What baffles me is why AGS thinks their poor behavior and communication issues won't effect the gaming communities view of future releases by AGS? I know for certain that if things continue as they have, I will be more reluctant to invest my time/$ in LOTR or any other game from AGS under its current management. It is one thing to spend $40-$60 on a game and realize it was not what you expected and stop playing... its another to be actively driven away by the behavior and choices of the developers.... I for one will remember
I wouldn't say 10 but it still isn't close. Alpha 2 is this year, with probably 2-3 years until beta and then 1-2 years for 1.0 after that. Naturally im pulling this all out of my ass but Im praying they don't pull a star citizen, Sharif seems to be much less of a scope creep maniac like Roberts is.
the real sad part is how over hyped Ashes is and over hype just leads to people being let down. hell when people understand that the game is pvx and will have open world pvp dungeons where you're going to have groups camping it for themself restricting everyone else's progress people will quit. 🤣
I mean it is open development. It's not like any part of the game is a mystery or will continue to be. It's easy to be cynical. In a market where all we get are battle passes, p2w and new world BS. People are hyped because someone is trying to do something different AoC will definitely push people to group. Have to remember that no one has actually tried what Intrepid is doing, not the same.level.of detail. I doubt groups camping dungeons will really be a big thing or even a small one. High risk, low reward. Good groups will be focused on the higher reward activities. Also, those people will have enemies, that will LOVE to come fight them. PVX is basically an entirely different type of game.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off at AGS tripping over themselves trying to push updates to consoles. Unlike PC where stuff is more dynamic they have to pass through filters on PS5 and Xbox. It's going to be funny to watch console players raging at AGS for making them download 40-60 GB every update out of sheer stupidity and incompetence.
2GB download, but it was 41GB update of files. For me that was 1min download and 30mins updating. Steam shows this as 44 GB update (not sure if all game do this, combining the update+download)
While the Darker Reason does sound appealing, I would lean more into Hanlon's razor. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Did AGS need to pivot to a new playerbase? Probably. Are they doing it on the most tone deaf way? Absolutely. With the shuttering of the forums its clear AGS/Amazon has viewed communication as an expense not worth its cost and are reflecting it again here.

However, it's narrated by some random male voice instead of "GRACE O'MALLEY", so I don't know what's up there. Personally, I think your "dark theory" is going in the wrong direction. I don't think the New World content is intentionally bad because the devs are coordinating a malicious marketing campaign trying to drive old players away now so they're gone before October. I think it is more likely be a reflection of a dev team that is just going through the motions because they understand they won't have a job after December 31, 2024. That could be because there is no plan to support New World after this year from their Irvine, CA location (because it's being outsourced to the Romania division), or it could be a reflection that internally they know that they are not going to meet their console release date (due to technical development issues), which would essentially be a cancellation of the game if they can't complete that in time for the Holiday 2024 release cycle. I'm enjoying the channel's attempt to chronicle everything that AGS is trying to do with NW: A, from the perspective of a knowledgeable player who is not trying to make excuses for the devs. If they keep up the current pace of odd decisions and poor communication, the next 4 months should be pretty fun to document.
I'm a lore person and I love the story of New World when I played day 1. The story still needed some work but I still loved where it was going. I feel that Grace isn't suitable to be the MC of the game, she doesn't have the serious tone needed for the lore because the world is very harsh. Dunno why they made her so quirky, i guess kids nowadays loveeee quicky characters. She at least could've been one of our companions. I would've preferred if Yonaz Alazar was our main companion for NW. He's a very old Soulwarden with lots of experience and knowledge with Aeternum. Kinda sad he got corrupted and died because he could've been the Deckard Cain of NW.

I think 4D chess with their YT is giving a bit too much credit. based on history, the simplest answer is usually the right one: they're just continuing to market to new console players and that's it. If the game is now being advertised for preorder on the front pages of consoles, people will be looking it up from now until release regularly, so having relatively new content geared for them is a simple goal. Any similarities with series years ago is likely just copy/paste laziness.
I think they need to just drop new world and let the mods fix the game and add cooler stuff. They need to focus on making that lord of the Rings game the best it can be.

New World made me appreciate devs at Blizzard much more. 40gb for empty patch? And we all know this is not the first time, it keeps happening every time they start/end event. Wows whole expanions dont even weight that, and those contain actual content and you can predownload days before. When expansion comes out servers dont need a restart, they just pull the switch and the new content is accasable. You can play the game while its downloading and you genuinely need only like 10% downloaded to launch it. It shares files between versions, so if you want to download classic and already have retail you have much less to download. Im only in the process of getting access to fiber, so those 40gb is really heavy for me.
I won't unsub or turn of notes for New World Official stuff. I'm going to stick around and keep informing all the new potential players what the pc players have had to endure in the past three years. Honestly and bluntly. Maybe we can save some people from potential wasting their time and money.

It is not 'massive patch', you are re-downloading entire game again for few hundred mb patch perhaps. They began doing this long ago for unknown reasons, perhaps they can't implement installing a small patch without causing bugs who knows..
Ultima Online is and will always be my favorite game of All time late 90's to early 2000's. New World Is the closest to Ultima Online Game I got. I had 5k Hours into it. I stopped playing because there is no real end game and I hate how it is being ran. I hope one day it will be good or maybe when Lotr Comes out. I love the combat in NW by far one of the best around but I can't stand the way its being ran. Sad to see that they are leaving PC players in the dark. Hope it all changes.

Personally I think this is just an example of AGS hiring multiple marketing agencies to do different streams of work. I don't think there is some deep state conspiracy here. You hire one team to produce the how to videos, another for trailers and hype, another more internal team for dev conversations, etc. Their marketing budget is most likely very large and they know they need to do as much as possible pre console launch to lay a framework for new and returning players. Existing players will either stay or go in their eyes at this point they have to march forward because they are already marching forward.
The more and more I think about it’s pretty hard to react to all that in a „normal“ way. Everyone who plays the game (and payed for it (it’s crazy that they remove zones people payed for and moved them to a payable expansion)) just want to play a game with a good base. But I think the devs don’t get what the customers want. So flaming the devs is the obvious way to go to release all the anger but that doesn’t really solve the problem doesn’t it? So what’s the correct way to solve the problem? To communicate what the playerbase wants and that the devs hear it and try to do the best out of it? Maybe it’s just a short timeline in the history of new world where they have to stop delivering content to bring back even more after console release?

The trailer posted is probably going to be the trailer used on consoles to market the game. What I really don't understand is what you are hoping to accomplish by complaining about how forgotten the PC players are. I believe New World Needs to sell over a million in October, it needs to maintain a player base in the hundreds of thousands, or it's going to get shut down. They would have shut it down long ago except for this console release, and if you like New World and want it to stick around for a while, I think you'd be better off trying to find the positive in all of this. The only possible thing you will accomplish with these videos is to turn more people away from New World, you aren't going to influence the Devs plans. That's your prerogative, but is that really what you want? With that big patch - I think a big part of the New Player Aeternum experience will be a much more robust main story with lots of cutscenes and more fleshed out relationships between certain NPC's, my guess is that they are starting to patch this into the game now.... and maybe these patches are also changes to the way the files interact with each other so they can make smaller patches later.
If your conspiracy is correct they really underestimate PC players. PC players will make sure to keep notifications on just to downvote, and comment on videos that are trying to suppress the old 😂
Ok so what I took away from this video is that it’s an amazing game that you love since you obviously care about it so much and keep making videos for it and looks like you’ve got tons of hours into. Sounds like AGS made a good game. Great video and thanks for showing me this game. Now I want to play it with such a positive video. Oh another thing I realized is it looks like I can sink thousands of hours into this WITHOUT spending a monthly subscription. That is incredible compared to most games that I never seem to get more than maybe 100 or more hours of gameplay from. That’s pretty cool
I've been saying it for months , probably a year, that they hate the current players and they want to either move into another project or let the game die on PC. The players have been very toxic since the forums and now on discord, whining 24/7 about bugs, no content and everything. Ofc i'm one of them and ofc I don't justify the devs. I'm just saying that If i were them I would hate my customers as well.
NW is one of the most toxic games I have ever played. After 2500 hrs and playtime on 3 different servers I was done. I would play with chat turned off because it was always terrible. So, really, the game is toxic front to back. Perhaps some servers were a game players utopia but most were just bad. No amount of moving around the deck chairs is going to save this game.

The update size is unacceptable why are there so many updates that are 40+ gigs i have never seen patches this big before in any other game.

They live a life where they're constantly trying to grief and troll players. Lots of people cheat, abuse exploits and are constantly working to get an advantage over others.
Just look at NW's company and territory control system for example. If they think they can just move forward then they're delusional

you underestimate the tenacity of people who dislike the game though XD the discord still has people who hasn't played in months or more and don't plan on doing it again and don't have any hopes for the future of the game, and yet there they are everyday complaining lol

Personally I think this is just an example of AGS hiring multiple marketing agencies to do different streams of work. I don't think there is some deep state conspiracy here. You hire one team to produce the how to videos, another for trailers and hype, another more internal team for dev conversations, etc. Their marketing budget is most likely very large and they know they need to do as much as possible pre console launch to lay a framework for new and returning players. Existing players will either stay or go in their eyes at this point they have to march forward because they are already marching forward.
New world is dead. Time to move on. Don't waste time on devs who don't care about you.
The more and more I think about it’s pretty hard to react to all that in a „normal“ way. Everyone who plays the game (and payed for it (it’s crazy that they remove zones people payed for and moved them to a payable expansion)) just want to play a game with a good base. But I think the devs don’t get what the customers want. So flaming the devs is the obvious way to go to release all the anger but that doesn’t really solve the problem doesn’t it?
So what’s the correct way to solve the problem? To communicate what the playerbase wants and that the devs hear it and try to do the best out of it? Maybe it’s just a short timeline in the history of new world where they have to stop delivering content to bring back even more after console release?
What i don't understand is who this is for? Its not like console players and waiting with baited breath refreshing nw channel for more info, its all pc players lol
Think you guys are nit picking this a little too much. I know we didnt get the content we wanted, but I'm really excited to see them using the in-game animations for their videos and story now.

The trailer posted is probably going to be the trailer used on consoles to market the game.
What I really don't understand is what you are hoping to accomplish by complaining about how forgotten the PC players are. I believe New World Needs to sell over a million in October, it needs to maintain a player base in the hundreds of thousands, or it's going to get shut down. They would have shut it down long ago except for this console release, and if you like New World and want it to stick around for a while, I think you'd be better off trying to find the positive in all of this.
The only possible thing you will accomplish with these videos is to turn more people away from New World, you aren't going to influence the Devs plans. That's your prerogative, but is that really what you want?
With that big patch - I think a big part of the New Player Aeternum experience will be a much more robust main story with lots of cutscenes and more fleshed out relationships between certain NPC's, my guess is that they are starting to patch this into the game now.... and maybe these patches are also changes to the way the files interact with each other so they can make smaller patches later.
The game is going to be shut down next year.

Ok so what I took away from this video is that it’s an amazing game that you love since you obviously care about it so much and keep making videos for it and looks like you’ve got tons of hours into. Sounds like AGS made a good game. Great video and thanks for showing me this game. Now I want to play it with such a positive video. Oh another thing I realized is it looks like I can sink thousands of hours into this WITHOUT spending a monthly subscription. That is incredible compared to most games that I never seem to get more than maybe 100 or more hours of gameplay from. That’s pretty cool
I've been saying it for months , probably a year, that they hate the current players and they want to either move into another project or let the game die on PC. The players have been very toxic since the forums and now on discord, whining 24/7 about bugs, no content and everything. Ofc i'm one of them and ofc I don't justify the devs. I'm just saying that If i were them I would hate my customers as well.

NW is one of the most toxic games I have ever played. After 2500 hrs and playtime on 3 different servers I was done. I would play with chat turned off because it was always terrible. So, really, the game is toxic front to back. Perhaps some servers were a game players utopia but most were just bad. No amount of moving around the deck chairs is going to save this game.
