How To Open a Lamp Socket

To open and remove the metal socket from a lamp, pry the socket shell (top) from the socket cap (bottom).

😄 "Here let me show you how I did it, with my hand in the way". Even though the "Leviton Made in USA 250W. 250V. Lamp Holder" appears to be strongly crimped together and difficult to disassemble, indeed a thin screwdriver or other pry tool slipped between the two halves allows them to be easily pried apart.
