    Mine just started stalling, but only a few times so far. Weather has been cool so hopefully a software update solves the issue. Getting new calipers and latest software update (v22_07_20) on Tuesday so fingers crossed.
    I'd chuckle at the Ducati news but since I've already had my bike in the shop for almost 3 months on warranty work, it's more of a sympathetic murmur.

    • @ThrottleBackRubberDown
      @ThrottleBackRubberDown  Před 3 lety +1

      Man...I laughed pretty hard reading the "sympathetic murmur." I would be devastated if I bought that MTS and had to have my engine replaced. What a nightmare in so many ways. I know the stalling issue is a relatively easy fix...the harder part is getting the dealer to replicate so they can go about the flashing and addressing the ECU/mapping. Time will tell.

    i had the same issue. Seems to be ok now, but will be curious to see if it comes back with warmer weather. Quick post about the TFT updates. I remember a thread on this. I recently had the TFT's updated on my R1250R and my S1000XR. Big difference. On the R1250R, i know see the sport menu screen and display. despite being led to believe you only get that on the Rally color HP bikes. Second, the bluetooth issues have disappeared. Much more stable now. It might also be because i swtiched from Sena to Cardo. Cardo has a better bluetooth stack apparently. Lastly, my dealer here in the US said that BMW advised them to do the updates for free if customers complain...

      Very interesting. I will be down there this summer as soon as it starts happening and send "fresh" footage. Whether they can "replicate" the problem or not I will be more forward in requiring a solution as it shouldn't be happening.

    My buddy has had his new Multi V4 in the shop for 2 weeks now waiting for the dealer to fit the new engine. Ducati already shipped the new motor to the dealer before he knew his bike had been affected. Ducati are handling this quite well but it does all come down to the dealer and their ability to get the job done quickly. In the meantime, they have given him back the 2019 GSA he traded for the new Multi as a loaner. They are the only Ducati dealer in the ATL area (consequently, we only have 1 BMW dealer in the ATL area as well. It's a sad state of affairs in ATL if you want some warranty work done on your euro bike) which is probably one of the causes to how long it's taking.
    He's got about 7,500 miles on his bike and no whiff of an issue but good they've addressed it quickly.
    I'm considering trading my GS for either another Multi (would be the 2nd I've owned) or an XR. 2 buddies have the new XR and love it. But it is an only bike for me so I've got to consider if it's a good enough tourer. I've ridden a new for a little bit and it was fun for that short period. I haven't seen any good videos in English comparing the new Multi to the new XR.

    You're a mellow dude. I'm so high strung with a short fuse. If I had a 2020 BMW that randomly stalled. I'd flip my lid, torch the bike and bad mouth BMW for the rest of my life. That's absolutely unacceptable and they should all be recalled instantly and fixed.

I am out here in California on the West Coast and it gets a little bit hotter here and I just had three more stalls last week on the freeway in the intermittent traffic. Any update on the stalling?

    I reside in Cape Town, thanks for sharing this, I got my S1000 XR 2020 in December, I had this engine cut off 2x as you describe in your early video, in Jan/Feb it hasn’t happened since, I hope it gone even though I know it wasn’t fixed so wishful thinking. Am taking a footage in today my TFT keeps rebooting randomly while riding, not as big as engine stalling though but irritating as I love my music uninterrupted.

    TFP.....good question if the weather will bring back the stalling issue. Last time I brought my bike in they re-mapped the ecu and it hasn't happened since. Let's see what happens when it 90 degrees. On another note, have you ever heard a clunking sound from the rear end when going over bumps? My chain is within spec but when I hit some bumps or do a 90 degree turn there is some kind of clunking sound...others have heard the same thing but no resolution. Definitely glad MotoGP is back!!!!

    • @ThrottleBackRubberDown
      @ThrottleBackRubberDown  Před 3 lety +1

      I am really interested in seeing how it performs when it gets hot again...I suspect it will start up and I will get it down and have it addressed. I know I could get it tuned but not sure I want to go that route and owners shouldn't have to on any bike, especially ones that cost this much. I haven't heard any clunking sound but the chains on these bikes are absolute crap. Mine was so far off after about 600 miles it was sad. Is your center stand tight? Assuming yes...if yes do you have a top case of any kind? Some times if there is stuff in there I think I hear the load shift (not the actual stuff in the case but the case itself) as it is set up to move with the bike. The whole plate moves. Got to love MotoGP!

    So if the problem continues, I think the best way is to try to flash the latest firmware to your XR. It is free in terms of costs, but takes a lot of time, like 3-4 hours on dealership. Perhaps there is already a new firmware availible that can solve that issue.

    My stalling issue never went away, I found it would occur after coasting on decel for some distance before pulling the clutch lever, regardless of what gear I was in. It would happen in 6th gear when slowing from 100kmh or even 3rd gear from 40kmh. My resolution for the issue is to not downshift using the clutch on decel.

    As I already mentioned in your previous video, but I have never ever had this stalling issue on my S1000XR model 2020, not even when we had temperatures well in excess of 30°C here in Belgium of summer 2020.
    Could there be a fuel purity issue instead, i.e. some sort of dirt in the fuel or even too much water in the fuel?
    Under normal circumstances this water in the fuel poses no problem.
    Lane filtering or lane splitting during traffic jams is perfectly legal here in Belgium.
    The rules are simple, only the space between the leftmost lane and the one to its right must be used, maximum speed is 50 km/h, the difference in speed to the other vehicles should not be more than 20 km/h and the hazards must be turned on.
    Unfortunately some bikers are going very much faster than 50 km/h in between those two lanes, but not yours truly.

    • @ThrottleBackRubberDown
      @ThrottleBackRubberDown  Před 3 lety

      Great info on the filtering. I don't think there is a fuel purity issue based on the scope of the problem being reported by others. I think for sure they need to reflash the ECUs on these bikes that are having the issue. When all is said and done if my issue resurfaces I will be working with the dealer and BMW North America to get a TSB for dealers on the issue. If for some reason they can't sort I will order a Brentune. Appreicate the info and support!

      @@marcos.1771 Well keep in mind the difference of octane ratings from Europe to the US. Pasted a quick explanation below
      In Europe the rating on the pump is simply the RON figure. America, by contrast, uses the average of the RON and the MON figures, called the AKI (anti-knock index). Thus, 97 “super unleaded” in Britain is roughly equivalent to 91 premium in the United States.
