I’ve had similar erasable highlighters, but they were from the Crayola Take Note line.
Fair warning, if you use the eraser part anywhere, you can’t use the highlighter on that part of the paper at all anymore.

Can also be done with any regular red plastic film, teal marker and red pen.
I used this once in an exam where my teacher allowed us to bring one page worth of self made notes. By using Red and Blue pens you can use Red and Blue plastic sheets to erase one or the other, meaning you can write twice as many notes on a single page.

The pen and study technique is common in Japan. In fact, some textbooks are designed for this type of studying. E.g. comprehension questions have their ans next to it in a different color so it disappears when you hover the colored film on top. It's a niffty way to crosscheck. I've seen some that take it up a notch by using different colors/filters.

You can do that with any other marks and colored plastic. If the plastic is the same color as the marker, you can't see the writing. If they're on the opposite sides of the color wheel, you see grey where the marker is. The "eraser" is pretty easy to find and really common. An erasable pen though (with an actual eraser at the bottom) is just a bit less common and it damages the paper less but it uses special ink (not sure what is special). Both damage the paper though

No erasing!”) We were all required to use blue ink pens with that fancy tip 🖋️ and the little ink capsules you had to switch whenever they ran out. Only downside to the erasers is that any ink written on the erased area will disappear, too, and you have to use a different pen to write over that area which usually wasn’t the exact same color and thickness (which is probably why some teachers banned it)
