Many Western people hate hearing China is doing well. I am a small youtuber who now lives in shenzhen. even on my german channel i get regularly nasty messages saying i am bought by putin, by russia, by china. just for saying chinese food is yummy, shenzhen's streets are clean or that russia owns vast amounts of natural resources and will not just get broke like it has been said for years.

He was one of the very first white man went to China as teach English teacher. He was deported by the Chinese authority and banned from entering China again because he was caught molesting many of his young female Chinese students. Then at one time, he was caught trying to rape a young 15 young old student, but unsuccessful. That 15 years old student he has tried to rape went back home and reported to her parents. Next day the parents went to school and reported the case to the school and then to the police. After further investigations by police, asking more female students and surprisingly many of the female students that he has molested and tried to rape all came out and tell the police what have happened to them. He was then deported and banned from entering China again. And became an anti-China CZcamss vlogger.

BTW, making money through livestreaming is big in the West too; most of it is just through gaming though (mainly guy streamers), or sex appeal (mainly female streamers.) Whereas in China, content can be about anything, not just games.

I see you've discovered who SerpentZA is. I used to follow his videos 10+ years ago. Him and Laowhy86 (Matt) were pretty cool guys back then, but in 2016, when China changed their English teachers rules, now vetting English teachers more thoroughly, they didn't make the cut, couldn't get a good job anymore, and both of them became bitter. That's when they decided to only make Anti-China videos and discovered that these videos would draw 10 times more views than objective China videos. So that's basically their business model now: grifting and conning all the China haters for all their money. But yeah, looking back at their videos, SerpentZA always had the I Am The Main Character syndrome, always subtly looking down on average Chinese people.
I was in China in 2014,the last year before complete control of Xi and the CCP.

The business went under because they didn't have any safety certificates or standards so it couldn't be sold to the public.

Yeah, it's a shame cause I used to love their videos. Especially their ADV channel where they rode around rural China exploring. I loved the raw exploration element. It's one reason I'm going to Yunnan to teach next year. But then it just became anti china bashing literally 24/7. It's popular to hate China, DOZENS of anti-China channels on YT now sadly.

I could show homeless on streets, drugs and needles littering the sidewalks, talk about how police beat and shoot people, Americas school shooting issues, the disgusting metro system, government officials who take bribes etc. I can create a bubble where my viewers will only see what they want to see. After all, all those things I state are indeed true. HOWEVER, it's not the whole truth and it's not in context. That's the issue.

I was one of his very early subscribers, before he got really famous. His early videos were fair assessment about China, both good and bad, but fair. I think after some stumbles in life, and his visa renewal was refused, he got bitter and desperate. That’s when the very negative videos started showing up. My opinion is Winston wasn’t cut out for the China in the long run. He probably has some personality issues that makes him have harder time fitting in. He also just didn’t have enough useful skills to be employable in China, I.e he wasn’t up to snuff in competition. When Winston first came to China, it was easy picking. White people were all treated like gods. As China developed, the novelty for white peoples started wearing off. A lot of new foreigners came to China as well, boasting stronger resumes and more to contribute to the economy. People like Winston just couldn’t compete
