- I made this little video in case someone needed some ideas on how to build and layout tool storage shelves in a cargo trailer, job trailer. Not as fancy as some on youtube, but works fine for me.
Total cost of materials and around $300 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
You are the first person to talk about the flimsy side walls of the trailer. And how to fix that problem. Thank you!
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve referenced this video. He reminds me of a stellar man that I learned Construction from. He even uses a lot of the same terminology. Thank you for the simple, straightforward explanation and well thought out design.
I don’t normally comment on CZcams videos, but this is so practical. I can tell you’re one hell of a tradesman.
Instablaster...
This is a great video thank you for sharing with us! Can definitely see myself using a trailer like this one.
Thanks for the video, I'm just about to shelve my van here in Scotland. Will definitely be using some of your ideas. Loved the great view of the Rockies too, beautiful Zion :)
I ripped 3/4 wide about halfway deep on a 2x4 and placed that on the edge flush with my shelf. Then slipped a 6 inch 3/4 board into the "gap" that I made and it held everything in. I just pulled it out to get whatever I wanted. Great video. I painted my walls white to brighten it up some.
Nice job brother. Simple yet efficient. Thanks for making the video, gave me some stuff to chew on.
Nice video! I'm a handyman and I purchased a Pace trailer and I can tell you that you're spot on about their quality. It's bad. My next trailer will not be a Pace. Nice job on the shelves and walls. I didn't cover my walls with ply like you did but I had a tough time making sure my shelves were anchored properly with that junk wall board they use. I was worried about adding too much weight when I did it but after seeing how yours came out I may do it that way on my next one. Job well done! thanks for sharing
The Burb Billy
Thanks for the nice compliment. (a year ago...sorry about that)
Great Video! Thanks from Texas
Wow this is great work! Id love to see it loaded up
Tks for yours ideas. Beautifull trainer and very functional
Great build and well planned I dig
Very nice workmanship! Very helpful, great ideas!
Good job well thought out. Also taking the time to datto the shelves Into the partitions adds a lot of strength.
Great job! Thank you for the video it gave me a lot of great ideas!!
Just what I needed to see for my production Trailer.
Great job! When you were talking about something to keep the tools from falling out the first thing that came to my mind was cargo nets secured by hooks.
I did like the modularity of some of the "extravagant" ones. I have built a couple job trailers and never had luck making random sized cubbies and having them work to my liking down the road. I always wished they were easy to resize like the Paulk system. More work out of the gate but seems worthy of the effort when I look back at what we did. They were real similar to this build
Sweet!! I was looking for some ideas and what you did is perfect. Thanks a bunch
Nice job :) I'll double my side walls then make router cuts instead of using 2x4 to lay shelf onto.... your idea works thanks!
Thanks for sharing this video. I just bought a new trailer for my painting company and this will help me tremendously!
Nice job. Workmanlike and straightforward methods.
I've been schooled. thank you for sharing, I think I'll be copying your awesome design...
Great project, thanks for posting the video.
Brilliant! Thank You mate - simple done well!
your clip was by far one of the good ones, i got some good ideals for my build out on a 6x10 thanks much
Great trailer. Thanks for sharing.
Good usable ideas! Thanks for the video.
Great video. lots more good ideas.
Nice job! Looks like you put some planning into that!
Great job!! Thanks to share the information
nice simple setup, perfect daily work horse , i get a lil chuckle out of the "elaborate " setups people waste time building
Reminds me of the DirtyJobs guy!
I have the exact same trailer, going to make these shelves the same way. Thanks for the idea! Good work
Good Stuff. Thanx for making the video; very helpful!
Love the simplicity of this trailer. Less is more √.
Thanks for the video - I came to CZcams looking for ideas on how to build the shelves in my trailer and I was not disappointed! Some great ideas - thanks for sharing!
Excellent Video! Nice set up and great layout. I was kinda feeling the same way as you. Some trailer setups I've seen, require you to be a custom cabinet maker. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comments. Hope that helps.
Wonderful stuff man !
Good job on the trailer. I'm going to be working on mines too soon.
Sweet, looks great. Thanx for yhe video.
Thank you for the video, nice job!
Great trailer!
Great job thanks for the ideas
thanks for sharing looks great...
pretty awesome man. i definately am going to get an enclosed trailer and kit it out like that once i have the space to park it at home. need to move to a bigger place.
my toyota hiace van works well but is hopeless for the family. must he great to be able to unhitch all your gear and drive of in a clean non work vehicle.
Really nice work
Thanks for the video and your right, there's not any good ones that are directed to us who needs cost saving ideas.
KACK ! love it - Re-doing my woodshop, great inspiration on this video - Thanks
Thank you for the video buddy is so helpful I'm going to start on mi 5' by 8' trailer right now
Outstanding work. Thanks for the ideas.
I only wish you had given us a better shot of your view, OH MY it looks fantastic toward the mountains. Oh yea, the shelves look great. When we customized the shelving too much it becomes unusable as new tools or new demands on the trailer don't fit. Looks great!
Nice work thanks for the video
I'd say the wood working is better quality than the trailer...And I love the trailer.
I was inspired by your video, thank you
Fine job. Thank you.
Tidy job mate. Fitted a few vans out over the years and I got a new/used Ford Transit ready for kitting out. I'm a Carpenter & Joiner in North Wales. :)
clean and simple. good job :) nice to see that you stole the ward church trailer too ;) haha
Nicely done, simple and effective.. What was your final solution to holding the tools in their cribs? and was there anything you would change now that you've worked with the trailer for the last year?
nice work & layout
very good - I need to stain the floor 1st, would have forgotten that.
Nice work, need to do something similar for a new box van. Thanks for sharing!
Nice job!
I like the simplicity
Great Video thanks for sharing . I bought a brand new 6'x12' Cargo mate yesterday i'm excited to get it set up! definately use a few of your ideas!
Thanks foe making the video
Thanks For the video I got some great ideas from it.
adam montgomery
cool! Glad i could help.
Nice job.
nice work. thanks
Nice idea!
very good video thanks
Very nice!
Nice job I will use some of your ideas
good vid nice job
This is just was i was looking to build. Simple, effective, straight to the point. Really nice design, layout and execution. Thanks for the inspiration! Would be interested to Lomé how it’s working thus far. Any tweaks or modifications since posting this video?
Not really. I'm still using it as designed. As long as you keep things tidy before hitting the road I've never really had too many issues with things falling off the shelves. But, some type of betting or shelf covers would be helpful.
Thanks for the nice response
Nice job 👍
Nice job man I liked 👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Hi..how did you fasten the 1/2 plywood to the walls of the trailer??
Thanks buddy
Very nice build. Do you have enough space in the middle to haul materials? Also space for a large 20 gal air compressor, whats your recommendations?
Thanks for the video, gave me some good ideas!
Nice clean job. Well laid out man. I'm looking and laying one out for hunting & also work such as yourself and this gives me some great ideas. Did you undercoat from the bottom? Another post brought this up as a good thing to do to prevent wood from rotting out. Cheers
great example. lots of smarts here. Still trying to figure out doing some anchors behind the wood in case I need some mega hold o the plywood.
Just what I needed to see for few ideas, good video. thanks
Thank you!
Thank you very much!! I'm setting my up like this exactly!!
nice job ...well done
thank you!!!
How did you attach the 1/2in ply to the frame of the trailer?
Awesome
Nice video.
Great video will use your ideas, thank... Also just wanted to say to people that dislike this video or leave negative comments, what do you get from disliking the video ? Guy just shering his ideas with intend to help people out with ideas... You don't think it's great that just go watch a different video don't have to be a jerk just because you can't build stuff..
Dima Petrovskiy )
Nice
did you connect your support borards to the trailer supports with self tapping screws, if so, what size?
My boss got that exact trailer.
Caution to buyers, the outside screws on all the body panels started working their way out after about a year. And the side door is very droopy.
thanks gave me some great ideas
Great!
Very impressive nice video
Thanks john.
Did you mount toobafours in it?!
Solid
What size is your trailer? By the way Great job!
1) What was that 'c' word you used to attach the 2x4 on the flat in the back?
2) How did you attach the 1/2" ply wood to the sides?
The C word I used was coped. Scribed a 2x4 with a compass tool so the front of the 2x4 followed the contour of the radius trailer wall. The back of the 2x4 was straight to allow a platform to mount the new 1/2" panel for the cord / hose racks.
I used const adh. and 1 1/4" self tapping panel screws form Lowes to mount the new 1/2 CDX side paneling over the 1/4" paneling but fastened through to the trailer frame rails. The entire project was fastened and reinforced with self tapping screws,,(all pre drilled holes throughout) , and const adhesive so it would all stay tight through the years.
Hope all that made sense
