Been watching harris since his drive days and I can positively say, grumpy Harris is super honest and enjoyable lol!
Same….glad he’s done so well and still himself!✌️❤️🤘
Same, been watching him pre top gear, absolutely legend. True petrol head. However his chiropractor bills are huge, due to him carrying top gear for the past few seasons
I genuinely think he's the best motoring journalist we've got
@@rickiliffe7781 Him with the original evo gang: Metcalfe, Sutcliffe, catchpole, bovington etc.
Chris Harris on Cars is some of the finest automotive content on CZcams
It’s good to see Chris taking time out from his other job as a painter and decorator.
Initially, I thought he forgot to put on trousers, then I realized that, as you say, he's wearing his painting shorts.
Hahahaha love it
LOLOL 🤣🤣🤣
As always zero shits given LOL
And fashion icon
I find it very nice to hear such an honest review. He doesnt like SUVs and he stays true to that. he doesnt change his opinion so he can have more test cars.
Unlike almost every automotive journalist, most of whom used to complain about autos and SUVs and driver aids but now at least pretend to like them. Mat Watson of Car Wow is the most egregious to me
@@chrisogrady28 Chris Harris is just miles ahead of those people both in term of knowledge and content imo. Watson doesn't really know anything about cars and all his content is launching automatics with laugh control in straight lines and mispronounce Porsche. Harris and Cammisa make the best mainstream content
@@loupcordeille-bougault3474 Camissa best content by far imo, partly judt because Anthony Espotito is a genius. My biggest probelm with Watson, as I tried to say, is that he used to talk about hating SUVs and automatics but in recent videos he says things just to apoeal to the masses like "you want the auto really, who wants to be messing with a manual these days", and "the bigger body really is more practical and gives a ton more space" (paraphrasing)
@@chrisogrady28 Don't remember these times, only the recent content, and yeah it sucks. And he doesn't really add anything interesting to his reviews, I just feel like he just doesn't have anything interesting to say except spitting irrelevant numbers. + low production value compared to some others
@@chrisogrady28 Mat Watson is a bottom, and his deeply unfunny willy jokes have fast become tiresome. Plus he thinks drag races are actually real races, so yeah... bollocks to him.
As ridiculous as it is, I’m absolutely stunned by its lack of body roll, even in a full drift!!
It is nuts, I agree. And plain silly.
Most popular yt car channels are about drag or drift....the features most obsolete on public roads.
@@naszadynastia you don't buy high performance type of vehicles if you cannot brag about it being able to drift or do a drag under 12 seconds, although you still never do that yourself. Isn't that how most of the car people are these days?

@@timothysmart8528 I get your point and I totally agree with you when it comes to top gear .

I hold a special place for Chris harris. His honesty and knowledge about cars simply astounds me. 2 of my favourite videos of his, are talking with jonny Smith on the late brake show. Really gives you an insight into his past and present life. I've watched it so many times!
So do I. I weirdly see him as the mainstream voice for real die hard petrol heads. He has managed to keep the top gear job whilst still being an advocate for NA engines, manual gearboxes etc. It would have been easy to soften about all that stuff for his job.
Finally, a car enthusiast who also opposes the SUV trend!
He really doesn't, otherwise he'd have turned down the review.

We're overdue a Collecting Cars podcast with Chris Harris and Henry Catchpole! Please!!!
They did do a Panamera. It was the Rapide. Gorgeous. I wonder how they did sales wise.
Terrible. People barely remembered it existed like Harris which is a shame.
The difference between those is that some humans can fit in the back of the panamera while the Rapide has two additional and useless doors.
Not very good. Aston's as a whole struggle with residuals, build quality and reliability. Think back to the Vanquish and what a problem child of a car that was. Achingly beautiful, yet dogged by problem after problem after problem.
Saw a Rapide on the road two days ago in New Jersey (USA). Totally forgot about it. Had AMR badge. Looked cool, but weird. Had to research what it was.
I’ve got a Rapide S. it’s a brilliant car. Easily fits my kids in the back and luggage. Then goes like stink.
It's really weird to see that mammoth turning that hard, and no chassi roll, pretty big loads on the anti rollbar mechanics !
"Do you think it's good looking? I don't."

Fantastic to see the real Mr Harris at work again, I have missed this a lot from CZcams …
Looking forward Harris’s review on purosangue😅

“What does that look like?!”
Well Chris, it looks ridiculous. Ungainly and awkward. As impressive as it is.
It will be perfectly at home gathering dust in the parking lot of Dubai's airport though
Super video by Chris Harris, as always!
For anyone complaining about an SUV I say come to Canada and experience a Canadian winter where all-wheel drive is a necessity on some mornings as the snow ploughs have not gone through yet and undercarriage clearance is a blessing with vehicles dropping blocks of packed snow and ice out of the wheel wells everywhere on the road.
Has anyone else noticed the panel gaps? I can see light through them on the front bumper to wheel arch at the right angle
Quite remarkable..enjoy 😀
“Made by chaps”
I was just about to comment on the gaps between the front bumper and wings. It's not even just the size of the gap; the angle looks "off" too.
Oo'er can't wait till you do the Ferrari Purosangue non SUV thingy 😁
Great vid. Classic Chris Harris.
Great review!
Love a good Chris Harris review - the car looks like it drives well, but boy is it hard to look at.
Would love to see him test, or at least go through the quick hitter segment like we used to get on Top Gear, comparing this alongside an Urus, Cayenne, and the new not-thoroughbred Ferrari.
First high car I drove was my dad's 1980s Renault Espace. I like looking over other cars. But with so many SUVs on the road, I doubt that's still a thing. Looking over the guardrail helps against car sickness, though.
My peeve with SUVs is that they are cramped inside. Rarely match the boot space of a wagon, and if so, only due to greater height, not boot length. And why does a 10-20 cm taller car add SO MUCH weight over a liftback or small wagon?
Crv, Tiguan, rav 4, sportage and Tucson p- new versions, are bigger and more spacious than a A4/6 avant, v60 and other equivalents for example yet they’re lighter and have a more commanding view of the road and are similar prices par top spec t8 and rs versions. Plus many wagons are German and they are built well but are expensive to maintain and unreliable compared to suvs from Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Kia and also Hyundai. But if you compare the German suvs to their estates you have more value in an suv comparatively and I think people like the raised height of the suv as you feel safer and more commanding (in a sense of sitting higher). The downside I would say is that mpg of an suv is worse due to its size but I get there appeal over estates. Fast estates are cool but expensive, where as normal estates look bland and a little ‘old manny’.
I respect MPV's and other practical family cars but I ain't got time for SUV's , especially very high end ones.
A hundred? Most german estates in the 5-/E-/A6 category push over two tonnes now.
The thing about safety is... How many of these SUVs have better crash results than safe sedans, and how many don't flip over very easily compared to sedans? In the "moose test" they're basically all garbage except for some newer EVs. I think the feeling of safety isn't really based in reality.
@@user-nr7yp2sl3l Interesting points!
What I really want is a modern Mercedes R-Class. Imagine it not built in the US, with a modern PHEV (mostly for noise, I know tehy don't really save the planet or wallet) and slightly more butch looks. Some pimped R's look pretty dope. No need for fake off-road capabilities. Supposed the R drives really well, just thirsty.
R's are not known for reliability (Made in USA) sadly, else I'd be even more tempted to get the latest one I can find and have it pimped a bit. Chrome delete, grill, that sort of thing.
Awesome review. Chris Harris is the best!
Amazing stability through the twisties
it's all about the image. None of these cars will see the track, but people will be bragging to their neighbours about their expensive leased car
You don't understand the point. They are comfortable and practical vehicles for daily driving and are also fast. It is far more poser to get a traditional supercar.
@6:12 That's exactly what the guys who mugged my friend said. 🙄🤣
Chris, you just made me laugh my friggin’ ass off, lol. Seriously. 🤣🤣🤣 The genuine look of bewilderment on your face when you did the transition and then drifted back out was absolutely priceless. Look at them panel gaps on the front bumper / wing🤯
Oh dear..enjoy
Ow god now I cant stop looking at them! Awful
its all i could see from the start
How a company that makes such beautiful cars managed to create something this awkward looking is a bit of a tragedy.
Idk where all this SUV hatred coming from but yall in the minority.
Because they are fecking ugly and huge when they do not need to be. If your a farmer and need to go through fields, the. By all means get a land rover as they are the only good off road SUVs. But if your not a farmer, why do you need such a ugly heavy tank to drive. Mainly the women who think it is a status symbol when really lots of people just laugh at all the sheep that by the range rovers.
@@mohammedattal8887 because they are utterly pointless cars that don’t do anything better than any other type of car.
@@sx200n1 because they are spacious but still sporty and you are high up which means better suspension on bumpy roads
@@mohammedattal8887 Because most of the people who buy them are never going to use them in any way that makes them better than a sedan. A person who buys a DBX isn't going to take it off road. They're going to be driving up and down the smooth pavement of Beverly Hills on their way to buy some more jewelry. SUV's are just uglier than sedans and shooting brakes. Now, if you're the sort of person (like a farmer) who lives up a bumpy dirt road but would still like the performance and luxury of a DB11 or DBS Superleggera, then the DBX makes sense. But for the rest of us petrolheads, they're almost always pointless.

I am with you Chris; I don’t like SUV’s either. And every ‘serious’ car manufacturer makes one. Even Ferrari have turned to the dark side. And this purosangue will fly of the shelves, because it is a Ferrari. I am curious what you will think of that when reviewing it.
At least is keeping great car companies alive and still making real sports cars .
@@greyguy.960 That is true.
I abhor the industries shoving the market into SUV's. I have and will do my best to remain in the sports sedan field, as long as I can. With that said, I live in Miami and flooding is a very real and regular issue. I might be forced into an SUV simply as a matter of "survival" This machine is well out of my price range and, despite it's impressive power and driving dynamics, I would find it hard to part with as much as these are commanding when it is carrying last gen Merc cabin ware/tech etc. Partnering with Merc might provide credibility but whether it's Merc or BMW, they are always going to be hyper tight fisted about keeping the current gen tech to themselves. With all of the options out there, in this class, I am not sure if the Aston badge is enough for anyone to overlook what is considered vintage in the lighting fast tech evolution. Tech might drive many crazy but old tech is even worse. As always, hats off Chris.
Good thing they upgraded the brakes on this one. I recall Callum Ilott running VIPs around the Miami F1 circuit in a more 'normal' DBX and having to back off quite a bit during the latter half of the lap, as the brakes were getting too hot and giving up.
We would love a comparison between the 707 and what it is essentially based on, The GLE 63S! Thank you Chris Harris! I am also totally with you on wishing there was a new Rapide instead of a SUV from Aston!
He might not like SUV's but the market sure does.
As in most things, the Americans needed to share their excess weight and size.
And has a g wagon

Performance SUVs allow people in cities with bad roads the chance to enjoy fast cars. For that reason alone, I think it's important that you review them. To use the restaurant analogy, it's like reviewing a gluten-free or vegan restaurant. Yeah it sucks for a beefeater but think of all the people it helps.
Buying an SUV to drive fast in a city? Did I read that right?! Maybe you aren't UK, but our cities are congested to the point you can't a bike down most roads, and even if you could you be caught on speed camera about 30 seconds later.
😂😂 You don’t need an SUV to deal with bad roads - that’s a ridiculous thing to say. Our road has grass growing on it, huge pot holes and is often covered in mud, but we own normal cars.
@@RobManser77 I invite you to come visit the third world someday. Our potholes are roomier than our accomodations sometimes.
@@meady200 Yeah I guess fast SUVs don't make sense in the UK. Your streets look scarily narrow even in the countryside.

@@nickcook7408 That bus is a Porsche and does not feel like a bus and pretty much has set a nurbugring record time ;)
it’s quite simple- when you need an Suv but you also want it to be quicker than most cars, I mean quicker than 99%+ of the what is around you even through corners, plus a nice sound as a bonus.
I also have one as a family car, it’s a bit sporty but nowhere near this, and it’s still faster through corners than a normal fwd saloon.

Very clever video for the UK ,just had to remind other manufacturers who just released their craft that they got completely competitive cab
Very smart
This is the exception, not the rule. The rule is a boring Audi Q7, high heels, 3.0 diesel is slow, unresponsive, heavy and simply unnecessary. Not to mention all the others being similar or even worse.
Yes, there is Stelvio that drives well and few others, but still a boring majority.

Absolutely seamless..!
I absolutely @#$%in DETEST SUVs! Whenever I see these cars reviewed I just always think how much better the car would be as a normal saloon/coupe/estate. They often have really impressive, powerful, torquey engines completely wasted in a big, fat, lardy boxy body with the aerodynamics of a brick wall. I understand the way it used to be. Back then Range Rovers were the only decent choice and they were used by well off farmers that truly needed its off road capabilities yet also needed it to be a semi luxury car for their trips into town/the city or to look acceptable when turning up to a business meeting or chat with your bank manager. Then it changed into a Chelsea tractor for spoilt, pampered wives to drop off spoilt, pampered children to their hugely expensive private schools. I think it became so beloved by women as it finally gave them the chance to physically look down upon male drivers. I think SUV drivers also believe that their cars are invulnerable to crash damage (in certain cases true) yet conversely they are also far, far more likely to roll.
Nowadays it seems that literally every one has one! They are such a waste of materials in construction, fuel in running and money in parts and labour to fix. They NEVER even get even the faintest whiff of offroad action. The government should just increase the tax on all of these bloody awful SUVs to £50,000 a year and kill then all off once and for all!
I'll take this over Cayenne GT, Urus Performante and Bentley B...
And it'll definitely walk away from them ☺️
from cayenne gt, I doubt it...
The Turbo GT is another level
Faster than a Cayman gt4 and a 458

Doesn’t Chris have a G Wagon 🤔☺️
Well, G-Wagen was intended to be an offroader, not an SUV. The fact that most of them are sold to glamorous Russian gangsta wannabees to be cruised around the city is a side effect.
So cool to see you at Llandow as a local of llantwit 👌😂
Hate suvs as well but I compromised with my wife and got an Alfa Romeo Stelvio quadrifoglio and it does feel like a car in most of its dynamics. Very happy

I dont think he values other peoples opinions - or needs - particularly highly. His opinions are not worth much because they are all about HIM. I like reviewers that understand that various cars are made for various people and shorties like him will fit in cars that others wont.
