Mara perhaps you could contact the elfia organisers with your concerns about the photographers and they should have to have a photographers ticket and lanyard and rules to adhere to where they have to ask permission to photograph individuals and should be asked to leave or have their lanyard and camera held by security until they want to leave if they have been making people feel uncomfortable. That "time for a divorce" comment had me cracking up though.
I'm honestly thinking about doing that. I mean, Castlefest introduced a photography-pass and this year has been so relaxed?? Even though Castlefest always have been way more relaxed with photographers, never had any bad thing happening there tbh. Which is so weird, because it's the same kind of event!
Out of the 3 guys dressed as Jack Sparrow, the 1 in the middle was very realistic looking lol, I loved your look
Thank you for addressing how rude photographers can be at elfia! I remember I was randomly checking my phone and this guy, without permission, took a picture standing really close. Like super close. I looked up and he legit ran away. Duuude.

However, elfia this year was fun, as usual!
This Elfia it was extra insane, so many photographers were acting like freaking dogs, standing infront of eachother and shit. And the sexual comments, or photo's when you're eating.. It's my biggest pet peeve! At one point I was posing for one photographer, and many started taking photo's too, which always kinda happens. But when I told one dude he was standing infront of my photographer, other photographers started taking photo's while I was off guard and not posing but talking, and I literally shouted HELP ME to my friend and ran off because WHAT THE FUCK. This year was too much, and these shit photographers are the one and only reason why I'm starting to dislike Elfia more and more.. I mean, this shit never happens at Castlefest, so why does it happen at Elfia? It's basically the same thing?? So weird~
Psychara exactly! I really don't understand why they are behaving like this at all. I got so many pictures taken without my permission at one point that it freaked me out immensely. I'm so sorry for how they treated you. It fucking sucks. I love meeting like minded people at elfia but indeed, these people ruin it for everyone. Never been to Castlefest. Deffo going. Want to see the difference.
Psychara I think it's because Elfia is known as "the event with 'bigger' and more costumes" (not sure if thats true but thats what I hear a lot) so it might attract more photographers who are there to get some practise and thats it. I feel like most photographers at Castlefest are there for the vibe, music and food too, not just for the models, especially this year. I feel like the photopass really did scare people off, mostly the ones who don't know how to properly approach and treat models. I hope Elfia will follow and introduce photopasses like that. It might help.

That's fun, watching a video and see myself strolling through it. But apart from that, I consider myself lucky. I was alone this year at the Elfia in Haarzuilenz, so no wingman to scare away creeps. But I was lucky to meet without exception only the nice and polite photographers.

I love your Elfia vlogs! Your choice of music is so perfect too. Glad you stuck to your posing rules. Interesting that they want you to pose in a demure and powerless way, I think that it means that they are scared of your power and energy and so try to tame it. I expect that it wouldn't be female photographers. I believe that it is because men generally are scared of women and even more scared of women whose sexual orientation does not feature them, or indeed, anyone. Looking forward to next years Elfia vlogs already!
Oh, I didn't even think of it that way, but that makes sense! And this may sound sexist as fuck, but I literally never had a problem with a female photographer, and there are so many of them at these events..! They're always so nice ???
When I photograph events (conventions, etc.), I ALWAYS make sure to ask permission, give them time to adjust and pose, and thank the person/s enthusiastically, because I'm super aware that most of the other photogs are pushy and want to get photos 'in the moment,' but they make us all look so rude. 😓
Aww, that's so nice! ;w; There definitely are plenty of lovely photographers at these events, asking nicely and shit. And I never really mind if other photographers are joining the crowd to take a photo, but at this Elfia event, some men were standing infront of eachother, literally pushing them. @___@ Absolutely nuts!

The grounds where this takes place are soooo beautiful and green! I love seeing all the incredible costumes, and the whole fantasy vibe...but, yes, having to deal with creepy, nasty, rude photographers would certainly be a real "downer". I think that everyone who experienced this while there, and who also left a comment here about what they endured should also email the organizers at Elfia. Let them know that you are seriously considering *not* dressing up and/or showing up anymore because of the harassment you are getting from these photographers. Maybe they will do something about the problem.

I will be honest I sometimes go to events to take photoes too and I like to take these kind of moment-photoes where I try to capture the impression of the moment but then I usually go to the persons to show it to them "hey sorry I made this photo I think it is nice can I keep it?" or if I cannot talk with them I think a lot when editing photoes whether that photo looks good or bad or would I like a photo like that to appear or no no, or I send it to the person itself. So there are ways to do that normally too!
I remember having very bad photoes about me already uploaded at some events' pages and it was bad writing to people please take that off because I do not like how it looks and had to keep arguing with people that it is not out of selfishness or nascissism but there is a photo of me without my permission and that is not okay! Just gah!!

And these shit photographers then claim that 'spontaneous photo's are nice'. Well, I DON'T find my exposed chin-fat and half blinking eyes very nice, tyverymuch!

The photographers at elfia are disgusting. I went this spring and they totally ruined the experience for me, they’re like vultures. I just wondered if they were really photographers or just creeps who borrowed some cameras...ugh. I won’t be going to elfia again....castlefest is better.

Seeing the terrible quality they create, it's probably just creepy men who borrowed a camera.. :') But ugh, it's so frustrating and sad! I didn't go in costume on purpose, and well I also only decided one day before to go to Elfia. But I mean, I can easily throw an outfit together with wigs and horns and insane lenses.. but I remember from last year how terrible the photographers were so I went in my own casual style on purpose so they would leave me alone lol. They basically ruined dressing up for me!!
Hmmm it sounds to me like they should do something about that! Like have to have a special ticket for the festival with a lanyard to say they are a photographer and be given a set of rules or guidelines to adhere to and if anyone is found to make anybody uncomfortable have their photographer permit taken and their camera held by security until they can pick it up when they leave
