I Miss The Old SomeOrdinaryGamers....

  • Someordinarygamers is a channel I've been watching for a long time. Haunted gaming, virus investigations, deep web browsing, and creepypasta readings were things I spent so much of my youth consuming.
But in 2023, Mutahar doesn't upload a lot of these.. Please don't assume this is some kind of 'roast' or 'exposed' video, because it isn't! I love Mutahar, but I can't help but feel a little sad these series I grew up with and cherished so much are no longer being made. What am I to do about this? Stick around and find out!

'Strange Gaming' uploads will typically be me covering creepy/weird video games. Indie, double A, fan games, etc. Nothing's off the table! Creepypasta readings will probably get their own playlist through.
I will still upload things that aren't creepy gaming though! I love the older character analysis videos on my channel and those won't go anywhere, but I want to do a lot more work in defining my 'sub genres' or kinds of topics I cover on the channel, which I will sort into playlists
    Strange Gaming: czcams.com/play/PLfdLs8bx9dDGHlzrnjhORDRzJj7MKOulH.html
Not every video is strange gaming! I do like to branch out occasionally, like my Blazblue retrospectives and whatnot. All of my videos will be sorted into a 'general' playlist: czcams.com/play/PLfdLs8bx9dDHnJZ__5Dz_T29U-SrGLqNv.html

Mutahar's basically become a poor man's version of Charlie/Moist Critikal/penguinz0 as he spends most of his time just cranking out drama content. No point in subbing to Muta's channel if you're already subbed to Charlie either.

i used to watch his haunted gaming videos all the time as a kid, he was one of my favorites. it was jarring to come back to his channel and see such a dramatic shift in the type of videos, hes almost somewhat obnoxious now. same vibes as people who waste money on twitter blue.
his old videos gave me the same intruige and dread as a creepypasta narration, or channels like Nexpo today. its upsetting to see him become a news/drama channel but i guess thats how you stay relevant and get money on youtube these days.

I was also an old subber of SOG from the Haunted Gaming era like you. My interests stemming from their old content along with others who did similar content around that time, like Mullet Mike with his Creepy Gaming series. That’s pretty much why I don’t watch his videos anymore. I do this that kind of content he used to put out. It just feels out of place for him to call himself Some Ordinary “Gamer”. And to your point about changing his content, I fully agree that he can do whatever he wants. I wouldn’t want content creators to continue making content that doesn’t make them happy or fulfilled. But by the end of the day, his new content just doesn’t appeal to me that much.

Every since Mutahar became a drama youtuber he literally fell off for me. Back before all this he had uniqueness and character. I'll always remember him for his creepypasta readings that he would learn to perfect in 2015 (the last year he would make creepypasta reading videos). But he wasn't just the creepypasta guy he was also a tech bro that knew some shit about computers sometimes explaining to the viewer how certain things worked. And who can't forget the Deep Web browsing videos which probably no other person ever did. His gaming videos here and there were also appreciated too because he was just expressing his passions for video games and overall enjoying himself. It crushes my childhood in a way knowing that he just lost all his character and became a Crit1cal clone (don't even get me started with Crit1cal either) and all this buzz about him becoming more and more manic.

I wish the best to SOG but I personally stopped watching for the same reason. I feel like the IRL rants kind of took over the channel.
Going back to coronation day, I appreciate how you took such a vague story and piece together your own conclusive story of the events within the game. I guess that’s just the power of writing out a script before hand, but SOG never really talked about the. Conclusions he came to one investigating some of his own ARG’s.
It’s a nice twist that you do differently with strange gaming.

However, not out of anger or contempt but simply because it no longer aligned with what I wanted to see. It's important to realize that people change. Mourn the lost, but praise the coming I guess. I couldn’t even get to know someordinarygamers as the strange gaming channel it used to be. I only got to listening about spooky content for background noise about a couple years ago and when I finally did see their channel it was already about drama. Probably because I would look at moistcritical and some other drama channels for a bit until I realized that they are basically the same. Something happens and then the channels immediately jump to it or take their time to talk about it and someone gets crapped on.
I was fine with it at first because after all I was listening to it as kind of a background noise before creepy pastas and all that but with the repetitive like content and the feeling that they kept feeding a community that had a dogpile mentality, I just grew to not like those channels anymore.

Same happened with pewdiepie. He used to play games in a similar vein to markiplier and no one liked it at the time, now he does memes and drama videos and hes held in high regards. theyve grown, we've all grown up. Some ordinary gamer doesnt seem to be as interested in that kinda content. Its very kiddy compared to the stuff he does now. He still does virus and deep web browsing just in a more "mature" way. I remember my first vid i watched of him being the madden curse then watched him since. I also remembered him replying to my comments a lot. Sadly, creepy pasta and creepy gaming stuff is kinda a thing of the past nowadays. Now that gaming's evolved and gotten very mainstream its easy to laugh off and debunk creepy stuff in them. I miss the old days of 2008 - 2013 of just.. society in general.

I was around for the 'Fridays with Pewdiepie' era. I wasn't a hardcore fan, but I simply had to tune in because of just how much he was trending. I didn't stick around for too long, but I feel like a lot of really large CZcamsrs eventually leave what made them popular. I either hope I can keep my head and never forget my roots if I achieve the same numbers, or stay the same and plateau. I'm okay with never having a million subscribers, to be honest. It seems pretty overwhelming

IMO pewdiepie is tired of youtube and only continues to make videos because 1: it is expected and 2: it is guaranteed income
His minecraft arc was pretty fun and was a nice resurgence and also gave minecraft a huge boost in new players as well as old players coming back, however can't say anything he has done since then has been all that exciting

  • @jamesonshekmeister
    @jamesonshekmeister Před 16 dny

You know, I did see the similarities of SOG's haunted gaming compared to yours when I started watch your future videos. Everything you say I can understand. Frankly, I don't see this as plagiarism, but more so, "keeping the tradition alive." Like you said, passing the torch. It's good to see people keeping certain entertainment going. There have been times I missed old skits and funny acting like from OG Smosh and Rich Alverez. But then I found Bread Boys and they do something similar that hasn't been done in a while. Doing skits and making entertainment, just like what you're doing but with creepy gaming and media. And I think that's what I miss the most: entertainment.
I don't know if anyone else sees this, but life right now is not fun at all. These days when you're on the internet or off it, there's always just boredom or hatred being spread. Spreading toxicity on social media, corporations being greedy and removing content and products that were fun or just changing them for the worse, or just finding nothing to watch on CZcams that is not drama or rants or whatever. What I'm trying to say this, there's no such thing as "fun" anymore in anything. It's either people don't know what fun is anymore, or just don't want it. And believe me, no one wants to live in a world that hates fun, is boring and colorless, and constantly wants everything controlled and serious, to the point where everyone is just emotionless and numb to the brain. That just sounds like a terrible future.
So thank you Peter, for keeping the "fun" still in life. Or as what my old refrigerator magnet says, "Let's put the FUN back in dysFUNctional." We need entertainment in life to keep us mentally well. And if the fun police doesn't want fun to be a thing anymore, then they obviously don't want anybody to live at all and just be dead inside. Always remember to find fun in life people, and not let capitalistic greed and toxic negativity destroy your will to live. Turn that dystopia into a You-topia.
And to add another point, I am more than just a refugee of old school SOG, I'm a refugee of early internet entertainment period.

I also miss those videos. The serious creepypastas where he gives his critiques, and the trollpasta ones where he invites his friends to rip a bad creepypasta a new one.
He is still the sexiest Indian man alive, but I’d much rather have him tuck me into bed to read me the best Pokémon creepypastas (or the Charlie Brown creepypasta) than just tell me about current events… it’s all about whisking people away to wonderland, not dragging me into reality and telling us what LinusTechTips did.

But it's not on him I just wish he did gaming stuff. Like that's his channel name SomeOrdinaryGamers. His channel is more drama, like that fat clown Boogie or what ever nonsense goes down. I feel like the second half of the arg needs to be reviewed and analyzed with a critical non-biased perspective. I feel like when the arg came back, people were looking at it with nostalgic rose tinted glasses, I am not saying the Arg is bad per say, I am just suggesting that it is not all good, and I have yet to see anybody look at it from both sides, the good and the bad.

    Once Muta got an
E-girlfriend, his content started to change lol naw just kidding, he started changing his content once he went down the numbered Deep Web series, and a majority of those episodes were ok, but some were him finding the same thing at times.
Then he started giving in his two cents about other content creators and then started giving out certain news stories to keep his channel relevant, and he would do a few play throughs here and there.
I do miss “SomeOrdinaryGamers”, I’m not liking the Mutahar Hello Guys & Gals today’s story is era.
He should just stop calling his channel SOG from now on because he rarely talks about video games anymore and just talks about topics in the algorithm and zeitgeist, he might as well just change the channel name to Muta Talks or just Mutahar.
I do miss those old videos though, he definitely felt like the rest of us gamers in those videos, now he feels like a CZcams celebrity.
