    Finally someone had the brains to design it with REAL tracks, not rubber ones. Being a bit heavier, it will have a better cohesion and stability, which will increase performance both of the machine and the operator because it will reduce the shaking of the whole machine and he operator will feel more relaxed doing his job. Great job, CASE!

      No steel tracks for all major brand CTL’s have been around from almost day 1 at least the last 10-12 years
      You would only use steel tracks for these machine if ALL you did 365 days a year was small forestry work or mine/quarry work staying on soil all the time

    I was part of one of the focus groups for this machine in 2017 at Conexpo. Iv'e kept updated thru the years as the build changed. I believe this is the future of the CTL platform. The dozer undercarriage, C-frame dozer blade, and rippers, are home runs. I always advocated for the Enhanced Hi-flo feature to remain as those attachments make sense for this size machine. I myself am a General Contractor with 2 TV380's in my fleet with one doing 100% Forrest mulching. Whats been missing from the TV380 for Land clearing is a more robust undercarriage. Case nailed it. The options for the tracks are perfect both single and triple grousers as well as rubber. I intend to buy 2 of them (IF) it's properly priced. Please CASE do not over price them.

      Also, the rig to deliver this to the site could be much more compact. As simple as a one ton dually regular cab with gooseneck trailer set up with just enough deck for this unit. Pull into any neighborhood on tight roads and flip a u turn in dead end streets within reason. On and off trailer in minutes. Access through residential side yards. In socal neighborhoods in the hills backed up to forestry land this could be awesome.

    This is an interesting and informative video on a particularly versatile and capable new machine in the compact sector.
    Companies and Owner Operators at every level would find a machine of this size and with this degree of capability an asset to their business.
    Your coverage was excellent, informing potential Owners and Operators of the potential of this superb little machine.
    As with Cat's Next Generation Mini Excavators, companies that listen very carefully to what it is that their buyers want to see on a machine to make it better, it improves the entire industry for everyone.
    Helicopter manufacturers have found that it really pays to learn and better understand how their customers were using their aircraft, whether in the Gas and Oil sector or the ever growing helicopter ambulance role.
    Whoever would have thought that by simply listening to ones customers and better understanding their needs, better machine and beneficial upgrades would follow...

    I can see value to this design in certain applications but remember the phrase "Jack of all trades...master of none". The loader/dozer is cool but the sales will probably be extremely low. One of the biggest problems I see is that a CTL shouldn’t be running on steel tracks and a dozer shouldn’t be on rubber. I think it would be cool for use on a pipeline or something where you spend the majority of your time off-road but the steel tracks would kill it for most construction work. It’s also most likely lacking a lot of power as a dozer.

      , I totally disagree, the thing that takes alot of earthmoving capability away from a ctl is the rubber tracks. The steel tracks anywhere off pavement will really shine off of improved surfaces. All they did is recreate a track loader. A machine that already exists. But gave it much worse visibility. This thing with a yard and a quarter bucket would dig basements in tight areas very well..

    • @strangefruit8776
      @strangefruit8776 Před 4 lety

      Scott McQuarrie it would be great as long as it never saw pavement but that’s a huge problem for them. They most likely won’t be manufacturing them for very long because there will be such a small market for them. It’s a cool machine for a select few people but it’s a huge mistake for a manufacturer to invest in making them.

I can name 10 jobs it is perfect for right off the top of my head. Demolition and all sorts of work around residential, commercial and industrial jobs. Anywhere a comparable sized wheel loader would work, this thing can run circles around it. Plus if they would be smart enough to put quick change type rubber to steel tracks system on it, that would be a real game changer.

    I like the machine alot, but, to me you just really invented a machine that already exists, just everybody forgot about. I just don't see the advantage over say a 455 or 855 track loader with a quick coupler mounted 6 way blade. I think the crawler loaders have much, much better visibility. But it is a nice machine. I bet case engineers read my comment and say to them selves wow we never thought of that. But they will never admit it.

      @dirtdiggur Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely. I agree. These multi use machines are neat to play with but a TV yhe end of the day they are way to expensive and clumsy to run everyday. I would rather have a older dozer and skid on the job verses one of these. Just my 2 cents.

    • @scottmcquarrie7295
      @scottmcquarrie7295 Před 4 lety

      @@dirtdiggur , with all due respect, I disagree. I like the idea of a multi purpose machine but they picked the wrong platform for it. An older case 855, or 455 track loader, not a dozer would be better than this machine, just for visibility alone.

    CTLs are great because they are what they say COMPACT, and FAST, and RUBBER track so I can drive it anywhere on any job. Author should have told you that John Deere main spot light was on there 333G with a new big dosser blade with all the same goodies. This is a big unit. Steel tracks makes it limited in the CTL world. The main point I see is not hauling different machines back and forth. One machine many tasks. The John Deere is rubber track. The Case has a different sub-frame and lift which is new.

    Listen when your building that big trying to be more Dozer like I feel like you should just buy a dozer. I dont see it lasting long with steel tracks and it probably doesn't really do anything well especially dozing. You know how hard it is to grade with one of these? My boss bought a blade for our 299 cat. Yeah after 2 days I sent back to the shop and put the bucket back on.. and does anybody remember a Cat 943? Bring it back Cat!

      I understand exactly what you mean. A skid steer wasn't designed to handle the day to day aspect of heavy dozing. On the other hand, it does appear Case has designed this machine to handle the force of light dozing. Interesting machine.......would like to see how well they hold up 5 years down the road.

My old NH CTL was underpowered but drove beautifully, my new kubota SVL75 shits all over the TR270 in power comfort visibility control/feeling and most importantly reliability

    If it’s designed to lift 5500 lbs I bet it’s poorly balanced for dozing. Tracks are short relative to a dozer, likely making grading harder.

    The heavy steel undercarriage is no new concept Caterpillar has been doing it for years. As for the heavy 6 way dozer cool concept and all but when it comes down to doing serious work I've found that multipurpose machines aren't that great and generally broken down a lot. If you're doing dozer work use a dozer if you're needing a loader use a loader. Kinda like a backhoe yes they'll do the job but they won't do it as fast or as easy as an excavator or front-end loader. Basically for the price of a new backhoe I can buy both a skid steer and a 55 class mini excavator.
