    I understand the worries about flashing. I did flash my vstar also , actually before the warranty was up. It made a great difference as I was going to sell it. I think you have to figure out if your happy with the bike as is, and how much happier would having the changes make you.
    That takes time and digging research, at least that way the decision will be the one your most happy living with.

    Just a little update since our last talk: it 's getting hotter here in France, and last time I took my bike for a trip the stalling issue were back (it was 79°F outside).
    So, yes: I also believe that is a mapping issue.
    My dealership has contacted BMW which is gonna send a kind of "black-box" to put on my bike: it will record all data when I use the bike to find out where does the issue come from. I'll tell you if they find anything :)

      @ThrottleBackRubberDown  Před 3 lety

      I would do mine in a second if I didn't have the warranty to think about. So...about 480p...My videos are currently shot in 1080 but I need to do some work on settings. I know YT compresses the crap out of videos but I am not satisfied with all the blur/pixelization I see. Revzilla did a great article on the settings they use for Daily Rider. My issue with shooting at such high quality is my cheap laptop and the time it will take to edit/upload. I am going to play around a bit in the coming weeks/months to work on making some improvements to find the best quality that still yields a reasonable amount of time on editing/uploading. I know when I shot in 2.7k the time was significant. I think I might give 4k a try though and see how long it takes just for giggles and see what the end result looks like. I really want to make some improvements in this area.

    I get my new s1000xr te m sport in a week and will get it flashed by bren when the 1st service has been completed. If you buy the bren handheld, it will store the original factory settings and you can simply restore these just before any visit to the bmw dealer .Then when you get it back re-install the bran flash from the handheld. Also my gen 1 XR has covered 30000 miles without any issues or engine warranty problems so maybe this is a factor for you whether to get the flash done. Also on Cubans website , 3 years ago he had stage 1 and 2 bren on his gen 1 xr and rings the hell out of the bike all of the time and no problems with the engine.

    I have a 2016 S1000XR well out of warranty, I really don't go to BMW for service since they charge INSANE prices to do simple work. I do most everything myself. I just ordered the tune from Brentune, my bike is difficult to ride below 20 mph and I can really tell how damped the throttle is in the first few gears. I really just want it uncorked. Plus better fueling sounds great and can't hurt.

    I just got the handheld remap done with Brentune, much better at city speeds now & smoother throttle application throughout all rpms.
    Now when you fire it up, it doesn’t rev at 2000rpms for 30 seconds, it just goes directly to around 1350rpms.
    Overall very happy, with a full system steel Akra and BOS exhaust in my case.
    I was looking for that smoother throttle response, didn’t care too much about the extra power, but it is definitely welcome.
    Before any servicing, I’ll reflash it to stock (it just takes a few minutes). My Service guys at the dealership said that shall I reflash it back to stock before servicing, it should be ok.
    At the moment no stalling issues, but in NYC it is still cooler... will keep an eye out.

    My immediate personal reaction is:
    If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
    All BMW bikes are manufactured in Berlin, Germany.
    This stalling issue is confined to North America, therefore there must be something happening over there that is causing this problem.
    You mentioned a possible air-fuel mixture issue.
    Here in Belgium I am unaware of this issue.
    But I would never ever fiddle with the software of my BMW S1000XR model 2020, if there was even the slightest chance of voiding the warranty.

    • @ThrottleBackRubberDown

      @marcos.1771 Před 3 lety

      @@ThrottleBackRubberDown You also keep mentioning that this stalling issue possibly only occurs in high ambient summer temperatures.
      Again, this points to the possibility of fuel and air being the cause, but why only in North America?
      Make sure you buy your fuel from very trustworthy sources, if possible always from the same ones.
      The cooling liquid of the S1000XR easily reaches the boiling point of water - even in the cold of winter - and that’s where its fan kicks in. Surely your summer temperatures never get that high.
      BTW, the S1000XR’s air filter should be replaced every 10,000 km (6,000 miles).

    Knowing BMW, I'd bet they'll void it at least in terms of engine issues. I know with some vehicles, if it's flashed at all, when the dealer hooks up the diag and finds that out, instant void and that can't be changed/challenged. My BMW is older, so there's nothing like this for mine, even if I wanted to. Do they make a AF-XiED for the S1000XR? Sometimes that can smooth things out and wouldn't void a warranty, at least I don't think so. I know people that get this just to raise the speed governed on the K1600GA which is limited to 101 or something like that. BMW does some kooky things that IDK if I'd buy another. I was thinking about a BrenTune after reading up on it, however, I’m not going to do this after reading it might void the warranty. One of the reasons for buying new was the warranty, I had a Multistrada that was out of warranty and it cost me a fortune, once bitten twice shy and all that.

    I don’t think using the “it could void your warranty“ argument is valid. BMW will look for any excuse to not honor a warranty. If you over rev and the engine blows up, they’re going to blame you. So that argument just does not hold water with me. There are obviously some tuning flaws with the 2020+ XR that I experienced and I resolved with the Bren tune I’m very happy with the results. But they can’t just willy-nilly void your warranty because you had a tune down to it. I tuned my bike for drivability issues caused by BMWs and I’ll be damned if I’m going to accept them not owning up to it because something else goes wrong. You also forgot to mention that since you purchased the handheld you can always flash it back to stock so they will never know, and cannot use it as an excuse for the warranty. So you can either live with the screwed up tune that BMW put on the bike, or you can fix it the choice is yours…
