@ExitScreaming…well, we know that for the lie that it is because if she truly knew or cared anything for such a historic dress, she could have just worn the dress she had made as a replica of Marilyn’s dress and bragged about being “inspired” by Marilyn’s iconic look. Instead she tried stuffing her fat ass into a dress that did not fit her and now the dress is completely ruined. The material that the dress is made of would have been very fragile just from its age. The dress should have never been loaned out for one of the Kartrashians to wear but we live in a day and age where having enough money can buy you almost anything and class and morals are quickly disappearing.

By your comment, I must gather that Monroe wasn't--by your insane standards-- a "real woman"? Then what WAS she? People like you express little interest in or awareness of American history--except when it suits you--so buzz off, little bottlefly. You clearly also know nothing of American iconography, Warhol, pop art in general, or anything else about art, for that matter. Sad. I really hit a nerve, REAL WOMAN. I used to work for a heritage foundation. A 20th century dress was donated to us and we passed it on to our heritage superintendency where it was cleaned and restored. Some years later the daughter in law of the person who donated it asked the superintendency to borrow the dress for a special party and the superintendency very politely refused. They asked the lady to go to see the dress and they explained how it was restored and how fragile it was. The lady understood and agreed that it should not be worn again. The dress was nowhere as expensive or iconic as the Marilyn one but the superintendency stuck to its guns as history should be preserved as best as possible.

I was fortunate enough to actually see this dress before its 1999 auction in New York City. It was sold by "anonymous telephone bid" for $1.5 million dollars. Marilyn paid $12,000 to have it custom made in 1962. No photographs could do it justice. It's basically panty hose material covered in crystals, not rhinestones. And she wore no undergarments beneath it! But, at nearly $5 million dollars, it is definitely NOT the most expensive dress ever auctioned. That honor also goes to a Marilyn Monroe costume...the $45 white halter dress that flutters up over the subway grate in 1954's "The Seven Year Itch", then purchased by Debbie Reynolds for her defunct Las Vegas "Hollywood Museum", sold for a whopping $6.5 million dollars!!! That technically almost got poor Debbie out of her $7 million dollar debt brought on by 3 money-grubbing husbands...

Oh good grief. The Marilyn dress ordeal just made my stomach turn. Ugh. I had no clue this even happened. So gross. I don't even wanna write her name. She's a perfect example of a celebrity versus an actual STAR! Days of REAL stars, true icons of talent are long gone. I'm a little stunned. I cannot believe this actually happened. In my humble opinion, if this, ehem, K truly appreciated this dress/history, she'd never risk damage to it. Neither would those in charge of making the decision to loan it out to this person... *steps off soapbox, exits stage left*

Marilyn Monroe’s derrière measurement was 34 inches. Depending on the source, Kim Kardashian's derrière measurement was 42 or 43 inches at the time she wore the dress. The eight or 9 inch difference would certainly cause damage. The fabric used for this dress is called soufflé, a woven silk from France. And yes, it is as delicate as the soufflé that is eaten.

When I saw the pics of KK at the gala, I didn't realize that she was wearing the EXACT dress that Monroe wore. SMH. Not the best idea. Delicate fabrics do not always age well. As we move, we stretch the fabric of our clothes, and no matter how restrained one tries to be, vintage dresses can give way at the seams and zipper areas. The value of the dress was not in the materials, but in the historicity; who wore it and when. That Monroe was the last to wear the iconic dress greatly contributed to its value, which is now reduced due to the alterations and another wearer, who may not be quite as iconic - even though some may disagree on that opinion.

She wore that dress to say. "I'm Kim Kardashian and I can disrespect a legend and her dress". I have something else I'd like to say about her wearing this dress, but I respect Jordan and his channel too much to write it down here. I love the blue dress. So simple but so pretty at the same time. Thank you for showing us around the museum. I enjoyed it. Stay safe and take care.

Thank You for doing this video. This dress is such a part of Marilyn and her time with us. She gave us so much, the memories are to be treasured and cared for.

What a great vlog...AGAIN! What a shame anyone would allow that dressed to be used like that. Thanks Jordan for sharing!

Anyone who agreed to let this jumped up nobody wear this important, iconic piece of history, should be jailed for criminal damage!!!

Definitely is sickening that they let that harlet ruin Marilyn's Dress. That would be like letting one the Tribute artists wear Elvis' Gold Lamet suit to perform in. And I also agree that for me Christopher Reeve will always be Superman. Being born in 1979 I grew up through the 80s watching those movies in awe of him as a kid. And to this day Superman is my favorite superhero.
