  • Maradona vs Belgium 1982 is a highlights feature of Diego Armando Maradona's every touch in his very first World Cup fixture. Having recently become the world's most expensive player having signed for Barcelona F.C. from Boca Juniors, the Belgium team employed a very physical approach to nullify Maradona's prodigious talents. Often aggressively executed by three or four players at any one time - tactics that would later be successfully replicated by both the Italian and Brazilian teams to knock the defending 1978 world champions Argentina out of the competition, the 1982 World Cup was Maradona's first real taste of the physical abuse he would endure time and time again from European opposition whose sole aim was to stop him by any means necessary, even if it the fouls bordered on the criminal and grievous bodily harm. As ever though, Maradona's defiance, desire and love for the ball never ceases to show, his courage and talent eternally inextinguishable.

If you watched this whole match instead of only these pieces, Belgium deserved to win this match. I waeched it in its entirity, maybe you did not. Belgium also had a valid goal wrongly disallowed for offside. Argentina thought they would win this match easily and came on the pitch with an arrogant attitude. Football is a team sport, not the game of one player (except maybe the Argentina of 1986 with Maradona on his very top).

@@stefanstraetmans2885 I watched the whole match I even remember when the Great Raul Lambert played for Brugge and when the fantastic Francois Van der Elst twice scored during the final in 1975....and I won't change my mind dirty players... And this have nothing to do with the country they represented... Just because they were really dirty players
