I love this channel and how much dedication it puts to things. They made an 18 minute video about shoe horns.
they have one about buttons as well!!!
Alice in conduct disorder because🐓🤬
Preston, I must say your no pun intended comment "agony of the feet" took me way back to my days of watching ABC World Wide of Sports because the opening line was "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" thanks for sharing the video!
I wonder how many people picked up on that?!
I used to make fun of my grandpa for having custom shoe trees and shoe horns for all his shoes. Now that he’s gone I’m just jealous and sad.
Isn’t it amazing what we grow to appreciate, even if it’s a little late?
This was interesting. My first time working in a shoe shop someone asked me to give him a shoe horn and i looked at him like what in the sam hill? But the day i left i took a spare one home just cause they're amazing
Lol 😝👍🏼👍🏼
Gabriel order 💯

My father and grandfather taught me the value of shoehorns. Grandpa had been educated in a Christian Brother School in Ireland about as well as was possible for an Irish Catholic under British rule. When he came to America he ended up being a bellhop in high end hotels. As a job requirement, and also because he learned from his clients, he learned how to dress properly. Among my lessons as a kid were shoehorns and how to care for shoes along with a wide variety of ways to properly tie a tie. You don't need to be rich or from a rich background to learn the value of this. I have a friend whose grandfather was a Pullman porter in the days when that was about the most prestigious and well paying job most Black men could get. He taught his sons and grandsons the same lessons as my grandfather did.
My understanding from my grandfather is that the older shoehorns were made from animal horn. He did have a couple of them. Better than most or all plastic due to its smoothness and flexible strength and often with a long wooden handle for use when standing up they've been difficult to find at any reasonable cost during most of my lifetime.
i appreciate the the mix of sophisticated and sometimes campy,, cheesy humor these guys put into their videos. it show they take their subject matter very seriously, but not themselves.
Only Preston could make this 17 minute shoehorn video tenable to watch without simply expiring on the spot. Well done!
Very overlooked accessory yet very interesting! 🎩🏅
Who would have thought while searching for a shoe horn video that they were going to get a full on history lesson? Amazing video! Thanks. Keep the good work.
Very beautiful shoe horns, you guys make.
If shipping to Australia wasn't 70$, I might have bought the stubby one just because they look so good.
Yeah, living in Australia isn't always great.
Shoe horns are 100% worth it. I'm pretty lazy with my daily drivers, don't usually both tying/untying and split on/off but with a shoehorn, the heel portion has last well over a year now, normally I tear it up quickly.
I used to roll my eyes at shoe horns but I got one recently and they work shockingly well, especially for tall boots.
Make sure you don't let the horn touch the insole of any footwear you use it with. I damaged my Puma Suede insole with a Waproo stainless steel model this way. Simply slide your heel in and slide out the horn at the same time.
Wonderful content! Teaching all the while making it fun.
I absolutely love the horn products from Fort Belvedere! I've owned the Tidbit tray, 15" shoe horn and the travel shoe horn which I have in my everyday carry. Really classy and practical tools!
Creatively entertaining and informational, thank you!
I enjoy watching and learning from this channel, Preston is a fascinating gentleman's personality ✨
Great video mate
Another great video. A definite must have for the modern gentleman. Especially to preserve your investment. One should expect that quality hand crafted mens footwear, would include a shoe care kit with this item and cedar stretchers.
We need a streetwear Preston episode.
Preston has an awesome jawline.
My Gosh this was a GREAT VIDEO!! May I repeat, this was a GREAT VIDEO! I never saw Preston before until today and I learned so much about shoe horns. I honestly had no idea they were made from water buffalos. I am a shoe and sneaker freak and I can't believe I never owned a shoe horn. I'm buying my first one from Gentleman's Gazette right away along with those amazing socks. I also watched Preston's on-stage performance today too. Thank you so much for such a classy video as always! I wasn't sure 18 minutes was necessary for a shoe horn until I watched the whole thing!
Preston is world class! 🌍
Hearing Preston talk about keeping your yeezy’s fresh was hilarious 😂
Honestly looking into this for my first pair of Air Jordans because I had such a hard time trying them in at the store
I have a metal long one from my grandpa and its really good even it doesnt have any brand
Just for the record, back in Ye Olde Corset-Wearing Tymes, you put on your shoes BEFORE your corset or stays, thus avoiding the issues that Preston seems so concerned with at 4:30. 😆And that went for everybody, since men wore them as well. Of course, those with maids/valets *could* have shoes applied afterward if they so wished, but in general you just put them on first.
Preston is my spirit animal.
My shoe horn has spring part. It’s really flexible, useful and hardly be broken.
As a mom with two kids, shoe horn is a life saver for pregnant women, especially in the third trimester. Since I don’t need to bend to just accomplish the day to day task of putting on my shoes!
Very helpful.
... how does it say you posted that 2 days ago?
@@mungulor I save so much time by using shoe horns that I saw this video early!
Hahaha your Yeezy line completely took me off guard almost spat my food out!!
At the school I went to (where shoes were concerned, black Oxford lace ups) we were issued with a shoehorn and a wooden cotton reel. I asked my housemaster what the cotton reel was for and he replied without hesitation, it was to measure the loops in my shoelaces to make sure they were even. Shoe polishing with the laces removed was also mandatory three times a week. Standards of a bygone era.
I'm getting all three sizes!!
Please make this a series! I would love to watch a similar video about the white button up shirt!
P.S. The Yeezy part killed me 😂
Great video I just wish people would value getting their feet measured properly. I wore the wrong size shoes for a long time and never understood why my toes pinched; turns out I had a long foot and short toes so I moved up from a size 9 to a size 11 and my feet have been happier ever since.
I agree. I was long told I was a 10 1/2 shoe size. When shopping at a Marshall's in their assortment of shoes aisle I tried on a size 12 and was truly comfortable in a shoe for the first time. That seems to be my true size and all my shoes fit well now. Never entirely trust a shoe salesman or their measuring devices. Trust your own perceptions of a comfortable fit.
2:04 This made this entire video worthwhile (other than the information obviously!) Well played Preston :D
This dude is like a geek with the jawline of a Chad. Is that the true gentleman?!
Awesome
I’m here because I was afraid I was doing it wrong. My confidence is so shaken lately I’m checking to see if I’m using a shoe horn correctly, I need a vacation.
If you want can y’all do a video about kilts?
For me the biggest factor is thickness and flexibility. Most plastic shoe horns are too stiff and break easily. I've found the long plastic one from ikea does well since it's pretty flexible. The best one I have is a very thin metal shoehorn at no more than 0.5mm thickness. Some shoes are hard to get into with a thicker shoehorn if the heel cup is less wide than the actual heel counter area, or if the instep is on the low side, especially if you are just starting to wear a new pair that hasn't broken in.
Hey quick question: How many casual coat in minimum should I own to manage a 5 day work-week?
I don't recall listening to this benefit of a shoe horn. When standing or sitting. A shoe horn allows your socks to remain straight. If you pick up your leg and cross it over your other leg or pick up your heel to pull on your shoe you more often than not rotate your sock on your leg. Shoe horns allow your feet to sit naturally while putting on your shoe.
$5.47 for a long, stainless steel shoe horn at Harbor Freight. Best deal out there.
The more I see Preston, the more I like him. Great video, great channel!!
Twenty five inch shoe horn, that's class. Shoe Horn jokes not so much. Great vid!
As the years pass the floor gets further away! I may have to buy a shoe horn!
I only recently started using shoehorns. I got tired of always tying and untying my boots and sneakers, and I found that using shoehorns made getting dressed for going out so much easier and quicker, with the added bonus of my shoes lasting longer. However I only have a cheap, plastic shoehorn that comes apart at the handle. I have to keep tucking it back together again. Considering it's so extremely low quality to begin with (it probably costed me a whopping 2 dollars or something) I could probably put it back together with duct tape and it wouldn't make it look any worse than it did when new. It would be nice with a proper shoehorn though, and maybe I could try to craft one out of wood.
The distaste in Preston’s voice when he says, “that’s what Yeezys look like??” 🤣
Will there be a part 2 to this topic?
As a kid I called them "foot ladle". Quite sad it's not their real name.
In Germany we call them just that: Schuhlöffel 😄
Well, that's 'shoe ladle' not 'foot ladle', but still...
Hey, I get the Stauer catalog they have a lot of Gentleman items that would win your approval.
I love shoehorns, I have two, one at home and one I keep in my purse
Good idea. I will borrow it.
Never ever heard such a detailed instruction how to use a shoehorn.Awesome.
Yeezy comment was so funny!
Well done, Preston! I look fwd to everything GG ~ and I'm not even a Gentleman. (I pass it on to the men in my 💫 orbit!
You should be a gentleman. Plain and simple.
@@MisterRorschach90 men should be gentlemen, but if this is not a man, then ergo not a gentleman.
Shoe horns at home and in my gym bag and travel bag.
Argyle sweater pattern and how to wear argyle
This will be pun-tabulous. I have a well ornate sterling handled horn on its way
You didn’t mention one key aspect (for me at least) which is the curve of the shoe horn. Different shoes have different width on the heels as well as different materials used as heel stiffeners. On my Crocket & Jones a classic plastic shoe horn works, which is usually a fairly wide model. On my Enzo Bonafé which has a narrower and more stiff heel it does not work at all, for those shoes I need a shoe horn with a deeper curve.
I have a horn and a metal one. Both I found in my grandfather's boxes
You can use your belt and place it into the shoe and use it as a shoe horn. Then put the belt back through your loops. Voila! Travel shoehorn and belt in one.
I had a horn shoehorn before, unfortunately they broke while I was putting shoes on ;( so i just use metal one now haha
I have heard the historical white tie gloves should be made from thin full grain kidskin gloves. While the ones in the stores are lambskin seude. Interesting.
Yup keep one by the door and closet
So I live in a former plantation mansion and has a sort of Georgian revival architecture style and I want to go for a southern colonel look. I was thinking a cream colored linen 2 piece suit with a white shirt, blue bow tie, white Stetson fedora and black cap toe Oxford shoes, what do you think about this idea?
Go for a monochromatic ivory look. Everything ivory, not so much _cream._
@3:12 I nearly spat out my cognac
Yeezy's, is it worth it?? Please make that a video 😂
Hahaha
Might be surprised.
Is this available in Pakistan?
YES!!!! 2:05 😂🤣😅
„So many stiff corsetts…“ *unpacks baby oil*
Quick Tip: If you don’t own or have misplaced a shoe horn, you can improvise with a tablespoon.
I use a plastic shoe horn it does the job
I bought a 30" steel shoe horn. Best accessory purchase ever.
If you’re caught without a shoe horn your Amex Card will do the trick. “Never leave home without it”.
I measured was 22 inches long, steel with a plastic handle continous hanging curve (🥎) along width.. plastic curve was circumsized 1/2" now 21.5 inches..BUT U MUST AGREE EVEN AT 21.5 " still very impressive.. had a hole on east west of plastic handle..one hole became a rudimentary hook for zippers on my winter rubber leather boots...down please...🙄
Speaking of Jack Sparrow look alikes, a certain other Preston comes to mind. Preston Soto of Elegant oxford used to do Jack Sparrow impersonations.
You guys should make a video on capes and how to properly wear them.
3:18 was watching this in the background so this caught me totally off guard. that is hilarious.
and yes thats a Yeezy.
never liked them
Preston just lost his grip on sanity in this entire video hahaha
👍
👍🏻
OoOoOoOo! As an American I've always used my finger
Best comment
I've needed a shoehorn all my life. (20 years) All of my tennis shoes are broke in the back. 🤦🏻♀️
My BIG BOY helps me put on my socks at 72.. edge of bed foot on sideboard..shoe horn in sock, sock over toes draw up sock removing shoehorn..
03:10😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Never in my life I thought there would be a video of what Is a shoehorn and how to use it, but of course it’s 2021 and kids have no idea of anything else than untied sneakers
If you need to watch a video on how to put shoes on you almost certainly fasten your shoes with Velcro
that jawline tho
Preston looks like he hasn't had a proper meal in a while...
Give him a little extra food :3
he's explained before about his disability/medical issue that burns a lot of calories even though he eats a lot because of it
4:29 Karolina Zebrowska finna drag you on corsets
I inherited all my grandpa's he had a whole bunch cause he would use them all the time
I just use whatever shoe horn came with my shoes. It's a simple product. No need to over think and over pay
agony of the feet 😂😂😂
Today I learned what a shoe horn was and realized that I already have one
For some reason Im missing my shoe horn, I refuse to put on my shoes without it because I dont want to damage my shoes. So I'll wait until the shoe horns I ordered show up.
Its a Schwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing horn lol.
I love you guys and Rafaels stunningly beautiful wife. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
This is so close to the perfect shoehorn to me. But i rather not see any branding on the product. I find it much more classy and prefer to let the quality speak for itself.
"that's what a Yeezy looks like?" 😅😅😅
U gotta fight for ur right to party
Did you guys seriously just make the claim that water Buffalo shoe horns are the most sustainable?
