Before you guys talk like that, you need to understand the structure of the league (MLS). It's a hard cap league which means that teams have a limited amount of cash they can spend on players. So, to build a strong team around Messi is very difficult. Too many rules that hinder a team like Inter Miami to bring great players to play alongside Messi. The MLS just softened a few rules that will give teams more freedom to bring more players. I'm sure Inter Miami will take full advantage of that.

MLS is getting more and more popular and you do see more young kids in America making 'soccer' their prefered choice. However, it's going to take a long time to become the no.1 sport in the USA and be able to compete on the same level as the top European leagues. I can see soccer in the USA reach it's peak in a few years time and then, due to the slow growth, rapidly decline in popularity like it always does.
The fact is that most of America just isn't interested in soccer and never will be.

What a naive vision. He wants to have 15 of the best 100 players of the world in the league in the post Messi area. Yet in the Messi era they cannot attract a second top 100 player. Maybe the US socialist league system is not successful in attracting good players. I will see it coming that the league will be proudcof Reus coming this summer. But he is maybe a top 1000 player of the world but very far from the top 100 anymore. The MLS is healthy and grows economically, but they will never catch up with the Championship or 2. Bundesliga. Maybe the Russian Premier League, or Bundesliga Austria. But Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands have way better leagues when it comes to player quality because the best teams can sign the best players they want. They dont have ti care about salary cabs and such.

I think it is a more inclusive sport, you realistically can't go pro in the nba or in the NFL if you're below 6'1-6'2 and you need to be heavy, soccer is more about skill than it is about height or weight.
