"Submarine, makes planes, we invented the language"
It's 'Supermarine' super then marine. Supermarine was an aircraft design and making company. RJ Mitchell (the guy who designed the Spitfire) worked for them. They initially made planes that landed on the sea, hence super marine.
Mitchell died before the war started, so he never saw how great his Spitfire did for us.
He also designed a bomber, the Mitchell Bomber, that was far more advanced than anything anyone had at any point in the war. Unfortunately they only design copy was kept at the Supermarine offices in Southampton, and it was bombed very early in the war, and the design was lost forever.

    • @slavenrasic2173

@@slavenrasic2173 the B.12/36 proposals (types 316,317 and 318, each with a different power plant) had an estimated top speed of 360mph and a service ceiling of 30,000ft and 3,000 mile range, for early war four engined bombers these were indeed very nice figures.
The two prototypes and all design work were destroyed in a bombing raid in September 1940 when the Luftwaffe hit the Supermarine works at Woolston.
The speed, range and altitude the plane could have been capable of would have made it untouchable by German airpower until much later in the war. Totally unrestricted strategic bombing with the ability to hit North Africa from bases in England would’ve impacted the war in immeasurable ways.

Historical game indeed. Britain did technically invent the theory of 'Blitzkrieg' via modern warfare theorist Basil Henry Liddell Hart. The British upper echelons did not think it would work, but Mr. Guderian found his research and applied to the German military tactics. Hart the teacher, Guderian the student that surpassed the teacher.

7:56 Maths time: A Silent Workhorse gives 0.3 extra PP per day, which means it takes 500 days (about one and a third year) for a non-discount Silent Workhorse to repay itself. Getting a -10% discount reduces that time by 10% (maths!) so with Baldwin it only takes 450 days instead of 500. (Or 375 days for the more common -25% discount, which is just about a year, spicy PP gain.)

Actually Dave me old mucker Britain may have invented Blitzkrieg. Hitler and Guderian both credit J.F.C Fuller for inspiration. Hitler once turned to Fuller during a military tank display in Germany and asked "How do you like the progress of your children"
Both he and Liddell-Hart were early advocates of Tank armies and rapid breakthrough using combined land and air forces, also Tukhachevskys deep battle idea for the Red Army is considered an inspiration for blitzkrieg.

A lot of the "Best" strategies would involve sending volunteers out to farm general traits and more army exp (for tank modifications), use some of your troops to do the same in France and the Benelux, a TON of micromanagement, and it just becomes a drag. Here, you show that you can just have a pretty chill, fun game and still end up doing really well!

The royal navy was on standby in ports outside of the English channel (mainly Scapa Flow I think?) but just the threat of them showing up was the "naval supremacy" that prevented the Germans from invading through the English channel. So whether or not this was intended by the devs - historical accuracy, yay!

If you ever want auto delete tank divisions, add 2 battalions of SPA as well. You'll overrun defending divisions before they reinforce. (Single Player)

One note: The speech decisions are not useless even if the immediate benefit doesn't seem to be useful, as it gives the USA the opportunity to do decisions that increases the USA's war support which are very needed, and also decisions that gives the UK tons of free guns and artillery.
