When full of material You dispose it but it takes A LOT to do it..... Look for it at an artist's store at your country!
I have a black once-oval-shaped eraser that I’ve had since 6th grade (about 14 years ago), and that thing is STILL my die-hard go to. I’m gonna be so sad once that thing finally bites the dust.
My favorites are kneaded erasers (any brand really), Faber-Castell Dust Free/Tombow Dust Catch, and Tombow Mono. Sometimes an art gum is nice to have, but very crumbly. I don't really like white plastic erasers very much tbh.
I actually prefer the rounded corners on my erasers. They're less likely to tear at the paper, and often feel softer than a fresh eraser. Plus, you can rub the "traditional" eraser off on paper and clean that too.
Everyone seems to be talking about how the pink one is just fine and lemme say, as an artist, the white plastic ones are infinitely better. I always use pentel. I havent used a pink eraser in ages
I just use dried hot glue. Works and you can easily clean it by rubbing it on a sheet of paper. And making different shapes of hot glue erasers is easy too.
Every eraser has its own purpose and reason for existing. Almost all pink erasers are there for a few primary reasons that I won't list here, and the most important one is price. All erasers are absolutely abrasive to a certain extent or otherwise cause some kind of interaction with the surface and the media. The question you need to ask is what is the most effective way of doing the job you need while also being able to reduce the overall damage or make the damage work for you.
@mansoorsaleem525 What was shown was a kind of artist eraser and I have used similar erasers. Some erasers come in these mechanical devices that keep them from being broken during use but they are absolutely able to erase very well. Certain people who have their quirks will only use a certain type of eraser or something like that. There are also many people who are actually obsessed with using every possible amount of an eraser before switching to a new one or those who can't stand to use it on the end of their pencil. As a matter of infact, most normal wood pencils will completely run out of the eraser well before you ever get to 1/4 of the pencil used. In other words, Basically you won't have used even 1/4 of the overall length of any kind of pencil before you have completely used up the eraser on the end of your pencil. You can get to about 1/3 if you completely remove the eraser from the end of the pencil and go to enormous efforts to use it.
You're speaking as if shaped chunks of rubber and soft plastic are arcane technology. The pink ones are more abrasive and have some sort of 'sand' mixed into them from my experience in England.
@hirsutuscanis Erasers are kinda like an arcane thing on a very minor scale. Some artists actually have a thing for their special erasers and what exactly they are using them for. There are erasers that are moldable like clay, then you have plastic erasers that are as soft as a bit of tissue paper. You also have erasers that are so hard that they start to crumble as soon as you scrub them across the surface. Then you have erasers that come in dispensers and might be almost as thin as 0.5, 0.7, 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0 pencil graphite. These erasers each have their own special reasons for existence. However, they have been co-opted for many other uses over the years.
Silly you. You really expected to get the information you were promised from a poorly researched video about a normal eraser, but from Japan?! Smh my head 🤦🏿♂️
I love the Faber-Castell grip 2001 eraser and am using the grey one for a few years now. It is very good at erasing and never leaves mark or gets dirty. It is also really firm so it doesn't bend.
For people who want an answer: Back then making erasers was hard and the design we have now is the most comfortable to hold and won’t hurt you when you try to erase. That one might not be as comfortable as a classic one
There are more ergonomic erasers like round pebble shaped ones with a hard plastic circle in the centre too, so if you're saying the square ones are the most modern, comfortable design then that's also nonsense.
I've never needed an eraser with all these different sizes and shapes on it. But I really do like the white Japanese erasers. I've been using a Pentel click eraser for decades. The pink stuff requires more force to erase than the white plastic kind does, it's silky smooth 😊
Solutions to problems: Cut into different shapes for different uses Rub onto sandpaper, and rag, or a thick piece of paper(cardstock or cardboard) you dont care about to get the graphite/charcoal off

I have a black once-oval-shaped eraser that I’ve had since 6th grade (about 14 years ago), and that thing is STILL my die-hard go to. I’m gonna be so sad once that thing finally bites the dust.
youtube be giving me every single way to waste my money💀
for any erazer you can usally whipe it off your clothing or a carpet
Bro old is gold I miss the old Days going school play my happy life 😔 😢
My favorites are kneaded erasers (any brand really), Faber-Castell Dust Free/Tombow Dust Catch, and Tombow Mono. Sometimes an art gum is nice to have, but very crumbly. I don't really like white plastic erasers very much tbh.
Not many people are gonna go through the effort or using the correct side every time they need to use the eraser
I actually prefer the rounded corners on my erasers. They're less likely to tear at the paper, and often feel softer than a fresh eraser. Plus, you can rub the "traditional" eraser off on paper and clean that too.
My "traditional" eraser is just a rectangle white one. Same material as these. But they have many different kinds
Everyone seems to be talking about how the pink one is just fine and lemme say, as an artist, the white plastic ones are infinitely better. I always use pentel. I havent used a pink eraser in ages
I was using this at high school in 2010. good old days😌
The question you need to ask is what is the most effective way of doing the job you need while also being able to reduce the overall damage or make the damage work for you.
yeah, in my area an eraser costs 2 cents
@@jedstanaland2897 That was a very verbose way of saying 'To each their own'.
However, they have been co-opted for many other uses over the years.
she never even addressed why the current erasers are shaped the way they are
Wow, this is revolutionary.
The overengineered one runns into the same problem, especially with the pointy one..
I was expecting an answer as to why the pink ones are shaped like that
Silly you. You really expected to get the information you were promised from a poorly researched video about a normal eraser, but from Japan?! Smh my head 🤦🏿♂️
I like the pink design cuz it’s nostalgic
When was the last time I used an eraser? Must've been years. I got out of the habit of using pencils and now I can't go back.
You can clean the pink one and also cut it to be the size you want ... keep the cut bits and you can kneed them into whatever shape
I love the Faber-Castell grip 2001 eraser and am using the grey one for a few years now. It is very good at erasing and never leaves mark or gets dirty. It is also really firm so it doesn't bend.
I like using the pentel white erasers. They work so well
For people who want an answer:
Back then making erasers was hard and the design we have now is the most comfortable to hold and won’t hurt you when you try to erase. That one might not be as comfortable as a classic one
There are more ergonomic erasers like round pebble shaped ones with a hard plastic circle in the centre too, so if you're saying the square ones are the most modern, comfortable design then that's also nonsense.
As an adult, i cant remember the last time i used a pencil for anything. It's all about white out now
You never doodle? Sad😢
@@tegathemenace with a pen yea
You mean tip-ex you freak 😠
It's actually quite fun to write with a pencil once in a while though!@@tegathemenace
Building a house as an adult, I used pencils extensively after having not touched one for years, found it therapeutic. And I like nice pens 😂
This is not over engineered, this is perfectly engineered
I have when people say something is "over" done like this isn't over engineered, it solves problems regular erasers have
thats why we have.....✨pencil erasers✨
Meanwhile me: using literally rubber band attached to my pencil for whole 6 years of my elementary school
I've never needed an eraser with all these different sizes and shapes on it. But I really do like the white Japanese erasers. I've been using a Pentel click eraser for decades. The pink stuff requires more force to erase than the white plastic kind does, it's silky smooth 😊
I don't even remember when did i use a pensil last time and still i watched the entire short.
Solutions to problems:
Cut into different shapes for different uses
Rub onto sandpaper, and rag, or a thick piece of paper(cardstock or cardboard) you dont care about to get the graphite/charcoal off
