    Hey guys looking to do this install at home, the factory drive shaft bolts are "one time use" and should be thrown away once taken out. A lot of fasteners on cars now are this way and are"tighten to yeild" type fasteners. I'm not saying anything will fail if not replaced with new, but its not too much extra money to order the factory drive shaft bolts and replace since you're going through all the time to replace the clutch. Great video Bill and CJs!

    Word of advice when using ARP flywheel crank bolts, after I let the threadlocker cure for 24 hours I like to reinstall the starter motor and start the engine. Let it warm up a little and give it some healthy revs. The assembly grease from the ARP bolts is going to sling out all over the flywheel from spinning. Letting the engine run before installing the clutch will allow you to be able to wipe all of that assembly grease off your flywheel before installing the clutch so you do not contaminate your friction disc and ruin it.
    It is also important to verify that the flywheel is spinning dead straight for added peace of mind. Great video

      I did that in a road race application. They need to figure a method to break it in as a matched set before you get it. I couldn't put miles on a full-blown race car, lowered and full chassis with race suspension. It grenade'd 1st green lap.

    Not sure if I glossed over this or what. But in my box there were 2 alignment tools. CHECK WHICH FITS YOUR PILOT BEARING. For me it was the larger of the 2. I installed with the smaller like an idiot and was reinstalling my t56 swap and added 2 hours of labor pulling the SFI housing back off and readjusting it all. Shaft would go past the plates and impact the pilot bearing. Save time and check!

    I finally got the trans out and next I can put this sucker in. I’m a mechanic and had a lift but no help and had to manage time. exhaust was welded in one piece with xpipe so getting that out was tough over axle. wiggling the trans out before removing clutch line was a big mistake. Had to wiggle it back and forth to get the clip off. make sure to get the passenger cat bolt from the top with extensions and many wobbles, and squeeze extensions on top the trans with two wobbles for top bolt, and make sure to rotate trans clockwise and backwards at angle. Also pry bar and hammer to separate trans.

    If you’re thinking about swapping the flywheel and throw out bearing especially in 11-12s, I would highly recommend getting the tech info from McLeod for clearance distances. I did all McLeod products and now I can’t get the car in reverse or 1st when the cars not moving. Replaced the master clutch master cylinder too. This clutch is specifically designed for the stock throw out bearing

    • @Sick_ridz
      @Sick_ridz Před rokem

      @@eternitykings4233 for your problem I would try swapping that master clutch cylinder first. It’s right behind the clutch pedal. For my issue I ended up just ripping everything back out and going with a stock clutch and flywheel. If you do decide to go after market I would have a transmission shop do the work. I took mine to the Ford Dealer and it was nothing but problems with that clutch

    • @Sick_ridz
      @Sick_ridz Před rokem

      If your looking for some high performance this transmission is trash. You need to rip that mt82 out and put a t-56 6 speed if you want to drift king. The tremec is a much better transmission

      @eternitykings4233 Před rokem

      @@Sick_ridz i have to replace the entire pedal assembly as its about 1-2in off center to the left. Apparently the top of the pedal bracket breaks and causes all these issues. I think the new pedal assembly comes with a new master cylinder? At least i hope, it said “with clutch cylinder”
      But yeah, it really sucks. I had other places like forums and shops tell me the clutch is causing my inability to shift at high rpms. Lockout is super super bad in my case. I just put in a SS clutch line and that didnt help, seemed to make it worse. Car is stock except for 3.73 gears and apparently the previous owner had a laundry list of upgrades before reverting it to stock and selling it. So makes sense everything is in poor condition.

    3000 miles on my RXT which I had professionally installed at Galpin Auto Sport in LA... love the amazing bite and definitive "no slip" on this clutch. For me, the squeaks and chatter in low gears is annoying though. Pulling into a parking lot or car show, navigating speed bumps and having the clutch sound like it's loose or something is annoying. Mixed emotions after spending a grand plus installation. As always though, awesome install videos; no lift at home, so opted for the shop.

      Personally, I'm impressed that Bill didn't 'run the crap out of' someone elses car; when you have a performance car - the one thing that scares the crap out of me, is handing my "baby" over to some adrenaline junkie who has no respect for me or my car.
      I have to wonder if the damage to the clutch may have happened before the owner picked it up in Texas? When you pick up your car and immediately go on a 1,000 /1,500 mile cross-country run, its scary as hell already... especially when you have 900 hp under the pedal.
      Thas a lot of temptation for some kid who has a chance to blowout the carbon - on someone else's dime. A test run through the gears is expected - but as a professional, who is being paid to work on a car, you need to have a little class, some restraint is not too much expect.

    I'm budget swapping a 2013 Ford 3.7 mated to a mt82 into an rx7 FC. With the research I've done a stock 5.0 flywheel and clutch will work with a 1" spacer on the slave. what clutch kit setup, minus the flywheel would you recommend?

  • @SD_Confidential

    Guys, I just received my RXT and McLeod Steel flywheel combo today. Will installation of this clutch void my powertrain warranty? I know the MT-82 is sketchy enough even in stock form. My OEM clutch went out with simple bolt-ons and a tune at just under 19k miles.

  • @adolfomolinam

    You installed the clutch line wrong. The SS line replaces a 2-piece plastic line. One end goes to the transmission and the other end to the firewall directly to the clutch master cylinder on the pedal.

    So my mustang clutch is acting up. I only have 13k miles. I'm taking it in to get it looked at but what do y'all think it could be.. My clutch pedal got super stiff and after I shift the rpms go higher than the car actually accelerates. Seems like a clutch but it's only 13k miles and I've had other manual cars and drove 80k miles on a clutch no problem. My mustang is a 2015 ecoboost

    Great video and I do have a 2013 mustang GT that I need to replace the clutch, but there was two things I didn't see you do since you upgraded to a thousand horsepower clutch , you didn't change the pilot bearing ? that should have came with the kit ? and since the flywheel was off, I didn't see you change the real main seal which would have been a great idea since you had the flywheel off already, I wonder why? I was taught since you have the flywheel off always change the rear main seal so you don't have to go back in there to replace it later , being that you're installing a new clutch it shouldn't matter how many miles the vehicle has in a professional manner the real main seal should have been changed at the same time as the clutch job, humm ?
