Went down to Sain luis pass couple days ago, I’m getting excited for this warmer weather there where Spanish Mack’s and Mullet everywhere in the surf. Tides and current was so strong couldn’t keep the smaller rods out and I left after about two hours , but it’s looking very promising.
This guy genuinely deserves more views.

You should start by replacing the click spring if you can. Some of the really old Senators don't have a replaceable one which means you'll need a new tail plate.

That's a tribute to the venerable Penn reel. I believe the only Penn reels still made in the USA are the Senator and International. I have an old 309 that I recently restored and it looks and functions like new even though I'm pretty sure my grandpa bought it in the 1960's if not earlier. Bought a fiberglass trolling rod and 50 lb mono just to keep it classic and planning to take it trolling off Bali when the Corona restrictions are lifted.

Great videos!! Quick questions, when you cut the hook, which part do you cut and what happens to the rest? Also, what’s the lb test on your line?
You cut as close to the jaw as you are comfortable cutting. The hooks rust out after 1 to 2 days.

When shark fishing in South Africa we prefer to fish the brown water. Sharks normally hunt in the brown water or low light conditions since they are harder to spot
