  • Super Bowling Review. It is a video game for Nintendo 64 and due to this game being released near the end of the N64 lifespan, and there not being many copies produced, it has become one of the most valuable and rarest N64 games.

This remains one of my most favorite games on the system. In November 2013 I had just decided I was going to go after all 296 US released N64 games. Went to my favorite local spot for video games and found a copy for what was considered really cheap back then, even by 2013 standards when it would sell for maybe $30-40. I remembered reading it was quite uncommon and was pretty ecstatic to have a rare title in my burgeoning N64 set, alongside such elusive pieces like All Star Baseball 2000 and Automobili Lamborghini, LOL. I wouldn't realize just how lucky I was to find a copy in person that first ever game hunting trip... Eight years of game hunting later and I have never encountered another one since here in the Midwest US.
I couldn't get the game to work right away and almost returned it, but was relieved when I finally managed to boot it up after several rounds of cleaning. Played through the whole game in a matter of hours and immediately loved it. Such a simple and modest yet addicting little game. My brother and I have played probably hundreds of rounds on the VS mode.
I've followed the N64 collecting scene for almost a decade now and it saddens me to see how expensive things (especially this game) have become. I've got to be one of the biggest fans of this game out there, and I wouldn't be able to pay the going rate for this. I always wanted to get the box + manual to complete a copy of this game that I enjoy so much, but I'm not holding my breath anymore.
Now at 295/296 N64 games and this still sits near the top of the list for me. I still play through it frequently, and have even posted the entire main game mode, as well as all the music from the game, to my CZcams page. I care about preserving it that much. This game brings back the warm, fuzzy memories of my earliest days exploring the N64 library and of my earliest days of game collecting in general. It means a lot to me.

@@71dembonesTV Space Invaders! Not even an uncommon one or anything. I haven't picked it up yet because I'd love to come across the last one organically. It would feel cheap to just scoop it up on eBay without a second thought and finish it off so unceremoniously. I've got no problem patiently sitting back and waiting for an opportunity -- most people who complete the set seem to have done it many times quicker. Admittedly I also don't want it to end!

I've gotten much of my collection thru ebay because most of the deals at the thrift stores and garage sales in my area get snatched up quickly! Still have found some treasures via Craigslist and what not. but ebay sniping has been good to me but, it has required patience to get good deals!
Of course, whatever type of collection you're building; it doesn't have to end with the NA library! Lots of cool peripherals and Japanese exclusives out there!

@@71dembonesTV It is a loose set, but I've accumulated a good amount of boxes & manuals in my travels. I don't know if CZcams needs another collection video, but I might post one to commemorate reaching all 296. Most of my cartridges are in pretty great shape too, mostly by dumb luck. Super Bowling, coincidentally, is probably the only one with serious front label damage off the top of my head.
And you're totally right. There's a good chance I'll never be fully finished. I love having the original boxes and instruction manuals, and will probably remain vigilant in looking out for those once the cartridges are all finished off. I also started collecting for the Wii a few years ago, so I'll stay busy!

Retro gaming has gotten stupid expensive. I'm so glad things like the Everdrive exist. I think it was a little over a decade ago that I found my old N64, and a few other old consoles, in storage at my parent's. I was going to collect, but I gave up. I sold most of my games, and used the money for Everdrives, and just got a Retrotink, and now have a pretty good time playing good old games in my living room. I might not be a "real" retro gamer, but I have fun, and don't really see the benefit of having shelves full of old carts with dying batteries, when I can just have one cart that also lets me play translations and fun romhacks, too.

I own this game, and my cartridge has a lot of history behind it, somebody send it from Nicaragua when their political crisis started like 7 years ago, I bought it super cheap, I think 20 o 30 dollars, and it was sold to me because the guy who was taks to sell it in my country didn't know anyone else who might care to get such an obscure title 😅

Was always bothered there was no option to turn off the LIVE camera. Fullscreen would have made this game way more replayable. But I just get tired of looking at that narrow screen after so long.
