Yeah the map has multiple spawns mainly in the room by the additions board and you happened to get the one spawn point by itself near the jumpscare

"Growing" was a social project turned into a map.
People could ask the creator of the map to add something to the map in the comments, and they'd do so, constantly updating it (or growing it.) until the event time is over.
I found it when it was still new on the workshop.

This reminds me of a stick figure animation community project from way back then before Hyun's Dojo even existed. The idea is that a character will go through a series of interconnected rooms each animated by a different person. It was interesting to see how the difference on an artist's take on something can provide something new to the main idea.
Oh yeah the Doors collab! Man those stick figure animations made me want to animate. Forget Warrior cat AMVs, Nahzuls license to death was the shit

This map was great. And you know what's amazing? Librarian never found the source of those explosions, and never went down the dark hallway at the beginning. There's more map.

Growing Map is, from what I remember when it first appeared on the workshop, a map created by one person, who ported other people's rooms into it. Basically: it's a map collaboration, but people created their own rooms and stuck them together.

It was actually just the map creator adding ideas that were posted in the steam page comment section. It did not last long but there are countless Easter eggs in it.

As soon as he walked into the pitch black room at the very beginning of the video I got a mint mobile ad where Ryan Reynolds appears in a pitch black room with only a flashlight illuminating his face.
Truly the scariest part of the video so far.
If you freaked out that badly over kleiners lab alone, you should try playing some other HL2 maps in gmod VR. They work perfectly aside from the vehicle levels.

The room at 19:37 is my suggestion for the map. What’s happening is Barney gives you the beer he owes you but if you take it, he’ll disappear with the beer as in like he steals the beer you deserved.

This was a great video to watch, got a few laughs from it especially the part where you were talking about liminal spaces then just immediately cut-off by the sight of the obama prop.

I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't a single garden gnome anywhere given the mix of creepy labyrinths and random yet humorous situations like the infinite Combine vs Zombie fight . Unless ofc you may have missed a special trigger or easter egg of some kind that reveals one looming over the skybox as the final hours theme from Majoras Masks starts playing and it slowly descends onto the map (Not that anything very specific like that is there at all).
Oh and I also see a black eyed baby on the texture of the miniature gm_flatgrass model.

I found this CZcams channel after trying to search for “The librarian ghost” from ghostbusters. I think this is my new favorite CZcams channel, and I found it by accident lol. It is so refreshing to have a CZcamsr to watch who keeps it calm and quiet. It seems like every single CZcamsr nowadays screams into the camera, has sponsors everywhere, flashy screen pop ups. You keep it super chill, I like that. Definitely gonna be watching every new video when they come out. This channel really brings me back to how videos were back in the early years of CZcams.

Plot twist: You only explored a tenth of the map
Somehow watching these videos is more immersive than actually playing those maps/games. The presence of someone who's constantly giving insightful thoughts on what we're both seeing helps me pay more attention, I think. I barely notice that almost an hour has gone by.

I'm so glad to see Librarian having fun killing a platoon of Combine and dying over and over, just enjoying himself in the weirdest set of maps ever to exist in Gmod, such a pleasant change from his usually so descriptive and sad state and almost visible rage (Vivo) and jumpiness.
I get a LOT of doom vibes from this map, from a smidge of the beginning of E1M1 at around 7:30, to alot of the more lighthearted terry traps that the game had to offer... Though the level has horror elements to it,

When seeing the name of this map I thought of so many other maps with this similar concept, but one in particular was astoundingly cool, a map that would randomly generate itself! I forgot the name but examples like this, are present! And I thought that it could work! not for VR due to the random value, but still possible

I played this map last year, and I nocliped.
It's randomly generated. Or at the very least, it was when I played it.
The rooms are in a random order.
Oh, and I know that you missed some stuff. There were at least a few things I remember finding that you didn't.
Let's just say that there's entrances and exits other than doors...

you should try gm_boreal, it’s a really big map with alot of detail, just don’t stop in the vents
this feels like the kind of weird map that id make in a rainy saturday
Room times:
Simple walkways with features, (30 seconds or more)
Rooms with ambience/moving parts, (1-2 minutes)
Corridor access points, (2-3 minutes)
Main rooms I.E, beginning, (4-5 minutes)
Something about watching VR exploration is so appealing to me compared to real exploration. You never know what to expect in a virtual environment. One minute you could be walking calmly down the road and the next thing you know you're teleported to the 7th level of hell.
Love the agency between the atmosphere and scripts with the enviroment and charecters. Connects with the gameplay situations and personifications.
I remember suggesting a room for this map. It didn't get in, but I still love the map.
this was the craziest one yet! this is definitely one of my favorite episodes now, seeing how quickly it could go to funny and wacky to genuinely terrifying worked so well with your commentary
Here’s something you could do, you can explode the cross in the church room in the sewers, a surprise will happen, and also jump through the missing texture sign

Your videos are amazing dude. Vr gives gmod such an... uncanny realistic vibe. Still, it's super cool to watch you explore (I used to dream of exploring my favourite games myself when I was a kid and this brings back memories).

I think this map uses multiple different forms of scares. Flat out cheap jumpscares, and random events that could be considered jumpscares, but werent meant to be, ambient creepiness, and other things.

I think that if you pick up all of the cactus in each room. That is also an Ester Egg. 13:49 The Kids Playground you could have checked in VR by trying to grab the Monkey Bars or the Swing or the Slide. 18:06 You could have tried to swim in the pool. 20:13 The locked door where the random dancing guy is in the hallway. You could have used No Clip Cheat to see what is locked inside. 20:26 The Room that looked like an Infinite hallway, maybe doesn’t go forever. 23.25 the baby doll on the floor you could have picked up. 24:15 The Room full of boxes/crates has doors in front of the door that you opened and on the left and right side. 25:22, the room with the Zombie Legs has maybe 4 hidden doors. 29:13 The 7 GMen Room! T-Post You could have tried to touch any of them to see if they would talk or move. 30:14 The Armory Room with the H.E.V. Suit. You didn’t walk close to the walls with the weapons on it. 34:58 Doctor Kleiner’s Lab. Behind The Teleporter there was 2 Double Doors that you didn’t try to check out. 37:09 Outside. You could have tried to walk on water. Which was your favorite room?

You should do the backrooms horror map, it has levels 0-6 and a reference to another liminal space you've seen.

Finding this VR exploration series inspired me to go ahead and try out VRmod as well. It really surprised me with how easy it was to get working, and I haven't experienced any real technical issues from it. The only complaint I really have is that going up and down stairs makes me violently ill, and I have to close my eyes until I get to the top or bottom of them. I wish there was an option to smooth them, so they act more like a ramp, rather than bumping me up and down with every step.
Also, there's a mod that adds some vr hands-on functionality to the Half Life 2 pistol and SMG. It's called "Catse' VR Guns", by, you guessed it, Catse. You can reload it by hand, cock it, that kind of stuff. The only issue I have with it is that it makes opening doors with the left hand a bit of a faff because you don't have to reach for your belt to grab a mag. You just kind of press the trigger and it appears in your off hand. I'm using a Quest 2, though, so it might be different for you. I know the patented Safety Glock is nice, and comforting, but there's something to be said for the immersion of having to reload it the "proper" way. And I know you're all about immersion.
