    That's only 99, as Davies was a double-up. I have always believed Holmes is correctly pronounced Homes. If Welsh, Irish and Indian names were included, why not Scottish?

    Murphy and Kelly are not British but are Irish and Patel Khan Singh Begum Ali and Hussain are also not British but are from South Asia.

    I have been living and working in Australia for five years and names are the biggest problem for me. Even some first names, I found them difficult to pronounce and it is rude to say someone's name wrong.

    My Paternal ancestry is pure English, I would have expected the surname of PAGE to be on this list?? You have included names that are not of British origin. Perhaps this is a list of most common today. Disappointed, perhaps you could next time put the time period for the names.

    George Washington Turner and Patrick Henry Turner and Otis Lloyd Turner seem to be the most often repeated in my family that settled the USA and fought against each other in the American Revolutionary War and American Civil War and French and Indian and Spanish Wars and it seems like all the wars. Kristina Marie Turner My name seems to be repeated a lot also.

    Some people apparently think scotland and britain are two difrent places here 95% of the surnames here are Either british or irish and british includes england scotland and wales, Northern ireland is part of the uk there comes the irish the other 5% are indian/pakistani surnames because we got a lot of pakistanís and indians in the uk britosh of Indian and pakistan origin

      Lived here in a England for all 24 years of my life and never met or heard of a Berkshire surname so I’d say it’s probably pretty rare :) it’s a habitational name, Berkshire is a county in Southern England just west of London
