Afghanistan’s love affair with the Toyota Corolla is still going strong, despite a history of uncertainty and chaos in the country. The Corolla has long been one the world’s most popular cars, with more than 50 million produced since 1966. Corollas flooded Afghanistan following the end of its war with the Soviet Union in 1989. Since then, it’s been the go-to model for big families and Taliban insurgents alike.

Toyota never dies.
Are these more reliable than W124? xd
Reality coming……yes they do. Quality has been going down hill. They’re just, meh
@@martinr8278 Ford is just much better these days in terms of reliability
My 2022 corolla is dead after 20,000 miles.
@@user-vw6lj7sv3ythis is true. My 2022 corolla has broken down more often in 20,000 miles than my old 1994 ford f250 has in 300,000 miles. Infact my Ford has never broken down.
My uncle have a 2001 Toyota Corolla, sometimes I wonder, why this car keeps running on and on 😂 He’s so happy when he bought it, I was only 6 years old at the time, now I’m 28 years old, and you guessed it, the car’s still pretty much kickin’🤣 Go Toyota Go !
My wife’s 1992 Corolla (made in Japan) still going strong - now driven by her nephew, born in 1998...
@@howardrees9278 nice ! Corollas are just indestructible ! Keep the car 👍🏻
my family has a 98 Camry that was left sitting in the parking lot of our house in thailand for 7 years. i kid you not, when i visited the house recently, i found the keys and tried to get it going. the car started after i gave it a battery jump. obviously the tyres were gone and the interior was a bit funky but i think i’ll try and clean it up a bit. see where we go from here.
One of my dads friends has his 1980 corolla that he still uses and refreshes today to event onto the farm and much more, those cars are really incredible
same, my dad still daily commute with his 2007 corolla that still runs smoothly with minor window motor issues.
Toyota is synonymous for reliability! The Corolla, Camry and the Hilux pick-up truck -- you cannot go wrong!
My husband has a Toyota Corona and Toyota Cressida that came out before these and they still in running condition. The body and interior was refurbished
Toyota are really a reliable workhorse. Not just only the Corollas.
Totally agree with you, not just corollas becoz my dad owns Toyota Hilux since 2012 -2023 never had any kinds of issue thats why its realiable 😅
Mostly the Corollas though lets be honest. Next to the Toyota Hilux. Any other Toyota isn’t made in Japan. Toyota Supra for example isn’t really reliable. Its a rebranded BMW.
It’s sad that if you want a powerful engine car doesn’t last long and if you get a less powerful engine it will last forever.
They are tough enough to have a war called Toyota War
@@MiniNinja258 toyota is also famous for its bulletproof v8
Electric cars will never be able to beat this reliability
that’s true eco friendly
Electric cars are in general far more simpler and reliable than ICE cars, the biggest problem with current electric cars is the battery...
@@veduci22 bruh the whole point of a electric car is the battery
@@veduci22 If Toyota makes EV batteries that can last as long as their combustion engines (not replacing the battery for at least 30 years/400,000 miles whichever comes first), they’d be set
@@veduci22 they certainly are great for fires, and the environment right? Answer yes….you’re left, woke in the head………. answer no…..you did research and are not brain washed/well done. Terrible environmental hazards
@@rat699 everyone forgets that the electric battery is literally a work in progress. Even now, lithium-based batteries might be phased out in favor of cellulose-based. Let Toyota deal with developing a reliable and long-lasting electric battery; they will do to it what they did to the combustion engine.

This is a testimony to the Corolla. Them Afghans know how a reliable car should be!
In Nigeria toyota is king. Corolla, hilux, camry and Hiace are very very reliable cars over here and loved. Parts and mechanics are available in in rural areas. Japanese code of work ethic is just amazing. They make great cars.
I have driven multiple generations of the Corolla in my life. I even worked as a driving instructor for a time and worked in a Corolla that saw a ton of abuse. I was very impressed by how they always seem to tolerate it and live long service lives. That convinced me to buy a 2022 Corolla SE manual for myself which I am in love with. Corollas are the #1 selling car for a reason. They are simple, reliable cars that can take a beating. If you don't beat on them and provide proper care, they can live 2-3 times as long as the average car. I live in Canada and manual Corollas have been discontinued and my car has actually appreciated in value by thousands of dollars. Yet another reason i am in love and cherish my Corolla because if I sold tomorrow I would make about 4-5k in profit. But I won't. This is the kind of car you run for life because it will always be there for you.
Makes me proud to drive a 2013 Toyota Corolla.
Lol there nothing to be proud of driving a Toyota 🤣🤣🤣

I still use my grampa's 1984 corolla (ae86) Has had many problems on the road due to age, but never left me stranded, even with a broken clutch disc on a hill and locked on 4th gear. I always got home with that car 🔥it's slowly coming back to its glory days
Lucky. The AE86 is legendary. Enjoy it and never part with it!
Wow!
Always do everything to fix that classic. It's a very invaluable car to have, especially if it's been in the family for a while.

Yes, when I visited Bangladesh, I can admit your statement from my experiences.
I had 3 Corollas decades ago now I am a Prius owner.
Toyota Auris with 420,000 km on it and running like new, despite missing quite a few oil changes. It still passes the yearly inspections like a king.

These 90's to early 20's Corollas will outlive any Tesla on the road.
And has more feel than a Tesla.
A Tesla is just a soulless EV, the Corolla has an internal combustion engine that makes the vroom vroom noise that every enthusiast loves.
Tesla has no soul
That’s not too hard because Tesla build quality is hit and miss
tesla's live pretty long, this dude just reached a million miles on his not too long ago, and still going on for many more, they're reliable and easy to fix
@@nick_0 the biggest issue with Tesla is the parts. their wait time is worse than Toyota in my area so I wouldn't get one until they fix that issue. another issue is the reliability, I wish Toyota didn't backed out of the deal with Tesla, otherwise we would have an EV that can last at least decade.
Legend says that a Corolla has never stop driving…
I was in Oman, UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait numerous times. Everywhere you see are Toyota cars in the streets. You see many Honda, Daewoo buses, and other vehicles, but nothing matches the Corollas flooding streets. Many have several hundred thousand miles running on mostly all road types and 100-120 degrees in summer times.
Yeah because Toyota is what the average can afford not by choice.

In Brazil we like the Toyota Corolla a lot, but in our country it is a car aimed at the economically higher classes, and due to the fame of a car that “never breaks down” even the oldest ones still have a high price.
That's true, may dad had 3 Corollas, and never regretted having any of them
But Toyota manufactures Corollas in Brazil, right? How can it be so expensive when it's national industry?
More Corollas have been sold worldwide than any vehicle in the world. It’s the number 1 selling car in the world.
If Afghan people use that certain car then it means that car can last at least 100 years, easy to maintain, extremely cheap spare parts and the most important thing is that it can carry huge load of heavy weapons and heavy machines.
I own a 2010 imported corolla altis petrol and it has covered 137000 kms and still feels like new. I feel it is one of the best decisions that I made when i decided to go for it.
I owned a Japanese-made, Canadian-spec, 1993 dark teal metallic Toyota Corolla LE (luxury trim level). It had a manual transmission and a 1.8L DOHC 16-valve engine. I had it for 11 years, and it was simply the best!
I'm surrounded by mechanics, and while they all have their own preferences (one likes BMW, the other likes Alfa Romeo, etc) they all say the same. They might not like the Corolla themselves, but they all say that they're solid, reliable and well-built cars. One cannot go wrong with having a Corolla as your daily
My dad loves his Corollas. He had three of them, a 1989, 2001, and currently, a 2014. Not the most exciting car in the world, but very fuel efficient and reliable.
I love Toyota.
We used to have a 1983 Corolla lift-back in the Philippines. We had it in the family for over 20 year before we sold it to distant relatives. Last i heard 2 years ago it was still kicking. I don't know how it is now but i wouldn't be surprised if it still running.

Most Afghans don't even know what that means
@@maseehwardak6055 Hilarious, the phrase on that "license plate" (really a "placeholder" license plate) seems like a perfect example of the "Engrish" text seen all over Japan, but perhaps the example here actually was made in Afghanistan, even though Toyota is a Japanese company?

1990-95 Corrola, Camry, Avalon
I have owned each and currently am with a 95 Camry LE. None have ever died from failure 2 were totaled by other drivers. My current has over 300,000 miles.
If i could ever get one again brand new id want a 95 Avalon XLS with all the features as it was my favorite of the three I owned befor it was totaled by another driver running into it. My ride is a hideous monstrosity but it is also as reliable as the sun is bright

I have a Toyota Camry and all it has ever needed is a new alternator. Besides oil and brake jobs it has needed nothing else. So I can relate to the astounding reliability of the Corolla. Toyota made a model of Corolla for every person and every taste.

I bought a 2004 Toyota 4Runner new for $27,500 (pretty cheap compared to todays costs). My wife put 44,000 miles on it in 3 years before she was rear ended by a truck totaling our 4Runner. Insurance paid out $23,000, which blew my mind and I even asked the insurance adjuster why the payout was so high. He said “Toyota 4Runners don’t really depreciate.
