If you get motion sickness, try watching in windowed mode. If I sound different, it's because I'm using the Index's built-in mic.

    Fun fact: There is a ghost in the overgrown asylum map! The sound you've heard is her despawning I believe, as you can't get too close to her. She stares at you down from the top floor when you spawn in, it's really hard to see her, but she is there, and if you free your camera you can get a good look without her going away.

    I have an Index, the best way I can describe playing most lower-fidelity VR games is that it DOES look real like you're really there, but it looks like the entire world is made of papercraft because of the simple geometry with textures painted on. So especially Garry's Mod levels which tend to run on potatoes can look a bit angular and papercrafty. Harsh razor sharp 90 degree angles stand out as more unrealistic than usual. I'm a developer and make VR games and I find I have to bevel pretty much everything.
    Of course, games with high visual fidelity built for VR like Alyx are a totally different ball game. You walk into rooms in Alyx and feel like you're in a 100% real room.
    Quick tip, drum your fingers along the Index controller any time you feel like the finger detection is off. Drumming multiple times on the controller makes it attempt to recalibrate.

    • @StCost
      @StCost Před 3 lety +7

      Blackbrook Asylum is the first map, just a note: There is actually a ghost in this map, not a jumpscare and you can't really see her if you don't look really carefully. I won't spoil it if you wanna look for her, but I'd just leave a hint: She's gone once you get too close, and leaves a sound cue that actually can be heard in this video.

    I remember the first map scaring me so much when i was younger, I use to spawn creepy NPCS that would ''map themselves'' onto me and constantly know where i was at all times. Creepy map, but it's cool to come back to it! Keep up the great work

    30:20 You missed a freaky jumpscare with the doll. If you interact with it, it will let out a loud high pitched scream, then if you shoot it, it will make another similar sound and turn into a pool of blood on the ground replacing the couch and then a skull missing its jaw will appear on the storage rack. I thought the map was semi-normal apart from the dark figure (which you also missed while your attention was focused on what seemed to be a figure, but was just a roof vent) on the roof so this caught me so off guard and scared the shit outta me. Realised how haunted the place really is. 0_o

    i love how immersed you feel as if i'm watching a haunted buildings expedition but this time around it's not just a haunted house, it's a haunted factory in the middle of the baltic sea or something this is soo interesting!! i once tried vr and although i could only play a few of the early vr games and my eyes started watering too quick because of the dirtiness of the headset i still really really want to experience that feeling again, but i know it's not gonna be soon

    Idk if you figured it out already. But the crowbar, you just gotta hover it over something, then press the trigger. There's no physics attached to it yet.
    Oh and for that load in thing, it happens in Phasmophobia too. And Everytime we feel something load in, or the games frames drop just a tic, we all report it over radio.

    To be honest, about the doors, which open and which not. I just go by a rule, if it's got a handle it opens (still can be locked though) if it doesn't have a handle it doesn't open most of the time.

    • @kabardino1337
      @kabardino1337 Před 3 lety +4

      Well said, "most of the time".
      There are functional source doors that can be spawned locked, you van interact with the handle, it'll move but wont open.

    Even just watching it as a 2D, normal video, it's so immersive... because of the hand movements, camera movements. Games usually have the weapons, tools, etc. fixed to the camera which is functional and nice, but watching that and watching this... such a very different experience.

    You have to hold trigger to use the default crowbar. You can think of it as a ranged hitscan gun with a very low range, because that is what it is. If you search the workshop, you can also find entries for VR Crowbars, which enable you to use it just by swinging it.

    Yeah stuff loading in gmod is a thing all source engine things do, it could either be a custom sound, texture, or objects, usually its objects, because it takes more space, for some reason gmod doesn't have suport for pre-cache for addons, which would help the loading problem.

    The entire gm_gleb exploration segment gave me Resident Evil/Doom 3 vibes. The way you got so immersed in it while doing it was awesome. Your slow movements and commentary really made the whole thing very immersive and spooky. I'd love to see more videos like this one. By the way, is your player model Alan Wake? It seemed like him when you looked at yourself in the mirror.

    the Best way to play Gmod in VR is to get the VR version's of all the base weapon's which is easy to find I think all you have to look up in the weapon's section of the workshop is VR and I think you can find them they let you actually reload with your own hand's instead of automatically also melee also works cause of the special VR version of the Crowbar where you actually swing to hit thing's they are basically the most important mod's to use with the VR mod also amazing video
