  • Lambretta exhaust flange resurfacing with a hand file. If your exhaust leaks at the cylinder this is one way to fix the problem.

Good call, after I had shot this I did put a handle on the file. I was wearing saftey glasses but you can't see them in the video.

i have about 50 copper gaskets in workshop they are all different, sit them on some gasket paste to locate them, and the seam of the gasket should be facing away from the engine, some come wrong way round IE seam to the inside, i been working on lambrettas for 40 years now, and just about mange to have a tight fitting exhasut, i reta the the studs to 8 mill and use allen bolts cut to exact length so they just touch barrel studs !! think about it, the pressure keeps them for loosening !!

good advice but you really should have a handle on that file, one slip and it could be stuck in your wrist.

the gasket should only fit one way correctly. If it's backward the port will blocked a lot on one side and short on the other. Widing the holes is another way to do it but I'd think that would allow the gasket to shift and block the port or allow it to leak around the studs. Still, if it works for you why change it?

Strictly speaking also puts pressure on the cylinder studs and creates an uneven tension against the cylinder head, but that's another topic all together.

    Hey Mike,
Why don't you go over how to CORRECTLY rebuild a top end. From disassembly to the proper torquing of the head.
    Thanks!

Thanks, I have plans for a few more as time allows. Is there anything you or anyone else wants to see done?
