Today i heard Paul Tracy complain about Micheal punting everyone off course, I think it was 1994 Molson Indy Vancouver also where Derek Daily called Jacques Villeneuve as a superstar in the making
I watch that race with my dad, I was 12, living in Montréal, cheering for Villeneuve. I still remember like it was yesterday. It was a nice summer afternoon, on the balcony with the TV, on the edge of my seat for 2hrs. Nothing in terms of racing entertainment never came close to that 1995 CART year, in my opinion, not even Jacques F1 win in 1997, even if that was an incredible moment too. My dad passed away since, times flies, looking at this with my two sons today.
Unbelievable race. Amazing to see every twist and turn the action took, with a wild last lap pass. And good lord, when will Paul Page be rehired to call the races? His excitement MADE those old CART races.
Where was Bobby Unser? Why is Lyn St. James an analyst? Shes no good in this video, but I assume this is an ABC broadcast because of the graphics, Jack Arute and Sam Posey.
Sounds like Robby was getting slightly pissed on the radio. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE FUND DEREK WALKER'S TEAM TO COME BACK FULL TIME! WE NEED WALKER TO BE IN THE UNIFIED SERIES!
With the new car this many change(especially if lessons learned from the DP01 are applied to the new car), but I think Infineon suits the current car rather well. With the issues of that dirt at Laguna Seca, I think any benefits of the course compared to Infineon are offset by how bad things can be if you make even a minor mistake. At least Detroit is gone. That circuit made San Jose look brilliant. This would be a good time to get Cleveland or Road America back on the schedule.
Here's hoping IRL comes to this track(unaltered) in 2010. And that they boost the engine's power on road courses. And that they follow my suggestion and switch to the Panoz G-Force(better looking than the Dallara but fully capable of running on ovals, unlike the Panoz DP01. Better compromise). And that the 2011 new car is INFINITELY better than the current IRL.... things.
You want to run all the teams into the ground? The old cars were twice as expensive as the current Dallaras, and the Panoz DP01 wasn't tested for ovals(or produced in large enough numbers to use). We'll just have to wait patiently for 2011. And Laguna Seca is a horrible track for open-wheel cars. Too narrow, and that new stuff they have for motorcycle races just makes things worse. Leave it to the sportscars. I like the track, but its not the place for open-wheels.
I think Road America and Cleveland will be back in 2010. They're two venues just about everyone want to go to. If Detroit can't return, Road America will be a lock next year. Mid-Ohio's contract runs out after this year, and Cleveland's a far better venue both for the on-track action and at-track spectators. I think that Cleveland and Road America NEED to come back. And they should take the lost F1 date at Montreal in place of the Toronto race. Toronto's crap next to St. Pete and Long Beach.
Heh Roger or anyone, please bring back this race. Very unique and great fun to watch.

GREAT RACING!! Cart in the mid 90's was amazing. This should be the model for any series looking to improve the action...ESPECIALLY Indycar.
