    Great job on the landings! It helps to have a smooth runway to show off your greasers. I made a similar video 3 months ago, and despite my glider experience, could not land as smoothly as you. Deadstick landings take practice to get right!

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před rokem +2

      Thank you! We are fortunate to have a smooth, long runway in very scenic surroundings. The aircraft makes a difference, too. The Viper has very good glide ratio and can hold a long wheelie with good CG. It’s exceptional flying qualities makes me not want to fly other planes🙂

      @alainrac56 Před rokem +2

      I agree, I do greasers easily on dead stick landings with my plane, and also did when landing as an airline captain, but it’s much more difficult to do it with a fpv model with no airspeed indication😉

      @Motionsic RC & FPV I use a really cheap FPV system on my T7a pucture so grainy i cant even use it, I let others use it and take them on flights. I am working on a training prop plane as we speak and then on to a nice FPV system so I can actually use the system. 👍

      @motionsic  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Beautiful plane. Thoroughly test and familiarize yourself with head-tracker operation before solo FPV flight. I usually have a friend ride using head-tracking FPV while I fly LOS to test all systems on maiden flights. Once all bugs are ironed out then I fly FPV. Also have a friend call out altitude for landing approaches. You want to practice that as much as possible without actually landing before flight time is up. Good luck on your maiden!

  • @alainrac56

    Love the barrel roll around the moon😊 Video is from the cam card, of course? could we see once from the goggle's sd card to see the difference? (in my case, even close, I have some pixellisation sometimes)

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Alan. Make sure your transmission power setting is 700 mW and auto temperature protection is off. Pixelization should not happen within 1km. Check your antenna, they need to be secure and not moving in the wind. Also if they point down, not too close to flight battery. Also, I use high quality mode instead of low latency. My image inside goggles is very clear for the distances I fly. True 720P.

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před rokem +3

      @@ArthurRC true, on the first setup. But once you have the goggles and head-tracker setup, you just need air unit and gimbal for each plane that you want to fly from cockpit. Or you can transfer the gimbal and camera to different planes. Think of it this way, you can sacrifice a couple planes but gain a whole new way of flying for all of your other planes. Each plane, two uses, both LOS and FPV flying. And it’s much more affordable than renting full size planes😉

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před rokem +1

      I honestly don’t know how high the plane reached. No instrumentation on my plane. But I was once told we are cleared to 4000’ MSL in our area, field elevation is at 1400’. So we have 2600’ to play with. I would estimate my plane reached around 400’ agl.

    • @avipatable
      @avipatable Před rokem +1

      @@motionsic no instrumentation? Wow, you do very well to judge your approach speeds, do you not worry about stalling? When I used to fly that big drone (the profile pic I never changed) it used to have a pilots display for things like heading, horizon, speed, height agl, and battery life. I just assumed you would have the same, but it can be taken off the recording. Anyway the model looks nice and high - you get a great view.

      I use standard mode, and saturation is 4 (6 is maximum). In bright conditions, I use ND16 filter on lens. But in this video, no ND filter were used. At dusk, the lighting is naturally best and camera actually makes the color better than real life🙂

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před rokem +1

      So are you saying the video quality has degraded in the goggles? I set the transmission power to 700 mW. 25 MB bandwidth (club rule so others can fly, too). Auto temperature protection off. Stock antenna. There are three things I can think off that could degrade your video:
      1. Your antenna on air unit is loose, make sure they are properly secure so they don’t flop around in wind, movement with metal contact can cause noise. I turn mine in a upside down “V” and tap them to fuselage/ cockpit.
      2. If the antenna is close to fuselage, make sure they are not blanketed by huge flight battery, or you have to change antenna orientation or find different airframe with different battery location.
      3. Make sure you do not have the sun shine directly into the goggles or your screen would be damaged.
      4. Optional, but I use MD filter on my lens when the sun is bright. It makes the color look better and protect the camera sensors somewhat.

    Disable your elevator in flight.
    That's a real man's dead stick landing.

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  Před rokem

      That's not the normal convention for dead-stick though.

    • @choppergirl
      @choppergirl Před rokem

      @@motionsic A dead throttle just makes you a glider pilot, and glider pilots make perfect landings all the time. If you didn't go to glider school first and learn to fly the wing not the engine, you shouldn't be flying an airplane. Maybe time to backpedal.
      A dead elevator flapping in the wind will get you killed. You can lose rudder, you can lose aileron, you can lose throttle, and if you're plane is balanced you can still fly it fine.
      A dead elevator though.. hmm.. yes, if it's fixed flat in place, and you use throttle to raise and lower your nose. That is more worth practicing.
