Celtics great Paul Pierce reflects on the life and career of Celtics legend Tommy Heinsohn following his passing at the age of 86. Pierce shares memories of meeting Tommy for the first time, what it meant to both of them when the Celtics won the NBA championship in 2008 and all the 'Tommy Points' Pierce jokingly says he was hoping to 'cash in on' one day.
Heinsohn was synonymous with the Boston Celtics for over sixty years as a player, coach and broadcaster.

I have been watching Tommy and Mike since 1997 when my family moved to Boston. He taught me so much about life and love for the game. Glad I had the chance to meet Tommy and shake his hand. I know Tommy is with his Redhead from Needham and ready to call the next game. Thanks Tommy for the wonderful memories. Tommy points for NBC Sports Boston on helping Celtic Nation cope today and to honor Tommy as the dynamic man that he was.

As someone from Los Angeles, we've been gifted with great broadcasters. My uncle who attended UMass used to tell me about "The Celtics guy Tommy Heinsohn who was the biggest homer", years later I attended UMass and got to listen to Mike and Tommy like they were my home broadcasters. Fun, passionate, iconic, enthusiastic, and more than anything Celtic through and through. I'm so glad i got to experience that, my heart hurts as I've grown to study and look deeper into the Celtics dynasty and its cast of characters. "Take a look at Smaht hereee", what a legend #15 💚

From a Detroiter, I always looked forward to a Pistons vs. Celtics playoff game with Tommy Heinsohn on the broadcast. Just a great personality, and it truly showed how much he loved his Boston Celtics. Tommy will be missed and he will never be forgotten for the contributions he made to the game of basketball. R.I.P. Tommy.

Tommy was just a huge winner and champion as a coach and player...Red and Tommy were the heart and soul of the Celtics so this is a really , really sad day.
Tommy so boisterous obviously was a confident man. But also had warmth. Paul was very confident also and played with an abrasive edge much of the time, but I agree with him he was a hell of a basketball player and he had range. Other then maybe two years where Wade went off, I’d take Paul on my team. His range and clutch ability being key. Shame they couldn’t have won at least two, but one is better then none. Nice that youth and age could bridge the gap so well beyond respect to true friendship.Tommy you were entertaining and funny and honest. RIP

R.I.P. Tommy. The Nuns in Union City N.J. taught Tommy painting. He was a charismatic figure for the Celtics for over 5 decades.
