    • @blurry.magnets
      @blurry.magnets Před 7 měsíci +1

      I love the shape, aesthetically.
      But in practicality, I worry the balance would be off, given how low down on the fretboard the first strap button is.
      That’s why guitars with longer horns usually feel better standing up.
      I have a T style guitar that suffers a slight balance issue like this. Simply using schaller strap locks to effectively make my strap sit above the button has done so much and that only loves the horn up about a fret and a half.
      feels pretty good now, but still considering making my own extension that doesn’t look overly out of place..
      Anyway sorry thanks

  • @z-9693
    @z-9693 Před 6 měsíci +1

    I love the design aesthetic on that guitar. I don't think I've ever come across an instrument that was dead perfect to me. Until that guitar. Granted I've never played it, touched it or seen it with my own eyes (which is a form of touch. really!) but as far as I can tell every element of it has been carefully considered and I wouldn't change it. That doesn't sound like a big deal but I buy & sell tons of instruments and have for just about the last 25 years, so the number of instruments (guitars & basses of every imaginable origin & configuration, state of repair, value, etc.) hmmm... I don't know precisely but we're talking Wilt Chamberlin numbers here.... I doubt that i've had hands on many valued over $5k USD at the time I owned them anyways... perhaps 10-20 in that range and maybe that makes the difference because once you get to like Custom Shop or Master Built level I'm likely not going to be making choices that 'improve' an instrument in any tangible way, it'd only be changing something to better meet my personal preferences. but anyways, for me & my aesthetic that guitar is about as perfect as possible. Thanks for sharing it and of course, much gratitude to Patrick for having the refined taste, the vision and the ability to execute to bring something so perfect from the mental realm into physical existence. Amazing work!! If only I could afford to have him build one for me. I'll keep on dreaming... or even better have a go at creating something similar myself!

    That black glow in the dark material is pretty cool. I've known of Hufschmid for years now. I'm sure they are great guitars, but many times they can be a bit underwhelming for such expensive guitars. This paricular isn't underwhelming though. And there isn't that much custom options to customize the builds. Like last time I checked he only makes them out of mahogany and not many other wood options for other parts of the guitar either. Most of the time it's also just a plain mahogany body, very premium looking mahogany but no flames or such. But he has a theme and identity in his builds, which I do appreciate and I've heard nothing but great things about his guitars but they can be a little monotone in appearance.

    What a lovely guitar. I saw Patrick posting about it and didn't expect it to end up in your hands! 2 questions though:
    1. I've never played an Iceman so maybe this is just a false assumption but don't they tend to neckdive due to the body shape? Hows this guitar holding up in that regard?
    2. Will you do a video on the picks too? i've been curious about them for a while, though I'm not sure if I could ever make them work for myself. I assume trem picking is probably hard with those, right?
