    I recently got back from an extended vacation to visit family, which was much needed and quite hectic at the same time. The channel had more folks out at once than normal for various reasons, but we are finally back up and running. Lots of videos recorded already and many more planned to come.
    Kicking off the return of normal weekly videos is a full review for the recently released Arcade1up Infinity Game Table. This is a family room device that offers a 32" screen and ships with 36 available games at the time of this recording. BestBuy currently and costs around $1000. There is a smaller 24" model that cuts the price down to $850. Check out our unboxing and review to see if this is worth the price or not.

    I bought it for the family for Christmas. My kids are grown but I see it as a way for us to hang out. I did open it and did the downloads. I was very impressed with the game quality and build quality. I even played a game of sudoku. There was just something really nice about it even though I have sudoku on my 12.9 inch iPad Pro. In this fast paced world I see it as a chance for us to interact with each other more than say watching TV. Can’t wait for Christmas Day. Really want to play Life. Hopefully developers give this unit some love.

      I think it’s a great device to bring families together. It has its own appeal to it that is different from a Playstation or Xbox.
      I like your plan to have all the games ready to go on Christmas Day👍

    I know this was a while ago, but I appreciate your review. My boys are now 7 and 8, and beginning to notice that their friends at school and from hockey, all seem to have one gaming system or another, and we realize we should introduce them to technology 😬 We currently allow a bit of tv before bed, but generally, evenings when they don’t have practice or a game, we all ride bikes, swim, play basketball etc or we will spend time playing board games or reading/drawing/coloring etc. I am interested in this as a means to safely introduce them to gaming, without jumping all in and throwing them to the wolves. This seems as if we could all participate and acclimate them, before they cross over into the, “distance myself from and alienate my parents” phase ❤️

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před rokem +1

      I just ran across your comment, and I definitely understand. I think this table is really interesting for families that want to play games together. It is a “walled garden” so there is little to be concerned about as a parent when it comes to the games. The cost can be a little high, but that’s usually the case with more family friendly curated content. An alternative could be the largest iPad for the family and Apple Arcade. They also curate that game offering and you can put in parental controls for anything else on the App Store, which has many of the games that the Infinity Game Table has and thousand more.

    Can you comment on the response/lag from the touch input? Do you feel it is responsive enough that it doesn’t distract from gameplay?

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před 2 lety +7

      The response time and accuracy both seem to be very good. Hungry Hippos is a good example since 4 players are able to hit the screen all at once and the gameplay doesn’t suffer at all. I think it really comes down to the developer and how they build for touch only interfaces. The hardware seems to be just fine if the dev makes sure to optimize.

    It'd be pretty neat to have something like Table Top Simulator running on this, but there'd be the whole issue of hiding hands and whatnot that I don't know they have a solution for. They could use phones and tablets for that, I guess. That might be a pretty workable solution.

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před 2 lety

      That’s a great idea! If it could be rooted and offer side-loading of apps. It would be possible to load the Steam Link APK and potentially run Table Top simulator. Then it’s just can Steam use the touch screen like it does with a phone or tablet.

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před 2 lety +1

      I’ve never seen the Nabi Tablet, but years ago Samsung had a 22” counter tablet that they sold. It’s kind of similar, but they are updating the IGT regularly, in terms of their catalog and dashboard software. I believe the table is a custom version of Android OS 9, which I don’t think will receive Google Android updates at all.

    It's a much better value than the cabs that they are releasing. ($699 simpsons cab and turtles in time with only 2 games on each). I think over time it will be a good investment as long as they keep adding content to it. I have a feeling there will be hacks for this table which will make it that much better.

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před 2 lety +1

      I definitely agree Kevin. 2 games on Simpsons seems pricey vs 36 games available (most are quality) on the IGT. I’m hopeful that if they deploy some type of store front that you can purchase more games (not just download free ones) then maybe devs will consider the customization for their apps, but I’m not sure there will be enough of these in the market to be attractive. Regardless, I’m still enjoying it, so if this is all there officially is to play, I’m fine with it.

    What a great review I am so glad I came across this. I only saw this table on an Advert for GAME here in the UK a couple of days ago. I was very intrigued by it but really shocked how expensive it is. I was thinking of purchasing one for Xmas for my 2 boys who are 11 and 22, but wanted to know more about it first which is when I came across your review. The first thing I thought was you could play all these games on the devices they already have, is it really worth spending that much? I do think my sons would play with it, it could be transported on holiday with us and be used there. Still undecided but the fact more games being introduced and the possibility’s of other things being added may sway me. I have subbed as I really enjoyed your review!

Then they go and start playing with the games and late into the night will just sit and put together puzzles on it :) I have filmed many of the downloadable games, so please check those out and you will have an idea of what else you can buy for it. There is also a way to mod the table so you can put most any Android game on it.

    This is a great concept that will ultimately become successful, but the big question is the concept ahead of its time? Microsoft had the same idea in 2005 with the "Microsoft Table" that never made it to production (I worked at MS at the time); a flatscreen table that could play tabletop games. Another example is Apple's failed "Newton" PDA in the early 1990s, but 15 years later Apple hit the jackpot with a similar product we know as the iPhone (PDA + cell phone).... Overall its not just about having a revolutionary concept, but have that concept coincide with the mass public's readiness for it, and at a price the public is willing to pay. Is now the moment where everything comes together, or is it a few years into the future?

      I still think it could do that, but they need to come up with a way to offset the initial cost for the majority of people interested in the table. The $999 price point is tough to swallow, but if it was $300 - 500 and you got access to 10 -15 games included and then pay $10 a month or maybe $100 a year for access to every game (I think they are closing in on a 100 or so), it might make more sense.

      It is odd. Another viewer made the point that they could have integrated mobile into the multiplayer games to help alleviate the other players visual advantage. Scramble on iPhone did this kind of thing more than 10 years ago with 4 phones and an iPad as the board. It was pretty amazing at the time.

    I’m not a board game type of person, if they made a table like this with arcade games and modern games instead I bet ppl would be more interested and will be much happier to pay $900… but for this the concept is really boring and so far I’m not impressed, all the games on here are not to everyone’s taste and certainly not my type of fun, and now you have to pay for some of the games but I guess it’s either pay for the more popular/expensive games or it’ll have to be a subscription service fee at some point, because they’ll need the money to keep it running. So for me not good enough and I wouldn’t even pay $200 for it sorry.
    The worst part is of course the fact that you can’t automatically find online players unlike Apple Arcade which you can play on your big tv which in my opinion is far better and more fun 🤩
    I do hope for an arcade and modern gaming table like this but with proper games instead of boring old board games. And with better connection to the internet and decent space then that would be cool 😎

  • @mynameisprivate158
    @mynameisprivate158 Před 2 lety +1

    I don't see this product lasting long, a handheld tablet can do the same thing at a cheaper cost and way easier to store and you can cast a tablet to your TV if you want a larger view. A couple of tablets paired together would een be a better solution than this product as you wouldnt have to turn your back to hide your hand or your ship placement in battleshi[. You could just have your side of the game board on your tablet ETC. Also at this $900 price point it should be able to run full Steam games as well as board games. $900 will buy a 32 inch TV and a low end gaming PC easily ! I This is basically a smart TV turned on its side as android TV's have plenty of power to run everythign this can run with the added little bit of cost for to convert the TV to a touch screen! So $249 for a 32 tv and add in an additional $150 for the touch screen. interface.

    Is everything working completely fine completely fine so you in 2022 did they fix all of the issues goodbye I know my stepdad has a touch tunes at his family Camelot bar-and-grill it's just called Camelot Technically my bar-and-grill too because I'm his Stepson But my point is this thing is only $650 when that touch tunes thing in his bar is $1300 or so give or take so you would be spending half the price Not bad if you ask me I think it's a release a new 1 in 22 with the issues that are fixed or just in general release a new 1 in 2022 I feel like 650 or even $700 It is too expensive especially if the kid is going to get it like purchase it on his own or just in general I just think $650 or $700 however Much it is going to be worth I think 100 or $200 makes a lot more sense being that it's more for kids and I prefer kids and most kids or parents aren't going to spend over 600 or $700 on this I feel like they need to release a new one for maybe an ipod touch price and put it at least a $150 or $200 I think that's way more than worth it Definitely way more worth than $700 or so But I will tell you this is an improvement over the touch tunes thing which isixteen $100 or $1400 somewhere around there respectively so I guess you could say $700 is Half of the price of the touchstone's device for gaming But still I think it should be at least anywhere between $100 $200 would make a lot more sense especially if it's for kids most kids or parents aren't gonna want to spend over to and no kid is going to spend over $700 for this thing I think it's a great price compared to the touchstone's device in terms of price and the touch is way better than the touch tunes device So $700 is still an improvement in terms of cheap I wouldn't say it's the cheapest it's cheaper it's not cheap by any means but it is cheap compared to the touch Tunes device But I just feel like Maybe it's going to be fresh listening and make it better and fix all the problems on the older model make the older model from 2021 the 1 that you're embarrassing in this video make that at least $350 if they don't want to do that they should at least release a new version with all the fixes with the games and everything and Put it at a lower price of at least $200 I think anything over that is overpriced garbage but it's definitely an improvement over the $1000 original price of older models

    Egad! At $850 this seems about $850 too much! Unless it starts getting a TON of new games, and better games than the general mass market Hasbro garbage, this will never fly! Even with Battleship they (pardon the pun) missed the boat by not allowing you to pair a phone so that you can set or see your own fleet instead of the other person having to turn their back. Blech!

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před 2 lety

      The mobile integration you mentioned would have made sense for the multiplayer games for sure. I think what ultimately is tough is getting the devs to support very unique features for a small player base. If it’s a year from now and there are millions in the market (highly doubtful) then better solutions may appear on the device.

    God Damn, $850 dollars for something that you can do on a $50 tablet, and the Google Play Store, all games free, and probably every game you have on there.
    Seriously have you lost your mind, i was expecting full screen pinball, and 1000's of arcade games, on that beautiful screen would have made it desirable, but no as it is, complete RIPOFF 2/10.

    • @FactorofGames
      @FactorofGames  Před 2 lety +1

      Still pretty sane Paul. I bought it to have the family play something together, since everyone in the house is not a game enthusiast. Overall the value in terms of games has been pretty good. If I was to compare most of the hobby arcade products to the IGT, then I would probably say value is not a real decision factor with any of these products. Especially, since the majority of Arcade/Retro/Mobile Games can be pirated to the most simple Mobile/PC device on the market.
      Mostly, I’m happy with the unit, and I’m willing to support Devs and Manufacturers with unique ways to engage with games. I don’t think it’s for everyone, and I’m not under the false impression that $850 is easy for everyone to come by. It’s an expensive toy for sure, but since it’s interesting to everyone that plays it, I’m happy to have it for when company comes over.
