored parts on the the beautifully painted frame so there really isn't too much to describe unless you want to read through a huge page of how i prepped and fastened all the nuts and bolts.
A brief summary for the video would be the carb and airbox were fitted along with there vent hoses and overflow drains the filter isn't oiled as of yet but i will get to that. The electrics were put into place and tested for continuity, earthing and proper spark timing all of which im happy to say is spot on. The cooling system has been recommissioned too with the water pump being sorted in a previous episode and now it has all now silicone hoses aswell as totally restored and pressure cleaned radiators so the engine should run lovely and cool. Last on the list was the re-packing and fitting of the exhaust with new springs and seals to hopefully there wont be any spooge leakage from the expansion chamber where it meets the cylinder and that about covers it for this episode.
Until next time stay safe,
Enjoy

I tend to view many different motor repair/renovation channels. You have always ranked at the top of the list for me but i have only just realized why that is. You give off a relaxing vibe to all your videos because all we hear is the sound of a rachet click, the silence of a screw driver, the beep of a torque wrench and a cool Scottish accent! Not a noisy power tool in sight! Thanks for uploading, great channel, great content.
Thank you so much, I'm so happy to hear that you enjoy my relaxing style of filming :)
@LilOleMe try Ronald Finger's channel, he's different but i find him very entertaining
Its the accent.
@@RRCRestoration what is your "secret" rust inhibitor?
46 Works might be up your alley @billfear1
This restoration is second to none, I wouldn’t be surprised if Honda heritage got in contact! Because even if they had one it’s probably not as clean 😁😁
You're too kind, I love the idea of getting a message from Honda like that " Could we buy yours ours isn't nice enough " hahaha
@@RRCRestoration 🤷🏼♂️ stranger things have happened, but genuinely I could imagine a Honda bike dealership wanting the 250 just as a talking point!!
It amazes me that so many factory parts are still available for a bike as old as this. It gives me hope for when I restore one myself.
About a 1000% better than factory, what a job you’re making 👍👍👍👍👍👍
you're too kind :)
The CR looks a million dollars, great job on the restoration...
Thanks alot :)
You can put that bike in order in any way you want. It is still pleasurable and educational to watch. Thanks for keeping the videos posted.
Thank you very much :)
Such attention to detail. The gaps between the bar clamps, the overflow / drain pipes cut to the same length and everything correctly torqued up. The high standards that I aim for but rarely achieve.
Thank you so much :)
This is freaking relaxing to watch. So simple and deep in me it feels like watching my dream. This is what i want to do someday to fully restore old bikes.
No music, a relaxed commentary - all very zen. Love it.
So glad the shop coat has become a keeper, has me tearing up with nostalgia here..........Again, excellent excellent video. Thank you!
Wouldn't be without it now ;) lol
I’m a 62 year woman and I absolutely love watching your vids 👍
Im so happy to hear that you enjoy my videos Susan and hope you enjoy the next one too :)
What a treat ❤️
Enjoy ?:)
A real Sunday treat. Thanks for this
Enjoy! :)
Nice work! Food for thought for the future, when torquing with a crowsfoot, you should keep the crowsfoot at 90 degrees for the most accurate application of torque
Nice top tip, I'll be sure to remember that one :)
Agree on both, in this case you extended the arm and there for the amount of torque.
Since I was a child I have coveted this year and model bike. I have never had the opportunity to get my hands on one but seeing you bring this one back to life has really brought me joy. I really appreciate the care and love you are giving this old bike.
Thank you so much, I'm really glad I can share my joy and passion with you by restoring this bike :)
this guy can restore my life
Wow, I just realized you crossed the 1/2 million mark for subs. Congratulations!
Thank you so much, Always a pleasure to hear from you :)
Looking fantastic! I can’t wait to see what she looks like all finished in her plastics. It needs to be put in a glass box when you are done ✅
Same here i cant wait to see the finished product :)
Really could be a museum piece. Nice man.
Thank you! Cheers!
With this style bars I was taught to do them down evenly and opposite each other leaving an even gap front and back . Limiting any possible stress on bolts and castings but then I am old lol 😆. Bike is coming on really nicely 👌
Same here
Awesome video! Thanks so much for having us along!!!!! Beautiful job.
This restoration is looking Wicked. I don't think my Suzuki TS125R will come close to this level of restoration. You're doing a fantastic job.
Thank you so much :)
Sunday morning highlight. Thanks!
Enjoy :)
Wow , dream bike from my childhood, loving this build.
Tired after work and fell asleep right after clicking the video....The vaporblasting was a horrible and terrifying sound to be woken up by xD
Sorry about that i can imagine it would be rather unpleasant :(
@@RRCRestoration I mean, a jump-scare for sure, but it was good that it woke me up, I had stuff to do^^
in all honesty, I don´t want this bike to get dirty
beautiful work, as always
Between this as the 748...your fast filling my dream garage!
The colour-match of wheel and chain does it for my OCD. I love it!
Man that thing is so pristine I would be afraid to get it dirty. You do amazing work! Thanks for sharing, stay safe
Haha I fell the exact same way and tbh it may never get dirty, It'll get started and ridden on concrete but i cant see it hitting the track anytime soon its just too nice and too rare lol
It'll be sold for quite a few quid, probably to sit on display in a 'collectors' dehumidified den.
just remember when you were torquing the bars, put the attachment at a 90 degree angle because straight out like that changes the torque. love the progress man great videos!
Your work and talent are simply mesmerizing.
Thank you so much 😀
Love watching your work, the attention to detail is amazing. That bike is like its just off the production line.
Thank you very much! :)
I'm very happy because this time you have a lot of parts to install and the installation is almost complete~malaysia boy
Seeing everything go back together factory fresh (or even better in some cases) makes me happy. Wish I could afford to ship my 86 Suburban across the world to have you rebuild it :) I haven't touched it in a year.
Same here, It really is very satisfying seeing it all coming together again fingers crossed she starts and runs as well as she looks ;) haha now that certainly would be a BIG project ;)
I must admit, when you started to talk about the exhaust packing in the last video, I was stunned. I never had an inkling that the exhausts were repacked on these. Learn something new every time with you.
Yeah overtime the packing especially in a two stroke gets all gummed up with oil and carbon and cant absorb sound waves effectively anymore and you end up with a horrible sounding and very loud annoying 2 stroke, 4 strokes don't tend to gum up with oil but they do produce more heat so tend to burn and blow out the packing so again you end up with a very loud and annoying bike haha
Thank you for the closed captions! Yank of Scots/Irish descent and I sometimes struggle to understand. Great work as always! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for showing us the progress. Must be cool looking at it (It's so shiny!)
No problems , Yeah i really enjoy just standing back and admiring it :)
You know its gona be a good say when RRC uploads. Love the vids
Enjoy :)
amazing ! I think that you are the best at restorations !
For sure you are my favorite choice...keep at it mate !
Thank you for sharing
Wow, thanks that means so much to me :)
Keep them coming, great videos. The quality of your restorations is excellent. Your very talented.
Thank you very much! :)
So nice to see it coming together again. There is something that is very relaxing and therapeutic about watching your videos. No drama, just attention to detail. 🍺😁👍
Always a pleasure to hear from you my friend, So glad you still approve of my work and filming style :)
This is a work of art, and not only this
Its just a joy to watch your work my friend. 10 out of 10 as usual. That bike will be MINT. I'LL TAKE DELIVERY anytime thankyou when its completed.
Great to follow -iconic bit of machinery.
I love the content because this is my era of MX. Worked on and raced the 86-92 CR's. My favorite thing with the videos beside the bike is your shop. So organized and tidy.
Nice one, Glad you like my videos and workshop :)
it’s always a good day when rrc posts a new video, love from italy man keep it up ❤️
Grazie :)
Hands of a surgeon.
Honda designed the bar clamps to be no gap at the front and any gap is on the back, so rotational forces don't allow the bars to roll back. the Clamps are milled uneven with a step, and that is why they have the punch mark on the front
congratulations! Your work is incredible!! greetings from Argentina.
Thank you so much 😀
Good job as usual!
Hi from Italy 🇮🇹
Grazie :)
Thank you for explaining the angle of the handlebars, I was actually wondering how you'd set that up.
Amazing video as always, thank you!
No problem, glad you enjoyed it :)
I am a little OCD , to show how little, waiting in a parking lot looking a at a brick wall
to see that there all straight same depth cement on each brick
me the handle bars are perfect, keep doing the vary good work you do
thanks
I'd love to work in a place like that when you're on your own, so peaceful 👍 great video as always mate.
Its great I love my quiet little workshop :) Thanks for watching.
Very good, right down to the light switch at the end 👍🇦🇺
Thank you :)
man i cant wait to hear the startup for the first time
Same here :)
You don't have to hope that people will be here to watch your remarkable work. Thats a given. Mate be proud of your work, stay humble & continue the gorgeous work you do and share. It is always good to see what RRC shares, cuz it does inspire some of us to be better :) in whatever we are doing. Thanks
Always nice to hear from you Baba and im so glad to hear you are still enjoying my work :)
@@RRCRestoration Who wouldnt want to miss out on quality stuff mate... Only the stupid would..
Amazing as always!
Loved the way it turned out! ❤
As always, satisfying. Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I’m always amazed at the number of camera angles you dedicate to shots. After you pulled the foam out of the intake, did we need another angle pointed at the floor showing where you put it down? No, we didn’t. Am I glad it was there? You bet!
Great job as always dude 👏
Fantastic, what a great looking bike, top work 👏
the extra camera angles really are looking quality ✌
Amazing job as always congratulations my friend
Incredible! Absolute perfection, which is why I enjoy your videos - well done 💅
Thank you so much!
Looking mint! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Absolutely love watching you work. Bike’s looking amazing
Nice work 👍👍
Looking great. Can’t wait for the next one 👍
Thanks 👍
A new video from Mr. RRCR ... and another fantastic job. First bike in high school was a '78 Husqvarna CR250; would love to see your magic put to one of those.
So satisfying to start taking the masking tape off 🙂
I totally agree!
Best restore on CZcams 🔥❣️
You're too kind :)
Re: handlebar clamps. I always tighten the front first then the back. I think I might have read to to it that way in a Haynes manual many moons ago, I can't think of any advantage to doing it that way now but am happy to blindly follow guidance from anywhere. I wouldn't use a torque wrench either but if I owned a Snap-on torque wrench that may change. I'd probs use it as often as I could.
I've only just found your channel, it's right up my street so I don't know why You Tube algorithms have taken so long to get me here (God help us when AI finally takes over). The attention to detail is fantastic, I constantly sit in judgement and on the odd occasion I think I might have caught you out, you go on to prove me wrong. Thanks
Excellent job, as always.
Thank you :)
love the clean methodical approach to this .. great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Quality job, as always. Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching :)
Love your content !

Wow, thanks! :)
I'm giddy with anticipation.
very clean and detailed work...!!! good job sir 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Good stuff! Love the progress on the bike. Cannot wait to hear it.
You and me both! :)
Very good detailed restoration video. just like your other ones.
it's coming together nicely. Great work!
Thank you :)
Good vid, I hope things are picking up again. Might be an idea to do a short of you fitting a wiper to the blast cabinet to keep the algorithm happy.
Thank you, sadly still weathering the storm at the moment not taking on water as of yet but very close too it, but still hoping things will pick up. Yeah i really need to add a wiper to the cabinet as all the hydrophobic coatings i have tried just dont work lol
What a great progress and quality of work! 👌😉
You're too kind :)
That thing looks like new.
Great job 👍
Thank you very much :)
Magnífico trabajo como siempre. Enhorabuena y gracias
Amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail, a museum quality build! , looking forward to the next series !
